Where do you even begin to look a The Loh Collection!? Located in the heart of Germany, the Nationales Automuseum recently opened and features a staggering display of the most incredible cars in the world. 2 CLK GTRs, Schumacher F1 cars, classic race winners, it’s jaw dropping!

With approximately 150 cars on site from a pre-war line-up, to displays of motorsports cars from many eras including multiple Formula 1 championship winners, there’s nowhere else quite like it. Having opened in July 2023, the museum has already welcomed 40,000 visitors but somehow still feels like it is yet to be fully discovered on a global level. Instantly shooting up high on my recommended list of must visit automotive locations in Germany, there are multiple halls featuring different cars in great presentation layouts.

After previously showcasing a 24H of Le Mans exhibit to celebrate 100 years of the famous race in 2023, the new Ferrari exhibit is currently being set up ready to open on 23rd March 2024. This is where we find the ‘Big 5’ alongside one of the podium 330Ps that dominated at Daytona 1967, the original 250S that won Mille Miglia in 1952, and cars from the likes of Niki Lauda, Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen.

Heading via the Pre-war collection, we move towards the banked curve featuring some exceptionally special cars from throughout the years. Highlighted for me, the Loh Collection includes not only the original CLK GTR prototype/press car, but also the CLK GTR Roadster prototype too! Sitting in the same area you can also find the one-off Maybach Exelero that featured in a Jay-Z music video, and a newly delivered AMG ONE. Not only that, but there’s a ‘Matchbox’ display of race cars mounted on the wall, with more Le Mans, NASCAR and DTM winners amongst others.

I cannot believe I did not come to visit sooner, and I thoroughly recommend making a stop at the Nationales Automuseum – The Loh Collection in Germany!

  1. No problem! Here's the information about the Mercedes CLR GTR:

The Mercedes CLR GTR is a remarkable racing car celebrated for its outstanding performance and sleek design. Powered by a potent 6.0-liter V12 engine, it delivers over 600 horsepower.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes approximately 3.7 seconds, with a remarkable top speed surprising 320 km/h.🥇

Incorporating adventure aerodynamic features and cutting-edge stability technologies, the CLR GTR ensures exceptional stability and control, particularly during high-speed maneuvers. 💨

Originally priced at around $1.5 million, the Mercedes CLR GTR is considered one of the most exclusive and prestigious racing cars ever produced. 💰

Its limited production run of just five units adds to its rarity, making it highly sought after by racing enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. 🌎

  2. Hey shmee! A question about clk gtr, what I know about it is there was 2 prototypes, one of which was crash tested, and one was turned into a super sport roadster, or am I wrong? The crash tested was restored?

  3. I don’t understand owning them with engines – who cares if they never run. What a waste – they all look the same minus some paint and stickers but you just look at them???(the Indy cars)

  4. We do have well known car collections/ museums here in Germany. Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi. If you're ever in Autostadt (VW Wolfsburg) just oay a short visit to it's "Haus der Zeit".

  5. A big thank you to Mr Friedhelm Loh for making his car collection accessible to the public. He has worked a lot for it and has also built up a great company. 👍

  6. I love all of Shmee's videos, this is a Killer vid. I do have a problem with the 63 Continental that JFK was supposedly murdered in, I think he said that was the car in which it happened and I can tell you it is not! The only thing I can think of is that someone had the car repainted and also a different color. Anyways another Brilliant showcase from Shmee……🎸♥️

  7. The Germans having the exact car like the CAR JFK was shot in. Is absurd and Americans should be ashamed that they sold a piece of our history away. It almost tells you the story behind it that it was an inside job, get rid of the evidence.

  8. Thats an awesome collection imagine getting to choose one

Also i rly like that they put some effort into placing them nicely and adding some scenery etc, great job by the owners!

  9. This collection is owned by Friedhelm Loh a German industrialist who was given an electrical startup company in 1961 by his father Rudolf Loh. Rudolf Loh was a Nazi who served in WWII and was in both the western front fighting against the US Army and later transferrred to the Eastern front where he was wounded in battle against the Soviets. After recovering from his wounds he was assigned to Peenemunde where he worked on the Nazi nuclear program as well as the control systems for the V2 rocket. There are unanswered questions about the source of his financing which allowed him to begin a manufacturing business immediately after the end of the war at which time Germany was totally devastated and most people struggled to find food.

  10. Its in Siegerland an the Man how create this is an Industry Business Man ! He collect more than 40 years ! The Collection is in a Holding and the Museum present on his hometown!

  11. how do this work. Does someone own all of these vehicles or some. Can someone try to buy some of these vehicles. Its weird to me theyre all in a museum whereas some of those cars are worth so much money

  12. 18:35—"the most successful nascar"….
What?? Since when is the race car the sanctioning body??
Just TRY calling the car the national association of stock car auto racing…do you see how stupid that sounds??
it's a STOCK CAR. Or call it a CUP CAR. ( IF it raced in the top series)
Or a RACE CAR. C'mon shmee your smarter than talking in automotive broken English.
