My bike for stolen recently and I have been hunting around for a cheap replacement. A guy (who is a mechanic by trade) found this basically unused bike in great condition. He tuned it up already and says it’s ready to ride- I love the look and for $175 it seems like a good deal to me!
I know nothing about bikes beyond standard maintenance and I have no interest in restoring or modifying a vintage bike beyond a few things I want to change listed below. I commute about 10 miles round trip to work on a fairly flat route, so I wouldn’t say the bike is getting super heavy use. Even though the bike is in great condition, is this a smart buy? Will it be difficult to replace parts? I would love any pros/ cons about the bike, or things I should be prepared for.
Additionally, I really want to add a chain cover (I like to wear baggy pants) and possibly replace the handle bar with a cruiser bar. Is that going to be difficult with a vintage French bike?
