It’s been many years since I avidly rode my bike. I started up again last year with my girlfriend on little rides around our neighborhood. Recently I started biking to work. About 8 miles round trip. I have popped five tubes. First it started with the old tube tearing were the valve connects to the tube. It looked as it the metal of the wheel were the valve gets inserted was cutting into the tube. I replaced my rim tape with gorilla tape at the recommendation of my local bike shop. After replacing my tube I popped the next four tubes all in the same way, however unlike the first tube these next four all ended up bent. I double checked my air pressure during my ride (even though I’m suspicious about the efficacy of my pressure gauge). I’m about to give up and pay my shop to either fix this (?) or maybe just buy new wheels and go with tubeless tires.

My tire recommendations says only 100 kg at the suggested air pressure. I sit right at 100 kg which is about 220 pounds. Probably closer to the 215 weight.

Any advice? I feel really stupid but luckily was able to return most of my tubes to Walmart. My front tire tube has been on my bike for a very long time and had no issues in recent years, just my back tire. Thank you!
