Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. We moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.

Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.

And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape” and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

The two women we recommend if you’re looking for online French classes are as follows (please tell them we sent you)
1. Francesca Fleming – You’ll find her on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/soundmorefrenchwithfrannie OR at frannie@speechbubblelanguages.co.uk I took an advanced French class with her to improve my pronounciation and sound more French . Lots of fun. Also included a weekly conversation group where we could just chat with other students in French

2. Patricia Pedditzi at FrenchRivieraExpatServices.com Patricia lives here in NIce, and is a French teacher and she also organizes fun tours, group activities where you can practice your French and offers other services to assist new expats

Most of our videos are shot with An’s Samsung Galaxy S20 Note Ultra Smartphone and a circular ring light, as needed.

  1. Bonjour. Another excellent video An & Jeff. Cindy and I decided to explore the Mediterranean coast of Europe (Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy) before making our visa appointment. We'll be in Portugal/Spain in December and Perpignan in January. Afterward, Italy. Your videos have really helped! Merci. Dean & Cindy

  2. Bonjour, a great video, i am awaiting word on my visa. Your videos have been very helpful for my move to the Nice area in janvier. As you are farther along this journey, will you be considering a video for renewing your long stay visa when time comes? Merci beaucoup, Julie

  3. he needs' to get off his ass and do it instead of relying on you to converse in French. He doesn't sound sincere in that vague 'plan'. How's the weather there? Today here in SWFL it was 49 degrees this morning!! In November!! IDK what it's going to be like in February.

  4. Germany doesn’t have garbage disposals either and they are not authorized for use here. I know of a few entitled people who bring them over here. The problem is with the sewage treatment plants…. Actually, garbage disposals are banned in EU with very few exceptions.

  5. Loved watching that vidéo too ! And loved the way you speak about France and the French.
Also thank you for mentioning my name and my services.🙏🙏. Hope to see you in Monop😂😂. A bientôt 😚

  6. I laughed about people asking where you are going next or where you should be going. You are not a tourist guide youtube. lol.
I’ve always wanted to live in the south of France. Husband wanted Spain until last year when we were in London, Paris, and Nice. He felt so happy and comfortable in Nice. We hope to take another holiday soon and spend 2-3 months in Nice. Perhaps we will see you on the streets or at an expat gathering.
We are in your age group and you have given us the encouragement, along with helpful ideas, on how to plan a move.

One problem with moving is downsizing. Have done it once but was able to keep most of my dishes and crystal. European living spaces are much smaller, and then there is the fact 2 bathrooms make for a happy marriage. 😂

  7. It’s always a pleasure watching you two. Watching your video and NFL Redzone😅 Mike asked me to add a few items to our checklist from watching this video. We will have more options on our tv next month, thanks to your tips. We too have been watching the Golden Bachelorette. Mike only watches it with me cuz we found the men are actually very friendly to each other. Looking forward to Apéro next month. In the meantime, enjoy your Thanksgiving Week.
We are thankful to you guys and your content. Merci beaucoup!

  8. Bonjour et Merci! Really great to hear, esp from a N. American perspective. With winter in the air, it's hard not to be envious from an upstate NY point of view.

  9. Garbage disposals are a curiousity of the United States. I live in Canada and there are a few people that have garbage disposals but not many. They are also not environmentally friendly.

  10. Do you meet any single expats or are they all with someone. I don't mean in any romantic way just socially it may be different I love your channel you seem like a lovely couple, very friendly and kind.❤
