Ollie Bridgewood has ridden bikes in many corners of the globe, including some with significantly hotter temperatures than we average here in the UK. Fortunately, to aid with that and his body’s thermoregulation in general, he’s undertaken frequent heat training sessions. With the help of the Core Heat Sensor, Ollie has been able to optomise his body to produce good power without overheating, all thanks to the sensor and the data that can be tracked through the App! It’s cool stuff! Here’s how it works…

  1. I live in Western Australia and spend every autumn/winter in northern Thailand. Heat training is all I do. Below 16C, I’ll have my gilet on, below 12C is arm warmers too.

  2. Ollie an edit is that you say remember to have alot Walter by hand. Which is wrong u should Max drink 250ml. Or nothing cause the heat will drop when you consume water, which will make the zones a little more inaccurate and u also get more out of it, atleast that’s what I feel and that’s what I been told my the personal trainer of unoX and my own personal trainer.

  3. Definitely needs follow ups, I live in the UK but I’m looking at racing abroad and this would be great.
Let’s be honest, heat training in the UK by riding outside is……
    How can I put this……
    Limited? 😂

  4. Great video – very informative. I’d like to see another one on this topic; perhaps taking someone through a twelve week heat adaptation. As someone who lives in a cold climate, but takes part in events in hot climates, this would be really useful. Cheers.

  5. I didn't watch the video, but could someone just tell me which pharmacy to go to to get this secret training recipe? Is it the one sagan used and lost access to it a few years back?

  6. This is absolute nonsense. You're better off training on zwift with the heating on and making sure you're getting a good quality session in. Eating well, sleeping well and making sure you're comfortable on your bike should be the priority. All this will do is make you hate cycling and you'll be worse off.

  7. I’d love to hear more… or at least, see more of you looking like a paint sprayer!🤣.

I’ve always found that hot weather drains me… very noticeable.

This weeks autumnal 12’c ish is just perfect… summer kit and cool.

So I would probably benefit measurably from some of this structured heat training.

    Let’s see further video Oli

  8. Yeah, tell people to do heat training on their indoor trainer, what should go wrong?? Such a stupid advertisement for your sponsor.. telling people to risk their health just to make some money from sponsorship.. I am really sad how stupid your videos became during the last year.

  9. Sigh, I remember a time when we used to get fit by riding bikes for fun. Now we have training plans with heart rate monitors, power meters and core temp sensors (and all the associated costs) just for the sunday club run.

  10. Interesting stuff Ollie. I think I've been inadvertently doing heat training, starting gentle zone 2 rides on the turbo trainer thinking I won't need the fan on, then sweating buckets by the end!

  11. At £230 per sensor just to measure temperature…..no thanks….just stick some jogging clothing on….cycle …get hot…..hold hot for 45-90 mins …..stop….this is not new, boxers have done this for years to lose weight rapidly, just another gmick to tag a hefty price tag on…..😂

  12. Thanks for follow up on Conor's video. I've done heat training (using a enclosed 'box' with heaters) on several occasions for races in warmer/altitude locations. Definitely helps. Question; can you combine the CORE system with post ride hot sauna or hot tub to hasten the adaptation?

  13. Have studies reviewed the advantage of having the heat be across the body less then head? We know there are limitations of heat for the brain and many consequences from overheating. Wondering if this training can improve inside where you can control the brain’s temperature better although of course the effect of heated blood will limit specific targeting
