Just bought new tires for my bike for a tubeless set up. Went to my LBS that has the exact bike model for sale. They suggested I use a 31mm rim tape to set this up. I’ve set up tubeless on my road bike a few times. No issues.
The current situation is that the rim has a seam in it. Causing air to leak from this point. (I have looked up the specific wheels and they specifically state they are tubeless capable.)The tape suggested is a few mm to narrow and does not cover the sides of the rim.
After doing more measuring, the rim width is 35mm. I have ordered 36mm rim tape. Will this resolve the issue and be wide enough to cover?
Or do I just stick with tubes until I get a new set of wheels?
The photos are of the completed set up with the photo of the seam. The photo of the rim tape is an example of the width of the tape on the second wheel.
