Which is better for Bike Commuting? City Bike or Hybrid? (Where I live, city bikes like the 1st one are seen as a poor man’s transport i.e., no respect on the road)

The first picture is the bicycle which is used by poor people out here, and I’ll probably not be giving the good vibe at college, the second bike is better, but it is probably not going to be as comfortable as the first one (due to lower handlebars forcing me to hunch over)
