Correction to my script The Rhinefield House estate has a fascinating history. Around 1877, the site was acquired by the Walker family, who were wealthy Nottinghamshire colliery owners. In 1885, their only daughter became engaged to Lieutenant Munro RN, and her father gifted her a substantial sum of £250,000 to build a family home at Rhinefield. Later, the estate changed hands, and in 1972, Mr. Oliver Cutts purchased the freehold. Although his plans did not win approval from the local planning authority, he made considerable progress in refurbishing the house and grounds. Today, Rhinefield House stands as a privately run country house hotel, preserving its rich history and providing a glimpse into the past amidst the beauty of the New Forest
