I ventured out to explore Belfast by bike. Belfast is served by a Bikeshare run by Nextbike. The bikes were the best Bikeshare I’ve used. I had nothing but problems with the bikes releasing and returning though. My concerns were immediately addresses and rides were credited thankfully.

There is very little proper bike infrastructure outside of the river paths. Helmets are not required or available on their bikeshare.

I was able to ride all throughout Falls Road and Shankill Road.  There are numerous memorials to victims of “the troubles” as well as murals signaling solidarity with Palestine and South African blacks in the nationalist areas. The adjacent Unionist areas have displays of English solidarity.

3500 people were killed from the 60s until the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 was signed.

It was a sobering and emotive ride.
