Call it what you may, but I find this English Language Proficiency Requirement for admission to a university located in Germany, a country where English is neither the native language nor the official language, let alone the main language used in educational establishments totally absurd. Maybe the professors need to acquaint themselves with the different but colourful English dialects and accents from the “English speaking world”? I mean, how on earth can a high school German graduate qualify for an exemption, yet a person who was educated all their life in English cannot qualify just because they are from a “Third World” country? Does it mean that “Third World” English is also “underdeveloped” just as most “Third World” economies and thus, by deduction, German High School English is far much more developed, just like the economies of the “First World”? What the actual hell?
