Essen Light Festival / Lichterfest 2024, Most Visited Light Art Festival in Germany – 4K HDR

The Essen Light Festival / Lichterfest 2024 in Essen’s city centre was held for 12 days across 16 venues, featuring national and international artists. In this video I am walking at night in October 2024 to all the highlights of the event in the city center of Essen. Now in its ninth year, the festival is considered one of the top 10 festivals in Europe and is the most visited light art festival in Germany after Berlin. Running from 2 to 13 October, the festival operatd daily from dusk until 10 pm, except for Fridays, Saturdays, and 2 October, when it continued until 11 pm. The festival’s main attraction was the ‘Big Picture’ projection on Kennedyplatz, created by Berlin artist Daniel Margraf. This projection showcased works from the Museum Folkwang and transform the square into an interactive artwork. E.ON, the main sponsor, believed that the light artworks at the festival represent the significance of energy in our lives. A new addition to the festival is the Radio Essen venue, where visitors can explore the studio and enjoy the live programme.
