World class cycling arrived in Barnsley on Thursday 5 September as the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain rode into town.

Thousands of people lined the streets of Barnsley as the borough hosted the final leg of Stage Three of the men’s race.

The stage was won by Stephen Williams of Israel Premier Tech, with double Olympic gold medallist, two-time Barnsley CRIT winner and Yorkshire’s own Tom Pidcock also in action along with fellow double Olympic gold medallist Remco Evenepoel and double world road race champion Julian Alaphilippe.

Entering the borough at Thurnscoe, the riders sped through many of our towns and villages, taking in the spectacular landscapes and landmarks including Wentworth Castle, before conquering the steep Hound Hill Lane, turning past Locke Park and racing for the finish line at County Way, where the crowds cheered Williams to victory.
