Dumb question but does anyone know where to find and how to decode the VIN number on these old Nishiki Backroads bikes? Used to been my dad’s so it’s older than me lol (at least some 25 yrs old), and I don’t know how much of it is original still.
I found two different 10 digit codes stamped on the bottom, one facing forwards, and the other facing backwards so it’s throwing me off. With the codes of AC7F004323, and R926670963. I’m leaning towards the R code one based off an old forum, but idk if it’s right.
Thought about maybe upgrading this but honestly I think I’d be better off just getting a modern entry level-ish MTB. Rim brakes, only a 3×7, abysmal old front shock fork, and grip shifters are kinda meh. Especially with metal fatigue being its an aluminum frame.
