Sunday morning cycle ride from the remains of St Peter’s Church in Stantonbury to Thornborough Bridge near Buckingham.

St Peter’s was built in the 12th century, the era of the Plantagenets, one cannot help but romantically wonder if King Henry Ii, Richard the Lionheart or King John ever prayed here.

Taking the pathway alongside the Grand Union Canal towards Stony Stratford then the A422 & A421 to Thornborough Bridge.

Thornborough Bridge is the only remaining medieval bridge in the county of Buckinghamshire.

Built in the latter half of the 14th century it is possible that Yorkist or Lancastrian armies crossed this bridge during the war of the roses.
Again it is romantic to think that Richard III, the last Plantagenet King May have crossed the bridge.
