What do you believe this is all about? I don’t believe its about the good of humanity. I find this creepy.

This is from their web site.

BetterPoints combines technology and data to motivate and measure behaviour change in transport & mobility, health & wellbeing and climate change.

https://sheffield.betterpoints.uk/ Run by Sheffield council, but at the bottom of the website is Surrey council.

Download the App no thanks. I don’t live my life through phones.

  1. Just another private company spinning some carbon mumbo jumbo by convincing gullible people and councils that they can save the planet by brainwashing the population into doing things they don't want to do.

    The fear is that this type of population control is Brave New World territory so we need to resist by ignoring it. The only people to really benefit are the company directors – probably at the expense of the Sheffield ratepayers whose Council has signed up to this. There must be more pressing things needing to be done in Sheffield than population mind control experiments.

    An earlier project at Sheffield University reports;

    "Step Up Sheffield was originally commissioned as a 12-month programme in 2019, and has been recommissioned each year since.

    It initially encouraged and rewarded walking, running, cycling and public transport journeys, and has broadened to reward a wide range of other healthy and sustainable activities, such as sports, using gyms, picking litter and donating to foodbanks.

    Participants, particularly the students, reported that the rewards motivated them to walk and cycle more, and this in turn made them aware of other benefits of active travel. "

    Yeah – just a word salad – even worse do you believe the outcomes (heavens knows how they measured them and audited the measurements -you can prove anything with stats):

    57% of activities replaced a car journey.

    285,000 kg of CO2 avoided – equivalent to not charging 34 million smartphones.

    94% of participants said they would take part again.

    Over a million activities were recorded.

    IMHO all codswallop – excuses for not fixing roads and pavements, implementing draconian road restrictions and all the other overbearing activities that Councils impose on us.
