Klepsydra
The new LEDA project for summer 2022 is about Time and its different visions. Greek Mythology and Philosophy are our main

inspirations, but we explored other cultures and theories to collect an organic frame for the final result.
Time can be merely a chronological measurement, a linear sequence of identical moments we count with clocks or other
devices. But Time can be Tempo in music, speed variations or Rhythm, a cycle of accents that returns and returns forever. Time is also Kairos, the right time to do something, the various qualities of every single instants that are never the same. And Time can be Synchronicity, the idea that every instant is not just the consequence of the previous one, but a more intricate web where the deep meaning of things comes through coincidences and not only through a causal explanation.
All these visions of Time come together with the Greek Goddess Ananke, representing the Necessity and Inevitability. Her brother is Chronos, the linear time, and they’re bundled up together like two snakes at the beginning of the Universe. She’s also the mother of the three Moirai.
In the project we have 5 choreographers. Each of them will choreograph a part of the final production, but at the same time each of them will dance in all the pieces. Each part will be connected with one of these ideas of Time (Tempo, Rhythm, Kairos, Synchronicity, Ananke) and the choreographers will create their pieces in these frames. The project will feature original music composed by Piotr Staniszewski who will write the score accordingly with the frames.
