I escape the city for a bikepacking trip to the beautiful Chilterns, testing out my winter cycling kit along the way.

I plan to stay on a hill, for a chilly night under the stars with temperatures as low as 1 degrees celcius.

It’s a 60km or so cycle from where I live to the campsite, just outside High Wycombe.

I will also reveal some exciting plans for my next major trip.

Will I stay warm enough?

  1. Thanks for sharing Darin, the new toys look good and should serve you well for a long time to come. I look forward to the Loch Ness film. I cycled past it one summer so will be interesting to see it in the winter.

  2. Nice little film of your adventure. Winter nights in a tent can be so long as it gets dark so early. That bag looked very cosy.
Enjoyed your coverage of the red kite reintroduction story – something I had involvement with during my career.
Sometimes the background music was a bit intrusive IMO, as I struggled to hear what you were saying. I’d prefer more natural sounds & less and quieter, music.
    Thanks for making the film.

  3. Very nice video. Thanks for sharing. I always love seeing how folks fit all their gear on to the Brompton for touring, and also where people find to camp during the winter season. I wish all the campsites would stay open during winter!

  4. I love your videos, they are really great !! you are lucky to have those camping sites in the UK. Here in Spain, the only way it is to go camping… it is exciting though. Would it be possible to know what equipment you are using for filming? many thanks
