Hello

I'm planning to do the Danube bike trail in May next year. Usually, people seem to go from west to east, ie. from Vienna TO Constanța (Black Sea).

I live in Switzerland and would like to avoid taking a plane, if at all possible. From what I read, the train connection from Constanța isn't all that good, especially when also having a bike. (Or is that a myth?)

Anyway — it got me thinking: How about taking the train from Zurich TO Constanța and then start biking there. Seems to be better planable?

Or is that a stupid idea? The usual descriptions or books (like the ones from Esterbauer) all show the way FROM Vienna (or Passau) TO Constanța, and not the other way around.

Also due to general geographical knowledge and cycle.travel website, I am aware that it would mean going upwards instead of "constantly" downwards. But not all that much, right? Wien is at about 200m, whereas Constanța is at about 0m.
