[Music] [Music] [Music] I [Music] don’t my love if you feel like I do right now don’t say you’re on the [Music] [Music] lose [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] my love you say you want to try but [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] lose [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] right good morning everyone welcome to National track series just just starting at 10:00 this morning we’ve got Sprint qualifying is going to be up first we’ve got Lexi Newton who is coming through to B lapse so flying 200 everyone looking to set the fastest time we’ve got Junior Riders on restricted gears and restricted wheels and then basically open is open open gearing and this is the first time at NTS they’re going to be allowed all their fast toys so we’re going to see them out on double discs and all those sort of things trying to set their fastest time so Alexi going to come around to get the Bell next time so in terms of conditions um obviously it is midwinter but crazily we have got the biggest high over us at the moment so high pressure is not good for setting a fast time so it’s kind of the difference the reverse of going up to altitude is thinner you’re going to go faster the sprinters are going to have a real challenge um as she comes around to build her Sprint let’s watch Lexie time so she gets out of her seat she’s kicking in on that restricted gear so she’s building up she’s Max her clock starts now as she goes over the white line she’s pushing around to come through we’ll get the split so she’s 7 Seconds just at the halfway mark the 100 Mark she’s coming round to the Finish straight finish off her time good opening effort by Lexie at 14.07 is her time 14.07 so what I saying look it won’t affect the Junior as much but there is this massive high pressure system sitting over the North Island at the moment so for the elite Riders it’ll probably be worth I don’t know 0.1 of a second sort of thing maybe even a touch more that it will take away from the time that they would like to set right Elise Pauls Elise Pauls hopefully I’m pronouncing that Su name correctly so she’s coming around to build her height on the Val Drome she’s got the Bell now she drops into her racing slot she wants to get down and on that black line she’s part of the new girls team that’s been set up apologies I can’t remember the name of that team but it’s somebody sort of bringing through a lot of the the young woman riding to have a bit of kerie and team atmosphere which is a great idea so she comes through and she crosses in 16.6 at least it 16.6 so what we’ll see first we’ll see these restricted gear younger Riders come through then we’ll go through we’ll see the Open men and then we’ll see the open woman after that um right who have we got up the at the moment s hat strong apologies for pronouncing that incorrectly so she straight into her sprinters position and you you’ll see this as we move through the field where this is the really common approach used by the sprinters right from the get-go even when they’re just building the speed not going that fast want to be in that aot tuck want to mentally be in that position to be going as fast as they can shortly two wheel streaming right she’s coming around to get the Bell now she’s out of the seat pushing really hard gets back into that low AO position she’s certainly got those aerodynamics sorted again on that restricted gear so she’s b as can be what’s she going to do for that first half our quickest thus far at about 6.2 coming around to finisher effort comes through and crosses the line just under that 14 seconds 13.95 good ride by Sarah right next Rider I’m expecting on the track coming past from tiu Hazel Gardner assume it’s that way around name’s been entered the other way around but I’m sure that Gardener is not a first name okay oh thank you right better get back to my job right so Hazel’s building through in her height on the board she’s getting that maximum height to be able to launch her Sprint it’s coming around again older Riders will see the big gear being picked up where these younger Riders now they’re going to be maxed up pretty quick and you can see here doing that going from a slow RI to a really fast RI really quickly so she hits her slot coming through let’s see what she does for this first 100 she’s quickest again in that sort of mix six time so can she hold that all the way to the line and set 13 seconds 13047 so just above 13 seconds so about a second quicker than what we’ve seen so a certainly great time by here um hey so the stream’s different that what we’ve used before we’ve just used a Facebook live stream before we’ve got going out on YouTube now so I acknowledge um you may know other people who have got children kids riding here please share the link with them so they can watch their family in action if they’re not able to get up and see it live all right niss Cooper is out there now and black cat coming around he gets the bow he’s out of the seat kicking in on his new black vow bike drops in you can see him just pushing those gears he’s got that extra bit of cadence going from what we saw with the earlier Riders so just on 6 seconds can he hold this to do a 12 flat 12.35 seconds so typically what we see is most Riders will go slightly slower on that second half than that first half um it’s all around basically trying to hold that effort um know on that second half and not not die too much it’s pretty rare to see somebody do the second half quicker than the first half right I’ve got a rider from sou G4 now youngang NB hopefully I’m pronouncing that correctly let’s see what he can do so i’me Sid will be his coach down south he’s coming through nicely high on those Boards out of the seat now building a bit of speed as he comes down that back straight he’s going to come around and get the Bell this time he’s getting out of the seat now lifting his es butt you can hear the Bell going he’s pushing he’s holding quite High here he comes in dropping down now drops into that race line just as he starts as flying 200 looks to have some good League speed going on yeah 5.6 is 5.7 and he finishes with 11.51 good effort with no fast wheels and restricted gear nice ride so Miles PR the next Rider coming around now County manal you see him building his height getting on those boards as he comes around he’ll get two laps to go as he comes through this time so big shout out to Damen Payne who has gone out of his way to improve the tech we’ve got to do this live streaming um your experience is going to be so much better than anything we’ve delivered before so hats off to him he has got sound mixing gear he’s got great cameras on tripods he’s got fixed cameras he’s hooked into the live stream for the scoreboard so you can see that so it’s great effort by him so big thank you Damian right miles kicks in to his effort he’s into that racing line he’s past his 200 he’s still pushing he’s not quite on top of that gear yet he might need to build a little bit in that second half but it’s still a fast time 5.8 for this first half what’s he got for the second 11.6 are just outside so there might be some great battles between him and Young D shortly to come up right we now swap over into the open grade so this is the first of the riders that we’re seeing basically coming out with the double discs and they’re going to be riding a much larger gear they can pick whatever gear they want and we’ll see I forget I think they’re restricted for the Sprint is 98 in um and I think this will see Riders potentially doing anything sort of up 116 120 in so quite a bit larger in that sense we’ll just check hi [Applause] 676 [Music] ex right we just swap over Mike listen to the so we’ll just check hopefully somebody can confirm their hearing that apologies we’ve been commentating away for for 10 minutes but by the might in the head commentary running um okay so Zachary wet is out there on track he’s is in the open gearing category but I get that’s what was done in NTS last year so he might not have been aware that this year that change me open could be distant everything as well anyway he’s kicking in he’s getting a Sprint going coming through dropping onto the line now to start us flying 200 through the 200 really good about 5.7 let’s see if he can come around and get pretty close to that 11 second Mark 119 11.4 492 for Zachary so just under that 11 and 1/2 second marks a great ride by him right Ben Murphy on track now and T mury kit so another young Sprinter similar sort of age to Zary maybe I’m wrong or maybe for the younger Riders we’ve got a um open gearing but not open wheel things so sorry I’ll try and stand a bit more around the rules on that anyway so B’s super powerful we know he really has got a good jump you know he’s known for having a really good first lap and so he’ll be wanting to really set a good flying 200 times today so you can see him really building the speed now as he comes around in to come and get the Bell he’s out of the seat he’s kicking he’s going he is launching being kicks into his effort so we know he’ll start strongly to hold on to it rocking and needs to keep himself stable to put that power through to the pedals about 5 1/2 seconds as the time is coming through set as it gets up to the halfway mark 11.45 So fractionally quicker than what we saw with Ben H sorry with Zachary but nothing in it on the track again if they go head to-head we’ll see some great battles there right Ryan Hansen coming around now on the blue he’s got the double just s Hansen Hamilton club Rider let’s go first to the double discs out here he’s coached by Zack Williams so really familiar with in terms of what’s Happening uh I know we’ve got sound Damian I’ve had that confirmed by somebody okay y right I’ll go back to M the camera so we we swapped to a different mic and we’re all go um right so Ryan comes into his the top right so he’s coming around to launch he’s going to come through and drop starts us flying 200 time getting those big discs going building that momentum just on that 5 and 1/2 second Mark let’s see if he can come around and break that 11 Mark for his time Brian finishes his time looks straight up at the board 11.3 it’s a good ride by Ryan 11.3 dou moment so they roughly seated the the Riders we’ll expect to see be it male or female that kind of move faster and faster on the way through but hey it’s not going to be exact um so we may see something change FN Underwood from T is up on the board now came home good solid 113 so we know at the Olympics depending on the air pressure we’ll see flying 200 times of about the 9 and 1/2 second mark this year little aerodynamic improvements all those things as well as the training we’ll see that be where the world’s best are going to be throwing times down we might see the 10sec mark broken today if conditions have been a little bit faster but probably it’s it’s not perfect so if we do see it somebody break that today it will be an outstanding ride okay Flynn’s building his time coming around out of the seat kicking kicking kicking ready to get in he’s in the seat dropping into that race Zone this looks pretty [Music] quick yep he’s just over that 5 Second 5 and 1/2 second Mark so he’s quickest thus far comes through takes it to the line 10.88 first Rider under 11 seconds today nice ride by Flyn right coming around now on the US kit is Ed Sims Sims so he trains here in the same group as these other boys I think he’s another one coached by Zack Wills USA colors on looking skit we’ll see them got about another six sprinters to come up on the M side and then we move to the woman again showing good confidence nice and high close to the boards to be able to maximize that you occasionally hear a sprinter who gets a little bit too close doing this and whacks the league against the board you see him getting super close there using that height coming down good line by ID getting out of the seat he’s pushing he drops in now what’s he going to deliver pushing on that back straight looking like he’s still trying to just get on top of that gear a little bit hits the flying 100 just over 5 and 1/2 seconds pushes through for the second half 11 flat so another nice ride the track Al Scher so Alex Scher coming around T now just he off to the junior worlds so we’re hoping he goes really well up there performance goes to Cambridge High here Cambridge obviously Alex is in preparation also for the Jun World in China so he’s another one that trains under Zack and has been for a few years to see he SE some really good results at pass Nationals Etc that helped get them the selection to Junior worlds that up in China this year and I’m expecting a a quick time from him I’m sure he will go under 11 let’s just hope for him it’s a a really good time this is the last sort of competition head out for these guys before Junior worlds in about 6 weeks time Alex launches he can see him pushing that big gear down in that Arrow position getting his time underway looks to be pushing through I think it’s going to be pretty quick it’s a big gear is pushing it is fastest it’s just over that 5sec flat mark does and it is 10.4 big jump from what we’ seen earlier will be one of over half a second quicker from where we’d seen those other Riders be really close EXC right we’ve got first of the more senior riders coming up now uh so this is Jared man so the next group of riders we’re all seeing are all a couple of years older what we saw with Alex Alex under 19 these guys are sort of around 2021 so Jared’s coming around egging in that aor position close to the boards you know they’ve just all these Riders get these initial basic right he’s got one more lap to Builder speed we’ll see with these big gears you see them out of the seat now building that height down the back straight want to get that gear going using that downhill acceleration they want to keep this momentum as you come around this corner now you’re out of the seat and you’re wanting to get that big gear going and he’s on to it Jared rode really good PV at Nationals it’s been a big Journey back from a huge concussion for him in Australia a couple of years ago as oi and he’s been going well let’s what he’s got today so drops through about 5 1/2 seconds for that first flying to 100 finishes his r93 11193 11.1 N3 for Jared on the track and the red normally KO and he has he spent two full days sitting down where he’s dead with a time so we got K on track now R the computer system control so he’s from Nelson but studying here at w universityal chionship now so trains with [Music] Jared we have Grassroots performance track groups another another group of uro and sprinters that train together Jason Russell puts in a huge amount of time coaching there doing the Sprint side Mike Davis doing the inero side Kai gets out of the seat now building the seat he’s coming around so he’s got half a lap to go before he will be want to be Bing he again rolled a PB at Nationals let’s see what he’s doing so he’s up here at W University Kai kicks into a slot drops in smooth line around that corner looks like he’s pushing a really big gear cuz he’s moving but the Cadence is a little bit slower than what we’ve seen so he just a touch off shoulder at the moment he comes through 10.7 10.76 [Music] 101 so he is in second place at the moment counting the retions I think now coming around New Zealand Jack Russell re retions is same thing again you can see he’s in the right head space he’s in that Sprinter position he’s calmly building his height calmly building his speed Riders will be riding a bigger gear than there so they’ll have less full revolutions where the power comes in in the meantime he going to come around to get two laps to go they’ll build a bit more speed using the downhill coming in so even staying up high you can see where there’s that height drop that goes from the peak of the corner to where you are on the streets he’s out of the seat now lifting that a little bit more so Jackson’s got phenomenal leg speed all bols a union with Junior sorry when they do lots more bits and pieces he’s out of the seat he’s launching he coming through I’d expect a quick time from Jackson see what it’s going to be fastest time we’ve seen thus far so we know that’s going to get around about that 10.4 Mark comes through to the line 10.41 second fastest just slower than Alex at this point in time on the track the red the white coming the home strike so Li Kev are coming through now and the red Japanese Kit so he and Jackson spend lots of time training together and the gyman on the track everyone effectively from Jared Jackson Liam who else we got was Kyo uh Tom Choy Luke blackwoods all these boys are a part of a performance track group um that trains together with Jason Russell giving them a hand guidance running the motorbike like all those things that help him go fast so Liams building that time for Speed now so much what we saw with Jackson building progressively staying high on those boards looks to be coming around that corner pretty quick getting out of the seat now giving it a launch chuing it in can see that focus and effort on the face as he comes through Lots into his slot drops into the back straight just hauling happy to go slightly wide there use the red line the line on the back straight doesn’t matter it’s fast as we’ve seen thus far can he hold it through 10263 263 that’s our fastest thus far good time I suppose since we know that conditions are a little bit air pressy today right next up Tom Choy tudu going to Cambridge High now the Tom Choy is ex career they were in Australia for a number of years training in Brisbane they’ve recently relocated to New Zealand Tom is under 19 he is seriously quick unfortunately no he holds Korean passport they haven’t selected him for the junior worlds but we’re going to see a time that shows that they should have considered him so he could easily beat our fastest today we’ve got just one more male Rider to follow Tom so he’s building his speed you see he’s build it a little bit slower than Li different approach now he’s going to get out of the SE and attack it a bit more he’s launching it down the back straight he’s coming through gets into the their position comes [Music] in I can tell he’s rolling it quick he’s just still getting on top of that gear let’s have a look it is a fraction faster though this could be our 10sec break what can Tom do 9986 that’ss off to him first person to break 10 that we’ve seen of that sort of level so 9986 for Tom that’s an awesome effort congratulating him super fast he cheers out to his parents he’s stoked with that eff good on him come on K take him to the junior World Fant and we know we were just talking before it’s slow air pressure conditions it’s not hot in the valad Drone know big comps I’m I’m here in a p of shorts I am here in long pants today and shoes it is not hot in here is not fast conditions plus the air pressure okay let’s change rer Luke Blackwood last of the men to go out he’s building his speed with Luke we know he can Chuck out a similar fast timer expecting something in the low 10 will he break 10 as well Luke will have seen that time he’ll be motivated let’s see what he can come through and do go [Music] Jason okay sorry Luke’s battling around the back straight here he’s launching through he’s just a fraction outside Tom so it’s going to be a very quick time let’s see what Luke can finish off with 10423 10. 423 okay so that is all our boys through so at the moment Tom Choy will be quickest uh then Liam then Alex schaer then Luke Blackwood will be your top four now we’ll move into the wom’s qualifying women’s open qualifying we’ve got aelia wood coming around now from T again so we’ got about six women in the open woman so she’s coming around building her height look obviously it’s going to be slightly different from the boys they just get more testosterone more muscle Ro see here coming around out of the seat kicking into it ready to launch her Sprint as she drops down accelerating going down the boards looks like she’s got leag speed looks about right so this should be a good time for her hopefully so milia comes through crosses the line she set a time of 13.1 13 .16 for a milia just Tom as we in the program 96 head in New Zealand under 19 record one the he help you still got another year Junior also many Collins just coming around yeah true somebody’s just pointed out actually Tom Choy is still first year Junior not second year Junior so he’s got another whole year at this age group right so min’s coming around she’s got her height nicely on the boards building her momentum she will know when she wants to get out of the seat and give it that kick going to come to the downhill ramp she’s using that accelerating she’s happy she’s launching she’s getting a line going and clock starts for her so she’s running quite a high leg speed about 6.3 for that first half lap she coming around she will come through and she will finish 12.96 that makes two the quickest of the female open this far at 12.96 Nelson Cooper one of the Juniors can’t it’s male or female apologies um sh a quick time [Music] earlier right Piper Newton out on track now also from manow 2 [Music] so she’s got another lap before she’s kicking into her effort so simil she’s building that height looks like she’s going to get out of the seat just before the downhill get her speed built up comes through and launches still out of the seat pushing hard building it drops in now gets her effort underway soly we’ll see the woman spin a little bit faster than the boys they’ve got the strength to push that extra big gear she’s just over that 6 and 1/2 second Mark as well what would she come through and finish your time with I just over 13 seconds Flats a good ride by here right we’ve now got Sophie the coming around in Grassroots kit so she’s one of the Riders we talked about all those boys riders that train with the Grassroots Performance Group here that Jason oversees she’s coached by one of the New Zealand track Squad who’s just down there Shan Fon who’s off to the Olympics so Shan’s her coach so she’ll be here looking to see how Sophie’s if it goes so he’s got another lap after this to be able to build his speed and effort so starting to wind it up so Sophie’s getting on top of that [Music] gear out of the seat now kicking in as she comes down to get the Bell pushing really hard launches in she’s in a real nice stretched out Arrow position let’s see if she can maximize it looking similar sort of cadence we’ve seen from the others just bouncing around fighting to get in that right position on the seat just a fraction outside the time we’ve seen thus far what’s she going to come through and finish with 12.2 that will make her the quickest of the woman thus far 12.2 nice ride Sophie again particularly when we consider the conditions today being a little bit heavy Jun China so now coming up Caitlyn Kelly G4 cycling so training down on the inago valone so we’re going to see I think the next I’ll double check I think the next young three women are all off to Junior worlds it’s part of the New Zealand team let me just remind myself yep so Raley will be in the team Sprint I’m not sure in terms of what the individuals in terms of who’s going to do the Sprint and who’s going to do the curing out of the New Zealand woman they went to Junior worlds last year for the team Sprint so they’re all through for the second year this year right so Caitlyn’s launching now in that stretched that Arrow position let’s see what sort of time she can shut down how close is she going to go to Sophie’s time at 12 12.2 remembering she is a little bit younger than Sophie Sophie would be more around 2021 6 seconds flat so it’s pretty good 1215 12.56 so she goes fastest just fractionally quicker than Sophie so really even they’re going to have some good matches this weekend forner then last Le Jody Blackwood off to the junor worlds so coming through in pink in the EF education Riley Faulkner another one of the junior woman’s Sprint team I think that’s those campag discs you see the white logo that does that big swirl thing you can catch at this sort of speed and as she builds her speed we won’t see that swirl it will just become a white glare so it’s really exciting to see a group of young female sprinters coming through together being able to train together push each other there’s always plenty of boys around with plenty of testosterone but it’s great to see a good number of woman coming through so they’ve got um I suppose following from what we’re seeing at the elite wom ranks at the moment where we’ve got four women off to the Olympics so Riley’s going to be coming to get the Bell this time you can see here out of the seat now building speed just a bit of a twitch there those double dis can be tricky but she’s got it under control again she launches hasn’t let that unase her let’s see what she can do on this back straight 5.6 so she’s a fraction outside of what we’ve seen 11.38 she is the fastest of the woman thus far so she’s gone faster than Sophie and Caitlyn good ride by here 11.38 right lastly onto the track current national champ wearing her national champ kit Jody Blackwood so we saw her older brother Luke earlier Jody will be the last of our Sprint qualifiers this morning and after this there’s then a workshop on the track so there’s a a break and Racing for a while but they will go through um and I suppose 12:00 is when racing will actually start again with the first of the endurance qualifying so Jody’s building a speed you can see she’s coming in probably a bit faster than what we’ve seen the other open as mentioned earli the stretched in that position and it’s exactly that so it’s for those haven’t [Music] many she kicks in she’s running down the bank now launching into a turn Jody’s time is underway the clock’s on she’s looking quick as she always does that does look very good to the first half 5.6 so she’s going to be around that 11 second Mark as well probably just over 11.4 so Riley fulman has gone slightly quicker 11.46 so Riley fastest qualifier Jody second Caitlyn third and Sophie fourth will be your top four so hey so we have uh breaken Racing for a while you’ll still see you can leave the stream on Daman so the stream will stay on so there’s a medicine Camp there’ll be an warmup for the endurance who aren’t doing that sort of things and then we’ll be back for the first of the endurance races at 12:00 newal just get together with so hey so we will have uh breaken Racing for a while you’ll still see [Music] you cra [Music] [Music] [Music] to you back to back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you back to you [Music] back you back you you you [Music] [Music] [Music] step time I’ve been flying from town to town fromon to Tha I’ve been around the GL to Soul we are her tonight we will fly above the we are heres toight yeah we are heroes Tonight We Will Fly Above the SK we are [Music] her feel like a dite ready to explore right up in the sky I need [Music] you [Music] around soul we are hero tonight we will fly above the sky We Are heres Tonight yeah We Are heres Tonight We Will Fly Above the SK we are her toight [Music] [Music] now [Music] we are her tonight we will fly above the we been [Music] flyon been around the GL to prot your soul [Music] last [Music] BL [Music] he he [Music] [Music] last [Music] [Music] d [Music] he he [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah [Music] Rec watch next F top [Music] there ha rolling around back for her summer break from University in the USA she received a fantastic should she ear a wonderful s scholarship from the University over there at the USA she’s back on her midar break it’s great to see she took the time to come to the Wednesday night training sessions for the Cambridge High School Cy team she was a member of years ago few years ago she turned out also on the Tuesday and Wednesday to the aners it’s great to see [Music] my got there yeah [Music] while I rolling around there we see the new South Jersy blue and white and rer number 68 and rer number [Music] 69 both 15 and come over the schs Championships they Ro extremely well on the team Sprint top [Music] [Music] austral Australia so you see coming around shortly they’re only under 15 [Music] rers good such competion he been last the road [Music] I [Music] spe for live world [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] the o [Music] [Music] [Music] he o [Music] [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] n [Music] [Music] tting one two [Music] yeah right so next up we’re going to be into the medicine sort of training session is finished um and we’re going to be into Sprint quarterfinals which as I understand they’re going to be doing them as a three up so we’ll wait to see come out it doesn’t look like they’re particularly on track in terms of timings they’ve not given us any guidance in terms of timing per event the only thing I’ve seen thrown out there is after this for the endurance Riders another on track warm up at 11:40 I’m assuming that’s going to be maybe 15 20 minutes and then we would be into um the Snowballs points race so we’ve got men’s qualifying a andb grade to happen there all right we’ll turn the music back on and we will turn yeah are you looking to hire a bike buy a bike fix a bike buy something to go on your bike look good on your bike grab a shuttle with your bike we’ve got you covered at Riverside Adventures Bike Shop yeah in Cambridge at the Village room by the way I’m m that’s way [Music] oh one [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] he [Applause] [Music] [Music] he he [Music] [Music] [Music] this let [Music] [Music] we’re ready for the first te S and L you can make your way please to the noral assing point for the Sprint so that’s the middle of the front straight and then [Music] moving right hello everyone yep we’re good to go got sound hey so we’ve got the first of the match sprints coming up now we’re going to see a mixture here some of them are going to be the traditional two up Sprint essentially where that’s the way the numbers work but actually the majority of them are going to be Champions League style three up Sprints so makes it really tricky you’ve got two people to keep your eye on not just one so we’ll see the first of these Sprints get underway shortly you can see on the screen they’re just rolling through who who all those matches are so they’re drawing their places whether the first second or third in terms of when they roll away see coners bring them up shortly to get the first of these Sprints so we’ll keep just seeing the scoreboard scrolling them all through so actually get that first heat up there so just reminder again what we saw in the Sprint qualifying they’ll be up in three categories so there’s the younger riders that are on the restricted gears as in restricted gear size I think it’s for 98 in and just normal spoke wheels and then we’ve got two levels of open category where they can have an unrestricted gear as well as they can Chuck on All the fast wheels now they five Spike their desk all those sort of BS and pieces okay looks like the first of them are coming up onto track now to get clipped in I don’t have any St sheets at this point so here come the first two women up to he’ll give them their instructions and know what they can and can’t do what they do need to do and on the inside draw number one is Sarah and on the outside dra two just remind them instruction first half so in say instructions to first half lap they’ve got to go no slower than walking speed they cross the line on the other side number 22 leads away Lexie and the Scot K the yellow kit in behind [Applause] here so got three laps to sort out who is first over the Finish Line you’re going to see Lexie just coming and keeping a close eye on her opposition in front just easy clean nothing too slow nothing for the officials to worry about so they have a problem they’ve got start G for example if they’re going much slower than walking speed or they stop to do a track stand before that Pursuit line on the first half lap they’ll blow the gun to rematch but ESS with where they are is not problem still going slow slow on S looking behind her trying to keep an eye out where Alexi is making sure she’s not coming above Alexi is basically just sitting in that shadow directly behind not giving her an easy eyesight as to where she is so on the front’s got a little bit more now’s beeny roll through in front so the swwa order they’re going to come around to get the Bell this time so was something like that s was a fraction quicker but really nothing in it in terms of this qualifying so it’s going to be who gets this right Sarah jumps away first remember these Riders are on got a Max gear so once they get spun out it’s hard to get any more speed so s’s got to that use that downhill use that surprise got to jump over Lexie because we know they’re on the same time it’s going to be hard forx to get those sort of four five bike links back from here so I think s’s going to come take that Lex is running out but she’s not going to be able to pass it before the line so SAR will take that one use that jump with sort of a lap and a quarter to go a good move by here the next and I’m assuming these first rounds are Sprint will be essentially we call it sudden death and they will winner will go straight through and the others will go to ride somebody else and then later on we might see it move to sort of a best of three Sprint format so next two Riders are coming up onto the track so number 23 in the T M kit Hazel Gardner and she’s going to be up against Elise pis oh sorry Elise pal apologies so Hazel from tiu she had the quicker qualifying time a f the New Zealand development Sprint coach bringing her up number one Elie that’s on the inside hael so Hazel’s part of the light speed team it’s been put together as a woman’s team by the man who’s holding her he does a lot cycling organizes the I Junior Tour up a couple of weekends ago of the ability of so we’ve got a straight swap not what you see so Hazel’s going to actually lead us away from the front so we’ve seen an instant swap from the start not something you normally see now we’re going to swap back seeing a leise basically coming through and dropping back into that border where they were so Hazel Rider two from TI at the moment just coming around this first LP everyone sort of just watching things together so at least on the front she’s just sort of keeping an eye over a shoulder not as you say not fully looking backwards like we’re going to see some of the front sprinters a little bit later on the girls coming around building a bit more speed now they’re going to be getting the Bell this time when they come around effectively shoulder to- shoulder so this is like a dead man Sprint what I mean by that is just side by side no one’s able to run at the draft so we’ve seen Hazel jump that a little bit earlier so she the fastest qualifier so with that dead even star she hasn’t offered any draft she’s been able to use that little bit more explosive power sprinting style she’s jumped away to a few B Le she will take the win this time and Elsie will come through and she will pick up the second spot this time so winter Hazel she will go through to the win for the next round yeah look very different very non-traditional Sprint style from those two [Music] okay so next up we’re into the open woman we’ve got Caitlyn Sophie and I’ll remind myself who the food Rider is there Mia wood I think that will be so I’ve got Jason Russell who’s going to come and join us in commentary and it will be good to have him Jason knows way more about the sprinting lck than I do so fantastic for him to come along and become a new volunteer commentator with us today we’ll just plug him in so we just change that over so I can you say something Jason morning team how are we going today good welcome we can hear you loud and clear thanks for joining us so we obviously don’t see too many three-up Sprints do we sort of a a Champions League thing but but not a traditional Sprint no very much and that’s exactly where they’ve taken it from uh Champions the Champions League platform um and so they’re looking to run with it it gets more Riders through faster uh keeps things flowing along a bit better makes a little bit more of a spectacle of it um probably not the best preparations for the likes of uh Caitlyn Kelly heading over to Junior WIS uh who will obviously be racing two up at that event maybe it’ll help her reaction time Jason she’s going to have to a lot hey so Caitlyn leads us out so she’s in the blue G4 South kit in the front um we’ve got Sophia Jers she’s basically in the rear and the Grassroots Performance Kit and in the middle um Amelia wood Amelia wood so she’s got the challenge she’s got to have her eyes forward and backwards which makes it a bit challenging yeah pros and cons to uh every position obviously she’s slightly closer to the front and Sophie and still able to get some draft from Caitlyn uh but you needs to have her head on a swivel and so Sophie’s just taking that position away from him now and moved in yep cuz obviously there’s no point Sophie’s going I can draft off somebody but if I’m six links back that doesn’t work so Sophie’s going to open up first she’s going to come through with a bit of speed she’s going to come and take the lead over Caitlyn Caitlyn wants to get back on terms uh Caitlyn was a fraction quicker than Sophie so she’ll try and run at this wheel down the back straight so she’s doing that she’s closing that Gap will she be able to go around Sophie still out of the seat Caitlyn’s up on her hip it’s going to become a drag race down this final straight Sophie’s pushing oh we we’re on a slight angle here Jason maybe Sophie slightly yeah I’d say Sophie hung on to the inside there she did a nice job with the second kick uh halfway down the back straight which uh then had Caitlyn sitting on the hip all the way through turns three and four which is a very hard place to live as a sprinter yeah and so effectively that did become a two-up Sprint didn’t it now they unfortunately as you say for um Amelia wood the way they jumped and got away she then wasn’t in that mix and so it did become almost like a traditional two-up Sprint in some senses it did so Sophie will take that one she will go through to the next round um we’ve got basically a two up Sprint by the lock andly somebody comes up onto the track next before we get this put up so Jody Blackwood New Zealand Junior Sprint champ off to the junior worlds she’s in white she’s going to lead us away looks like we may have a scratching cuz only who are coming to the uh fence so Minnie Collins she’s in the green she’s got position two Jody Blackwood position one cool that better sweet we’ve got lots of new audio and visual kit to get used to this weekend so it is very exciting to have all these bits and pieces is going on having tun the music down that probably would be logical so we’re going to see Jody and white lead us away commers are just confirming those instructions these two have done a lot of match Sprints Jody fastest qualifier so she’s certainly about a second and a half quicker so she will have an advantage so Jason Jody’s quicker she’s on the front how do you think she might ride or approach this being the faster qualify uh so Jody would be looking to try and keep uh mini very close to rear wheel uh and just conserve energy and take take an easy win uh and conserve that energy to go through into the next round so she just be looking to keep mini nice and close uh coming through now with two to go she’ll look to start accelerating a little bit just gently so she doesn’t get jumped from behind and uh end up with a big gap uh and just slowly progressing at a very com pace which you can see her doing now and you talked around keeping it close so know so most non cyclist or nons sprinters would be thinking okay we’ll close the drafting Lots why close anyway we’ll pick that up after the race cuz that’ll be interesting to understand so Jody’s just kicked now she’s she’s launched she’s going to open out Minnie’s trying to see if she can get back on that draft but there’s not any Draft when you sort of that many bike links so as Jason said Jody’s done what she needs to do she can roll this over the line keep in control and not do too much work and be able to save your max effort for another race hey s Jon just go pick up what you talked why why keep it close what do you mean by that what’s the advantage for a sprinter in that uh so basically we call it you force them to come off a dead wheel so whilst they are in your draft and they using less energy to go at their Pace they can’t build any speed from there so for them to come out off your wheel basically they have to kick and Excel harder than you can uh whereas if the back four or five bike links back and they start to run towards the wheel they start to pick up free speed as the bike gets in more and more into the draft and it starts to roll faster then they get to the back wheel and they’re going 2 or 3 km an hour faster and then they can just slingshot off that wheel and pass now awesome that’s why it’s awesome to have you here I can talk a whole lot of nonsense but it’s great to get your technical insights on this sort of stuff it’s it’s really good right we’ve got another two up one here um so we’ve got Riley felner so she’s in the pink or the E education kit looks like she’s drawn position two and pip and Newton um so she’s in the Mana two green GRE she looks like she’s drawn position one so Dylan day he’s one of the sprinters I’d normally expect to see up in the male ranks here helping out today obviously he is helping that riding good good to see Dylan here today he’s got some work commitments uh over the weekend which has prevented him from taking part in the event uh but it’s good to see that he’s turning up and he’s uh giving back to his teammates and uh other members in the sport uh with what spare time he does have you’re right this whole thing is completely reliant on lots of volunteers um so no it’s really nice and we see the older riders coming back and if they can’t race volunteering some of their time to help out okay so Piper is going to lead us away we saw Riley drop a a really quick time um she was 11.38 so she was the fastest qualifier of all the open woman so we know she’s got a bit of speed even though she she had a front disc on for that qualifying she gave herself a little bit of a fright just when she was getting going in the corner but it didn’t affect to your time so our writer in pink Riley she is off to the junior worlds it’s great to see her sitting that quick time having a bit of form coming in so she’s just in my eyes sitting that classic sort of couple of bike links back at the moment just keeping an eye on the rider in front building a little bit of height obviously height means you can accelerate using less effort using that gravity to get you going height uh gives you two things because you’re your high you’ve actually created distance and as you said uh it allows you to excel off the banking using the banking just done it there didn’t she yeah so as you say she was able to just drop down that banking accelerated up she was aware when she came up onto Piper that she she had that speed difference and so she said long way up but I might as well just go and she is gone she’s out of there she will take that one good to see that she’s pushed the all the way to the line uh if I was coaching I would have been yelling at her to set up halfway down the back straight because the Gap that she had was uh so big there was no way that the other rider was going to come back and close that and yep so as you sa for the big comp that’ll be and that’s where this weekend so good in terms of all the learning so all going well she will hear that feedback from somewhere and she’ll be able to use that as she goes through obviously into junior worlds where it’s much more important was here that’s the great advantage of doing this you get Lon things get to take them away somebody will point out that little tip for her right we’re into the Open men next we got the first of the three up Sprints for them looks like we have Ryan Hansen and blue has drawn position one um Kyle L has drawn position two and I’ll just try and work out who it is in is that be mury yep be mury so this will be uh a very good race uh i’ give the edge to uh Kyle L very talented Rider a very smart intelligent Rider knows how to use the track uh knows how to position himself very well yeah I’m just looking in terms of time wise he uh the two young boys cuz yet they’re definitely a bit younger than him um they were basically in that sort of low mid 11s whereas Kai was just under the 11 so he’s certainly quicker okay flag the order they we on the track Kai’s draw position one Ryan in two and Ben in three so as you said Jason K’s got the most experience really smart Rider what do you is he going to want to leave it too much in terms of match coming off these guys or do you think he’ll try and stay in position one for the whole race uh I’m actually picking that KY will give up position one okay uh he’ll drift to the back and leave quite a big gap and then he’ll look to run these boys down he has that flamboyant nature about him so he’ll want to make a good show of it and we’ve as you say seen things happen already exactly as you predicted K gave up position one Ben realized that in terms out three up start he almost needed a bit of speed to get Round the Corner guys come back into position one all these Riders you’ll see these sprinters super confident moving their bike around Lots know to what us you know non-s sprinters seem a pretty dratic movements around the track they’re very confident moving their bikes around in these sort of scenarios really really bunched up aren’t they so Sprints opening up we’re seeing been look to sort of do things on the outside Kai was able to hold him there but you got to remember if you’re watching just one person then you’ve got to watch the others Ryan’s able to do his own thing down on the inside k’s now dropping through Ben’s going to be able to come around the top of Ryan KY looks like he’s going to be able to open up and get that Gap these other two aren’t quite able to get in the draft Ryan’s going to come around a little bit on the inside that shorter line after B did everything to try and match KY so it’ll be KY Ryan from bin as the way that’ll finish up they shake hands and good Sportsman like Mana so uh there was a perfect example of uh what we kind of refer to as the power of the corner uh where Ben was actually bars up on Ryan going into the corner but because he’s traveling a lot further uh riding around on the red line as opposed to Ryan on the black line and it’s just so much more fatiguing uh you saw that fatigue start to take shape halfway through the corner and Ryan starting to come through underneath them and came through and secured the second position quite easily in and what is the distance difference on being the black line on the red line is it is it like half a meter is it 20 cm do you know what it is Jas no not off the top we’ll make it up then we we’ll pretend it’s like 30 cm somewhere in the middle so there you go you got a 30 cm Advantage being on the black line you H it here from the commentators until someone corrects us yeah uh I think it’s about 16 m per lap the difference between the black and the blue line okay uh so you could probably work a ratio out on that right next Sprint we’ve got coming up position one we’ve got Jackson Russell position two uh Jared man position three Zachary Willet so Zachary is the the younger Rider out of the group matching it with his older more experienced Riders around the country so memor what’s that 28 viewers we’re hearing go and tell your friends Nationals we got to about 90 so we need we need we need to Triple our our viewership okay so Jackson’s going to lead us away Jared and blue in the middle so Jackson in the New Zealand CIT um palon North boys high will be Zachary wallet will be in position three so uh Zach’s Zach’s uh the national champion under 17 National Champion uh he’s only a newcomer to the world of sprinting he’s been an endurance Rider up until uh basically this year he probably still is dabling in a little bit of endurance my understanding when he won it at Nationals he was still only doing endurance training so he’s got uh a wise head from up here who’ve been giving him some time and suggesting stuff but was blind away with how he went in the Sprints and National he acknowledge he’ been trading him like a an endurance track Rider so now Jackson is super confident of moving his bike around he is you’ll see one Rider it’s him who can look forward back know everything that’s going on and still keep his bike pointing in a safely Direction so Jackson’s making sure he knows where Jared is he knows Jared can build speed keeping an eye back almost like he’s riding a Ken and and now he’s just tunning it up in this last lap he’s just going to come around on that back straight use the shortest passing Lane to go straight past Zachary Jared’s now coming around to the same so Jackson’s going to take this one out easily he’s rolled through done what he needed to do Jared in second Zachary in third it’s a good smart ride by Jackson yeah he wrote it well uh good example of writing from that middle position number two position uh he would have liked to have uh held that Gap uh a little bit longer to run it uh Zack’s wheel but Jared was putting the pressure on him from that three position which forced him to basically close that Gap earlier than he would want to yeah so what you’re thinking there is rather than having to close it almost on the front straight and having to pass on this corner just past us that if he’d been able to maybe run it on the back straight run it in the corner and then pop out around the back straight would have been the ideal outcome obviously it’s always hard to do ideal in the middle of a contest yes exactly uh so he would have liked to have held that that uh four bike down the home straight and then accelerate through the turns one and two and looking to hit the wheel as he popped out onto the back straight uh use that extra speed to uh get over Zack nice and quick and then back into the sprinters L Cool okay next up we’ve got three young men from different parts of the country so we got e Sims he’s wearing us strip but I promise you he is from here in the W we’ve got Luke Blackwood in Black Count’s manalat so he’s at W University down here but originally out of Oakland so he’s coming up and then we have got an apologies if I’m pronouncing this wrong Jason luno yoden narb who is out of gForce cycling down in Southland no a new writer uh to to the scene and good to see um so I’ve not seen him right before at all yeah he did a good time uh he was about 11 and a half was his qualifying time I’m not sure what age group he is whether he’s under 19 or whether he’s he’s open so open I mean at Elite in that sense so they can be up to under 23 I think it is in this competition so the idea is where they’re under 17 under 19 they can sort of hopefully get some good racing experience now with those around them so Ed leads us away Luke following him left a bit of a gap rolling away reasonably quickly certainly no concern around that not being walking speed to start up with so I think Luke probably likes to go from speed like this does he Jason rather than from a slow start so what Ed’s done here might suit him yeah uh ID had quite a substantial kind of a gap there he could have chanced his arm and uh gone for a long Sprint y uh which you’ll know actually Luke coming from an endurance background has quite a handy long Sprint himself uh but Luke will be quite happy that he kind of held off and now Ed’s progressing it nicely for Luke to run to the wheel so that was a perfect demo what you’re talking about before wasn’t it he was able to just run into the wheel past us on the back straight get into ID draft pop out as he went around the corner he’s going to pick up this win and obviously you got to remember these are seated with some of the faster Riders against the slower riders in these Heats so we’re going to see there should be these sort of dominant wins and then we’ll see the competition close up and close up as the the Heats move through the day so Luke takes that one from ID from yur from Southland and we must have one more heat of the open me or maybe a couple more Heats of the Open men to go I’d say at least two more Heats because we yet to see Liam kaver and Tom Troy yeah true they were one and two so you’re right so they’re not going to be in the same heat so we’ll expect to see them in two different Heats so it looks like Flynn Underwood from T is going to come up and be one in here Alex Scher looks like he’s coming up as well so it’s fly Underwood up from T at the moment so two riders in t kit Flynn is in position two he’s slightly smaller Slimmer heavy you want to describe in Alex Alex is bit taller stockier um his look but he drawn position three uh and so Alex threw down pretty quick time he was about 10.4 um was a good time for him under 19 heading to Junior WIS is he first year or second year under 19 first year first year under 19 same as Tom Choy yep uh yeah obviously in a different training phase to a lot of others he’s looking to uh peak in four or five weeks when he gets to uh junior worlds in China and so he’s coming on a good form here it was a nice time nice ride by Alex that was good nice to see that form coming so when you say different training thing so let’s let’s move the older boys now would they be peing for this sort of thing have they got anything big up now or four weeks how would they be treating this weekend’s competition uh today is just really just uh race experience and almost just another training day so all of those boys are all in heavy load in the gym uh cuz they’re not looking to be uh performing any kind of uh quick times until later on this year early next year yes it’s real midseason for them away okay so we’ve got miles um from County’s manal leading us away Flynn following him and Alex coming through in position three at this stage so Jason maybe I put you in Alex’s head he’s position three fastest qualifier he can see everyone in front of him how do you think he’s thinking about rolling this uh so Alex should be reasonably happy just to sit off the back and and use the uh speed advantage that he does have over the other two Riders and look to run at them he mainly just has to make sure that someone like Flynn Underwood doesn’t open up too much of a gap out front and when you say too much of a gap like what what’s so they were about point4 of a second apart and qualifying so we’re just seeing Alex sort of reacting to Flynn moving now getting a bit of height that sort of gap’s comfortable you know point for a second you can close that so where where he’s where he’s sitting now he’ll be super comfortable with uh Alex would have moved forward at that point because Flynn was starting to accelerate run out that wheel like you’ve told me cide on the corner Alex will get a little bit of a downhill on the line uses speed so he will take one Flynn will take two miles will take three sorry Jason interrupt you mid-flight but you were talking in teams of Alex wanting to be back there wanting not to let too much of a gap and running and what’s point4 of a second in terms of distance when they’re at this sort of speed is it five bik links two bike links uh you could probably be out to six or eight bike links with point4 of the difference roughly half a second uh and still comfortably run that down okay so yes so as you say that that speed difference there you go people that’s what that distance means you can actually close a massive Gap right look like we’ve got just two riders coming up here so we’ve got Liam Kev looks like he’s drawn position one in the red and white Japanese Kit um he picked up after being at Junior worlds a few years ago and we’ve got another Rider here from manowa 2 we getting clipped in and getting sorted so Dylan days bringing Liam up Leon’s just getting his straps done what is it with no socks with sprinters Jason isn’t it all around Euros socks these days is just a sprinters thing just a sprinters thing really it’s uh traditional no socks uh on on a big race day you will actually see them they’ll have uh their speed boots on which cover over their shoes and come halfway up the carves uh cuz that’s the UCI regulation no higher than halfway uh because the the fabric in itself is more Arrow than their shaved legs yep I’ve all got as you say aerodynamics is all that matter shaved legs help and then Aeros Sox are even better so I think it comes back to that thing you talked with these guys in midseason it’s low it’s it’s all around enjoying getting the racing them this weekend and there will be bigger events later in the year where that AOS sock ET get pulled out okay so Liam’s leading us away Leon’s going to stick nice and close this one started off slower than we’ve seen the last couple sort of steady rolling but not as much as what we saw from some of those three UPS we’re riders in the front we’re trying to push things and as as we discussed earlier Liam will be very happy with Leon sitting close to his whe because it makes it hard for Leon to accelerate yep so lap and a half to go now they’re going to come around to get the Bell this time speed’s just building in a progressive manner Leon’s got a bit of height he looks like he’s maybe thinking about jumping underneath Li’s been able to just stand front of accelerating you’re did right Li kept him perfectly dead on the wheel there hasn’t he Jason so they haven’t even accelerated now they’re getting out of the seat only really 150 to go so Liam’s been able to open out a bit of a gap so you must have been telling him exactly what to do was he was he hearing our loudspeaker thoughts there Jason earlier he could be one of the uh 28 people listening to the uh to the live stream could and going I’ll take those tactics on board um that was a very nice example of Liam he was actually kind of a little bit in no man’s land kind of being mid-track just above the blue line and Leighton went to uh use a little bit extra height and dive under Liam Liam closed the door by dropping right in front of him and then Leon was back to square one back on a dead wheel Liam was accelerating through into the corner and there was nothing he could do about it and it’s probably late in doing the right thing but I say just somebody older and stronger being able to Surge even more than what you had and even though you thought you had the element of surprise they were able to yeah take control and that’s the thing on the front isn’t it you get to control a little bit about what happens in the Sprint don’t you you you are in more control uh than riding from number two right next up Cooper Nelson is in Black I hope I’m pronouncing that correctly and we’ve got Tom Choy and the TM kit from Cambridge High here and so we saw Tom fastest qualifier drop a super quick what drop 9863 and we’ve commented not hot in here air pressure’s phenomenal so unfortunately not fast condition so really quick Time by him and in slow condition so he is absolutely obvious favorite in the Sprint to take this one out he’ll be able to use that that big speed difference to his Advantage yeah most definitely uh atmospheric conditions are poor we’ve got a high over over top so the barometric pressure is high uh and it’s freezing cold outside so it’s not conducive to going fast at all so that was a phenomenal Time by Tom hey so that would have made you really pleased as as coach you obviously you know put a lot of time and expertise into Tom I know I’ve come in here and seen you riing up the motorbike dragging them around what sort of speed are you dragging these guys around behind the motorbike in here when you’re doing speed efforts uh so will’ll max out at around about that 90k an hour mark uh which is incredibly fast so that’s 90k on the speedo on the bike uh you got to give plus or minus for the accuracy of the speedo so we see Tom give a bit of a Fleck trying to see if he can convince Cooper to get things going yep he’s just wanting uh Cooper to to accelerate a bit by throwing some faints at him so literally when I come in here quite often I get to see Jason leading the Riders around at that sort of 90k an hour it is phenomenal so Tom’s opening the Sprints up he’s just basically checking where things are he’s taking control from the front he’s not doing too much he’s saving his leagues for lad just accelerating in a calm manner but he’s just got so much power and speed to burn you can just see that difference that he’s able to open out with that big gear nice win by Tom he will not have expanded too much of his super fast twitch muscles in that one and he’ll be able to use them again for Sprint later on look good effort by Cooper it’s just you’re up against somebody who has a whole speed differential over everyone else here today and it’s a it’s a great learning experience for Cooper to uh line up against someone of the caliber of Tom and just see uh how quick he is how he rides the bike and hopefully Cooper will take away a lot of learnings from that and look to integrate those into his his own training and development as he moves forward hey well that ends up that round of Sprint matches we’ve got essentially the urance Riders got a bit of an on track warmup coming up and then I think we’ll see the first of the endurance races in about sort of 15 20 minutes time at about midday Jason thank you very much great to have your insights um you are welcome back anytime uh my pleasure always good to have a chat cool thanks man [Music] la a [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] n [Music] he [Music] [Music] n [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] hey welcome back to National track series first of the endurance races today um so we want to shout out a big thanks to arer rowa gaming trust um we want to thank additional SP sponsors sell Karima Ro cranks Etc Elite look Bond cycling Subway harway and Whitakers in terms of sponsors supporting this weekend right so we have women’s snowballs points race coming up now I will find my understanding in terms of how this is going to work and apologies I have asked the start sheets to come up but we haven’t been given any yet so they’re going to use this as a seating as to whether we’ve got one or two women field I suspect for the woman we’re just going to have one and they’re just going to use as a snowballs points race so there going to be a Sprint every two laps and basically they will start no doubt one point and move through to 10 points for the last Sprint it it’ll be just the winner that would take the Sprint out hey I’ve been joined we had Jason whose Sprint coach joined us before we’ve now got Mike Davis who’s an endurance coach joining us now so really awesome to have your insights joining us Mike thanks for for coming along hey Simon how’s it going good mate I hear you landed a big Kingfish a couple of days ago yeah right you’ve got to have Variety in your life eh you do would have been a mint day there’s no wind around at the moment so I imagine it was just like a mil Pond out there was it yeah it was spectacular and then in your off days you’re able to come in and be racing it’s pretty cool right this is a good size field day this isw it’s a really awesome woman’s Feld um so that’s why they’ve got to hold them off the rail so we’re underway we’ll get a neutral app to start here obviously normally we’ve got no someone who’s got pulled a back wheel straight away so we will have to do a restart so we will see what are they going to do they want to no they’re going to call it yep so they’re going to call it we’ll just come back up okay so let’s pill a bit of time in fish while we’re doing this so snowball points race you obviously get a whole lot more points for for finishing the last Sprint right at the front what’s your style so if you had a rider out there that you were coaching what would you be suggesting points come late I like hold on to your hold on to your pennies the the first generally you’re find and I I mean it with the like people will get excited and um a lot of people will go really hard for the first couple of Sprints and obviously the power that it takes to win in those first couple of Sprints let’s see uh in a guys race it might be 14500 Watts but it’ll be really high but as um and and so typically in a points race the guys that win the first Sprint or second Sprint often don’t win the last Sprint even though this is snowball points race yep looking at the way this is going to work it’s going to be a World of Pain yeah cuz you say you can win the first second third Sprint but it’s still going to give you six points somebody takes out the last sprints getting you know 8 n 10 points yeah so if you’re strategic you’re try and win maybe third and fourth or or somewhere around there and then make sure you’re good for 9 or 10 so we need to be able to recover but it’s interesting just seeing the different skills that people have you know if someone um some of them just like to stretch your legs first up he yep I’m just going to try and get us um sorry I haven’t got start sheet so I’ll just try and find the overall writers that have entered we’ll have that for who we’ve got on this field okay so just reading through what they’re sting out so we’ve got Amelia Sykes Molly Hayes Riley Arro Lucy Reef Maya wolfenden Elena warl Sophie Maxwell Hannah Payne maaa McDonald Christina Scott Mela pery Jesse Thompson Nina War Eliza McKenzie Lily ke Maya pipper Matty Bell pill Brody valissa deay and Elena worldl is your women’s field we’re just still trying to get and alen key just going to roll them around rather than everyone just sort of sitting there doing nothing they’ll let them roll around for a lap again if they want to or they can just stay on the rail as well has been a big field it’s um it’s a strong field as well he Mia socks has been to Junior worlds Molly Hayes is competing overseas um she’s at College yeah she’s at Uni and States yep so I know she said this is her first track riding for a while so that uni scene in the states is all Road this is commentator nightmare we’ve got to fill in all this time don’t we I know we got a whole bunch of people down here giving me a bit of stick cuz I’m they’re not used to see me up here no we’re lucky to have you here you’re normally you’re you’re normally down in the middle giving lots of advice know inspiring these young Riders not giving them feedback answering their questions instead I’m up here in jeans and a t-shirt and uh it’s good I’m not all sweaty it’s good hey and it gives them a chance to think differently too where they can go and look and go right what can they they do themselves it’s the whole thing where know particularly it’s good for them every now then to come through and run their own meeting um and basically you need to be fully independent which as you say that’s what we want to build them into being ultimately well essentially for the under 19 Riders um the female and and a lot of the the male Riders we’ve got a couple of Crews that are getting ready and preparing themselves for junior welds which they leave on the 25th of August so this is really their last big hit out in a competition sense before they go so it’s actually good for them to be able to reflect themselves and not actually be coached y through it let them make some mistakes ask them later on would you do well what can you improve on um and uh get them to reflect on on what they do so and they’ll have hours of video to be able to go and look back at the racing with um 10 camera angles correct right here we go we have a start list now now I’ve just got to work out who everyone is right say the form up down on the blue that’s Jesse Thompson and the laser kit in front uh Nina waral is in position three with sort of the colored helmet um that is Elias McKenzie is in position two with the orange up there people aren’t quite order I think that pill bro’s in about position four just trying to pick up who that canbury Rider is I think that might be Jesse son so they’re Away Hannah pay third up top so over the weekend we will work out what kit they wearing hopefully they don’t changeing us what bikes they’ve got ex it’ll make it a bit easier to commentate as we get through the weekend I just noted some of the mail Riders when they were War up uh some of the guys that I coach I almost didn’t recognize them cuz they’re wearing different kit to what I’d normally see them and oh it’s a bit of a nightmare when they do that to us hey well at Nationals we had about eight r eight women from Canterbury all riding in Canterbury cats so I’ve got to acknowledge we’ll have to talk about Jesse Thompson a lot cuz she’s made it easier being the only one in Canterbury kit today so as we said they’ll get two laps to basically raceing underway to sort themselves out and then we’ll see the first of the Sprints and we’ll see a Sprint uh what have we got every two laps as they run through to they’ve almost started like the start of a of an Elum they’re all getting themselves into position and they’re actually they’re riding a lot faster than I thought they would for the start of this here we go looks like Hannah pay Hannah PNE wants the first one so coming through so ignor my program says 20 laps that’s what the boys are doing the board for the woman says 10 laps so let’s go that will be realistic so Hannah Payne she’s on the front but you can very much see somebody coming around to pick her Jesse Thompson from canbury she’s going to come around and try and roll no I think Hanah will get that first one oh get on that wheel Jesse’s going to keep going so when you say getting on the wheel what would you do if you out there Mike so almost with some of this but so you can see there the energy expended by Hannah was huge to win that first Sprint and as the rider rolled over the top of her she didn’t close the wheel quite fast enough and now she’s drifted twoth thirds of the way back through the field so she actually needs to find a wheel to get on to cling on to to pull her back through the field nicely look how this is splitting up like they’re they’re going hard warl yeah Lena warl on the front now so she’s going to Road Junior worlds um here competing in track she regularly rides track uh it looks like Hannah Payne got that first Sprint okay so looks like they are doing 32 1 and multiplying that up somehow I will work all that out as they go through we’ll update you you can see the points down in there s Hannah pay’s currently on two ailia syes one everyone else on one point see what if the two laser girls work well here they’ll actually pick up three or four laps here that’s Sophie Maxwell and not sure who the other Rider is there with it so oh teammate going to roll teammate oh was good battle that was number 70 I think it’s ailia syes so she was at Junior worlds a couple of years ago she’s a really strong Rider here comes another one of the laser kitted girls jumping over the front now lighting it up this awesome racing it’s real aggressive yeah no it is really good you’re right they’re not sitting and waiting that’s number 74 I think who took that one that was my wolfenden so with the snowball points race you’re getting more and more points as we move closer and closer to the Finish where whoever takes out the last Sprint will get 10 points for first place so 73 we haven’t talked about Lucy Reef she was basically in the bunch she’s let her run come late she’s come out she’s picked up that one to get quite a few points and she’s looking like she might get two doses at it this will give her nine points a nice work should be hard to pee back from here she’s going to take the last three Sprints so she’s really going to take this out she just we didn’t talk about it she was in the bunch she was just being calm and then she’s jumped away taken the last three Sprints kept her pow to dry and then when she made a move she was de sise of players um good good racing uh but that was that was awesome racing that was aggressive racing by the girls was awesome they’re all trying to tear each other’s Le which is great yeah and that’s where it’s so good you’re right we’ve got you know some younger Riders here coming through that are still doing the schools competition and then we’ve got the likes of a milia sites who’s know that couple of years old are able to bring through her speed and form now what you’re seeing on the scoreboard I’m not sure if it is completely correct in the sense it they didn’t seem to be doing that snowballing or increasing points so it might not be completely correct at the moment and I get they might just have to change what they’re doing down there so my understanding the way we’ve seen it um it’s possibly different from the points that are up on the screen so ignore that where they almost seem to have giving them just single points rather than being a snowball points where the last Sprint was with a lot more than the first Sprint you see how hard it is like you Riders like Riley aoid who who very very good bike rider I don’t know if she actually picked up a point it shows you how how aggressive the racing was I don’t think Molly Hay’s got a point either no um very very good bike riders very good yep after all the sort of things that caused a delay to the start once it was racing it was certainly racing right from the get-go hey so we’ve got two rounds of men qualifying now so essentially they are competing same event um my program says 20 laps reach but we’ll just make sure that is what goes off on the board after it didn’t happen last time so they are basically competing in here to come through to be in the AL for rest of the Enduro stuff over the weekend so in the first heat field is going to be Matthew Davidson Daniel Morton Toby Jones Ruben Shepard Jamie Chantel Roberts Finn Edwards Joshua grieve David ju Daniel grieve Hunter Adams and down on the blue we’re going to see Riley krton Jamie Henderson Harrison couter Jesse Johnson Cole faran Ken stromen hopeful I’m pronouncing that correct and Ms Arden is your field so Matthew Davidson and white that’s leading us away he’s off to Junior worlds y Dan yep so he went last year so this will be his second year going uh Dan it’ll be his first time going won’t it yep but he’s second year under 19 as well correct so good team of young key with guys going and we’ve got something pretty exciting I haven’t seen at the NTS before so we’ve got a couple of guys from Australia which is awesome so we’ve got Toby Jones from Queensland um coming through just a click in now and then we’ve also got Ruben Shephard in the blue New South Wales kit so awesome we’ve seen kiwi Riders going over to Australia a little bit on the last year to compete and great to see some of the Australians coming over here as well looks like Jamie canel Roberts is trying to be tactical he’s like the start of an elim he’s gone straight up grab position one um so it’ll be interesting to see he he obviously wants positioning straight off the gate which is awesome Yep um one thing they’ve done with the junior worlds guys is they’ve G them down so uh at NTS the guys were out ride 94 96 something like that yep um so they’ve did them down to I think it’s 918 ah so so we’re actually making the racing harder for them yep so we we we don’t want them tearing off and ripping the legs off everyone so if we can make it harder for them it’ll be better for the leg speed and and they obviously have to make better tactical decisions as well y okay and that’s really good to know because as you say know therefore so any kiwis if you’re watching and the New Zealand Junior worlds team aren’t just destroying the rest of the field that’s a good thing because we know as Mike just explain to us they’ve got that hearing adjustment so they can make it as hard as they possibly can so they’re not 20 laps either versus program there is 12 laps on the board it’ll make it harder for them uh when it comes time to Sprint they obviously need to then produce power off leads be guys that are riding a big gear we have something to push yep as they’re coming through so uh it’ll be interesting to see how how they how they adapt uh and then you’ve obviously got you’ve got an under 17 Rider out there and David Quon who’s got as good legs speed as you’ll ever see he’ll be hard to beat in some of these Sprints great Rider to watch out for going forward Mar can put your agree he’s had some phenomenal results on the track lately in the last year or two right races underway and again only a 12 lap race so they’re not Ming around it’s starting pretty quickly Dave Jamie Shantel Roberts in the blue Oakland kit he’s instantly decided he will get going coming around the outside in the Flor kit that’s Hunter Adams so he’s basically it’s his first track experience he is from mountain bike background Oceania champ on the mountain bike and off to Junior worlds for the M bike now Jamie Henderson riding second whe at the moment he um he’s actually got a very very good Sprint on them to see if these guys can work together if the split works and So Jamie Henderson he’d be sort of under 17ish as well as he might correct yeah and that’s where you say this limiting gear thing just makes this a great leveler doesn’t it where League speed matters so Hunter sort of moved up on him there but wasn’t able to get over so Jam’s going to stay there for another lap we’ve got Matthew Davidson and white he’s from Christ Church he’s coming out over the top one of the junior Riders David Quan that we were talking around has taking his whe so Matthew will take this one but David’s going to get a good lead into some of these higher points later on if these three can work together they could almost take out all of the points but and they have they’ve got a bit of a gap haven’t they so they are starting to clear out so David WS looking like he will take this one the others are happy not to contest lap off high get back in there and share the points and then basically have a punch up for the last three or four Sprints you know it’s a game of chess isn’t it it is a game of chess um the Dan Morton trying to confuse me um putting a kid on I haven’t seen that before I know I have a word him about that later so Dan is from County’s manal that’s the kid I’m normally seeing wearing did he forget to bring his skin suits down this weekend what’s going on who knows okay Toby from Australia he’s coming through now so he’s in the Australian Junior worlds team I don’t know who took that one Toby or Matthew from our angle I’ll say maybe oh close it corny so that’s where they’ve let this Gap open up so now Toby’s able to just run away he’s going to pick up the points in this one as well so if he didn’t get them in the last one he’s certainly getting them in this one he looks behind he’s got a nice clear Gap they’re lapping some of the Riders so remember again this is going to go to an A and A B split so Toby’s still got several bike links over the remaining New Zealand Riders he actually did very well cuz he rode across to that break as well so I suppose it might be a problem that he might need to change his gearing to get get more of a challenge if he ends up too dominant either either that or they might adjust the other guys just up a little bit y so he’s come around he’s picked up some more points so he’s part of that group but he is still in front we’re seeing the other three so we’re seeing Matthew Davidson Dan Morton coming back onto his whe now Matthew’s now going to Surge over him but again in terms of the big thing was qualifying for this one going through the result here is more around getting into that a stream for the rest of the weekend so some of them will go actually the result here doesn’t matter I’m comfortable I’ve got some points that’ll get me through so on the line oh don’t know whether it was Dan Morton or Matthew Davidson or that one that was pretty close as well the good news is cuz we’re sitting on the angle we don’t have to get in trouble with the commiss for for making a call that’s wrong they have the the better line angle from us so that was pretty fast that field sort of BL a bits as well didn’t it Mike yeah it did it did it’s good racing so we’re still seeing points go up in the same way but it’s very different from what the infield commentators calling and what we’re calling in terms of snowball’s points race um but presuming the the Riders on their with points will certainly go through to the A and then what it comes down to is it becomes the finishing order for the riders that didn’t P pick up any points along the way oh my looks like they worked at like a [Music] temp just not normally what we’d expect with a snowbo but hey but acknowledge it is really awesome and when were 100% confident on the points it is just a real Advantage obviously have those points on the screen as well so you can see it’s picking up and progressing over the day so in this one we’re going to see Magnus jamson Bernard porson Lucas bimy so those three are all off to the junior worlds Luca zetti Robert tumble Hunter Dalton Sterling Janelle Alex bther Isaac Morris sha thall and on the blue Oliver Clark Angus Sims Remy Dalton Oliver ke Jonah Waters Andrew Jensen Jacob Herbert and Carter Payne this good field again this this go field in both races very very strong which will lead to an exceptional weekend of racing and we’ve got some young guys coming through in this one is carer under 15 under 16 he’s something along that sort of age group too isn’t he yeah um normally obviously big and powerful big and he is big and powerful hey so normally we’ve seen a lot of riders who previously gone to the Junior worlds that you know we might we could call them under 23 or whatever um normally I’d see a whole bundle of them there none of them are here this year Mike where are they all this year so they they’ve they’ve all I guess in the last three months headed across to Europe and they’re all doing Road in Europe so one good thing about endurance Riders you know you get to cross cross path with both road racing and and track and and both of them help each other so they’re all over there I guess getting valuable experience riding in the the Netherlands and Belgium and we in New Zealand we don’t get to ride and Fields of 150 to 200 Riders so it’s very very valuable for them to be able to go across experience that get used to it um learning how to position in a big big field um and then when they bring those skills back here and they do tour of Southland yeah as you say it is and obviously know there was delay and lots of the stuff with Co now you know I get CO’s unfortunately starting to impact on the tour with some Riders having to pull out um not being able to continue which is a bit sad but as you say the world is a lot more open than it was so you’re right you’re able to go and and get those big experience opportunities and obviously Europe is the heart of world road racing absolutely so running through I’ll just try and pick up some of the rers we’ve got up here so um in the blue that’s Lucas Bim um just behind him and that sort of dark blue kit is Hunter Dalton um I think that’s Robert tall behind him and no CIT you’ll see the quickstep kit you’ll see at tur front um that’ll be Magnus Jamerson and the South kep behind him help me fish do you know who the rider is in the St Peters kit there that’s sterling sterling uh Alex both is in the pink um we’ve got Bernard porson in the black here’s marer from New South Wales I think that is that Isaac Morris I’ll get his number as he comes past it’s good it’s good it’s good to see uh guys from Australia coming across oh Luca zukan no wonder it’s a new name that I didn’t know Bernie Bernie’s recovering from a crash he crashed sort of three weeks ago and had some little fractures on his kneecap and he’s so he he’s been training with no intensity at all so this will be interesting because it’s his first lot of intensity that he’s had in a few weeks and they’re ripping it to start they are Remy Dalton so he’s basically jumped in straight away you got Lucas B who’s sitting behind him he’s decided no I’m not going to sit in the draft I’ll get up and move over and see if I can get some early points and remember of course if you get some early points you might win this event but all you need to do is do enough to get through it into the a race well looking at the way that they are scoring it right yep um all you need is one point isation so so if the snowball isn’t really a snowball or the got a different plan on how they give 3 to1 Lucas is always so good at this at just surging over isn’t he and just getting that extra point it’s something that he does really well he a bit crueler he should have actually given Remy that and uh yeah Remy did look over his shoulder and go really are you kidding me now now his brothers coming to have a crack at him Hunter Dalton comes over the top so we say brother a good good mat out of Oakland Sterling needs to keep that on he missed that yep so that’s where you’re keeping an eye on saying got that momentum just push and use a little bit more now Robert tumble I think it is in the Quick Step kit um really small light frame but he’s showing he’s got speed to use as well yeah he’s got a massive engine Robert tble Scot uh be really interesting to see how he develops and now we see Magnus coming around followed by the New South Wales rer Luca so is Luca going to be happy here with second look take the next one or is he going to try and roll Magnus looks like he’s happy to take it these two should work together now so Luca looks like he’s on quite a small gear as well so he looks like know what you talked around with the under team Riders he’s gone for the same sort of strategy so they’re having to spin out Lots yes Maggie definitely is as well he’s he’s riding a little bit smaller gear Bernard porson coming across to them look how smooth Bernie is Bernie go straight over the top of Maggie by the looks oh good to see that knee thing is not holding it back too much and he’s in the mix oh Magnus coming gave a bit of a surge and said no no I want the points on this one uh and it’s Oliver ke who’s just behind burnard so burnard in the black Oliver ol ke in the white behind and then Alex both are in the pink there Oliver ke big strong Rider isn’t he yeah it’ll look it’ll Bey how he goes and then we’ve got Alex ber and pink who does all the mountain biking and then Carter pay we talked to now being powerful young man so Carter looks like he’s timing this actually really really well you’re right so when you say timing it there’s only a couple of Sprints to go after this one isn’t there so he’s all positioned to be to pick up points later in the piece yeah here he goes now he’s got to look now this would be phenomenal for a guy of his age um to take points oh it’s a great learning opportunity for him where he’s now gone really well North Island schools on the weekend now to be able to step up and race with say older faster peers and be able to get amongst it and mix it with them so he wants to get on the back of that group so he slots onto the back of pink and Alex Botha we’ve got a choss rider coming around the outside looking the points this time coming off so he’s coming through with one to go he’s timed that really well so that was Oliver Clark so he’s taking that one and he’s got a gap so he’s looking like he’ll be able to go through and take this one Bernard’s picking up the speed to come around Magnus to take position two Oliver Clark he’s going to take the last two sprints so that’ll put him nicely in the point standing overall and those whole sort of front group you’re looking at there they will go through to that a final looking at a lot of these endurance Riders and it’s interesting watching from up here but you watch when a lot of them are trying to pass they’re all trying to pop out just before Corner three and that they’re doing so much work to try and get around guys especially when it comes to riding small gears they should just be leaving it get to the Apex pop out late come around late just use that timing instead of expending more energy than they need to there’s a lot of this is one area where endurance Riders can learn a lot from sprinting learn how to cure race learn how to match Sprint because the end of every endurance race is a Sprint generally right y so invaluable skills um that some of the endurance Riders don’t quite get you know just try and pop out too early do too much and that’s where as you say it’s a great learning opportunity and some of them hopefully you know maybe watch some of these races and pick that up and it’s that whole thing as you say where going around the corner outside somebody you’re having to do more ground than they are so you’ve got to basically pick up a whole lot of extra speed hey awesome thank you very much Mike for joining us and welcome back anytime over the day we really appreciate your skilled insights into that endurance s of things and obviously we will see all the racing get a lot closer as we see them now grouped as a and b for later on today it’ll be elimination is the next race up for the insurance Riders it’s a good race thanks s hey thanks man look forward to see you later on e e e e [Music] w [Music] [Music] are you looking to hire a bike buy a bike fix a bike buy something to go on your bike look good on your bike grab a shuttle with your bike we’ve got you covered at Riverside Adventures Bike Shop yeah in Cambridge at the vome by the way I’m this might be his personal set who your rers hael need to about right two up Sprint so we’re back to Sprints we’ve got Hazel basically sitting in position two Lexie just in front of here so uh Hazel’s a uh comes from a BMX background and she has an electric standing 250 on her uh she was the fastest uh 250 rider in the uh Team Sprint number one Rider um so yeah just that BMX starts isn’t it they just get so used to having to power out of that gate okay so coming around it looks like we’ve got the first of the Sprints being just a two up where it looks like hazel is trying to take a little bit of control and what I what I mean by this is she’s trying to hold her against the barriers so Lexi doesn’t have an easy sprint line and she’s doing a really good job of boxing her not allowing her an easy way out now she opens the Sprint up so she’s taking control she’s going to clear away she’s got a good Gap Jas was out a good use of here by sort of holding the I suppose holding Lexie up being able to know control the Sprint control when it starts uh yeah she controlled her really well she wasn’t too aggressive as and pushing her right into the fence and really crowdy and she just kept on the hip uh where she could monitor very easily uh if um she looked to push forward she could then just start to accelerate but you could clearly see when she did decide to accelerate as they’re coming into the Bell that uh one lap power that she has and acceleration she easily opened up quite a sizable Gap in a short period of time and as you talk there’s obviously two things for there’s there’s that top speed but it is having this power piece as well isn’t it yes yes um sprinting very much uh an acceleration sport uh as opposed to just being pure top end um if you can get up to speed much faster than your opposition and say you’re one or 2K hour slower but you get there a lot faster you’ll probably ultimately win the Sprint because you can get that Gap and on your draft you can use that element as a prize with the power just to open that Gap up okay we’ve got the next round of young woman coming y so we’re going to see Elise Paws and sah Heartstone this time and it’s really neat to see this young woman’s team that’s been put together so giving them a chance to fill out teammates wear kit all that sort of fun thing to to give them that katery and what’s essentially most of the time a really individual sport yeah and it’s a great looking bit of Kit too actually and uh it’s good to see that it’s not just an endurance team so they’ve got endurance Riders and Sprint Riders yeah and light speed’s a good name that’s what everyone wants to do it’s a good play on words so so s leads us away and Elise Paul’s in position two on the green bike just in behind here in that team kit we’re talking about going a little bit slow on that banking there yep she made it interesting for herself but she stayed upright that is the most important thing and now she’s using using that height that she had going through that banking to open herself out a nice substantial Gap so she needs to make the decision now whether she commits to this and goes for a long Sprint and so Sarah in behind she’s going to have to close that gap down remember these guys are on limited gears so you get to a point where you are stuck with a max speed and you won’t be able to go any faster you see the Gap starting to close now as she’s starting to pick up that draft that we’ve talked about earlier so Sarah Hearthstone did set the faster qualifying time B at a few seconds she’s now able to use it to come around um but at least if I’m pronouncing that correctly sorry did have to do know did something different made her think and went okay what can I do she’s done a faster Sprint time to me what can I do to close that down um but sar’s going to be able to come around and take out that match but she’s been made to work for it so good thinking by doing something different whether it was her idea coach’s idea but no good effort by um else at least to be able to try something there yeah I imagine it would have been a collaboration between her and her coach they would have discussed uh her strengths work out the uh deficit between the two Riders and formulated the plan that uh they thought gave them the best chance of uh of uh getting the win and uh she went out and executed it very well I uh imagine that there was uh a lap or two of concern from our winning rider in the end as she tried to to close the gap and and speaking of not always executing well so drone Masters here last year I was doing match Sprints I had this epically close Sprint with another guy and it was like Photo Finish Tire width in it so we’ve got to go for a rematch we might have taken one each I think maybe even and so all these guys around me like Simon Simon you’re a road Rider go long go long and you’ll surprise them anyway so I followed you know my mate’s advice and went out went long P buddy ran me down Jason and got me on the line I did not execute the plan hey this time up we’ve got Piper Newton mini Collins and Amelia wood so Amelia wood in the white C colors looks like she’s drawn position one so she’s in the black T TC shoulders that you can see maybe I’ve got that wrong no that might be mini colon sorry we’re we’re just a bit forward and I can’t oh it is m words I am right the first place sorry it’s just a crinkle in a number from here and it looked like it had a different P it from a zero so it looks like Minnie Collins is uh at number two she is we’ll pick her out she’s got the red logo on her helmet for the three black helmets out there now she’s been given an extra shove so possibly thinking by her coach that we’ll try and see if we can push you out into position one so obviously no Jason you’re regularly doing that how often does that happen where the coaches have had a a pre plan to give that big shot uh it will happen more in these three up races in it would in a traditional match Sprint with only two Riders uh because you generally don’t want to be the third wheel so they’ll be counting on probably the rider and wheel 3 getting a shove two so wheel 2’s given a good push uh to promote themselves up so that they don’t end up being T and Charlie so at the moment Piper was the one that was down on the inside we’re now seeing ailia wood from tiu now use the banking to jump and accelerate uh mini Collins is the man rider in the rear at the moment just so you can tell the two girls apart so it’s apparently Amelia Piper mini as they come through to get the Bell Amelia lifts the Sprint she’s out of the seat kicking it hard where would you be jce which wheel would you like to have uh I would have preferred to be wheel 2 at the moment uh cuz it’s going to be hard work coming around but she uh is going a much shorter distance than wheel 3 although that was I suppose something we haven’t seen that was NE there was maybe less than a wheel length in that wasn’t there yeah and as as you referred to uh in the first round as we progress forward uh the seatings will even themselves out and we’ll be in for some very close racing and that was a good example uh I would say it went to our Rider and wheel two on the red sella so that will be Piper but we’ll wait to see it come up so we’ll look for the Green Dot to come up on the results shortly to be confirmed you can see the commers down in or you can’t see them we can see the commers are all peering around the camera looking at it closely trying to work out where everyone is obviously can get really tricky sometimes if you’ve got one of the Riders on the inside who is in front but blocking the camera um being able to see where where the others are looks like they’ve reached a decision so we should see a light come up shortly meanwhile while we’re waiting the next Riders are coming up so Riley felner is coming up she’s in pink the year education C so pip and new did take it good eyes Jason so Piper Newton she took that out from Amelia woods and then Minnie Collins took third in that last oneth hey so this time up we’ve got Caitlyn Kelly gForce cycling um she is closest the rail in the blue and then we’ve got Riley felner in the pink so both these girls going to Junior worlds um we saw Riley Chuck down the fastest qualifying time today of 11.38 for the woman a more traditional start this time maybe I’ll hand over to you Jason what what would you do if you were let’s say Riley fastest Rider you got position one uh so Riley uh in the within the the team Sprint she’s a starter so she has a phenomenal kick and she actually rode her qualifying uh in that kind of a fashion where she was very much crawling through the opening laps and left everything to the kick at the uh top of turn three and four so she’ll be looking to try and keep it slow and uh keep uh Caitlyn close uh and utilizing that big kick that she does have and that um the different and speed that she’s got today C’s sitting pretty dead on the wheel so she’s realized she’s got to get out of there so she’s building some height so she can use that to accelerate we saw when she came past us she really wanted to stay in position one you can see a back piddling here’s that acceleration that Jason talked about so we’re seeing Riley Just Launch that power that she came from the Dead start so she’s away going oh she’s unclipped she’s going to have to try and power through with one you’re not going to get two leagues in how is she going to do with two leagues Caitlyn should obviously try and come around um what will happen on this basis it’s going to be I don’t know I might give that to Riley might still have taken that but I acknowledge the potentially a safety thing there where you know Caitlyn’s going to go I don’t want to get mixed up in anything in case it goes wrong so someone needs to sort the cleats and pedals out there don’t they Jason yes they do indeed um we need to uh tie those up uh a little bit tighter or maybe invest in some straps that a lot of sprinters do have to stop that very thing from happening um I would suggest that Caitlyn was being nice to Riley Riley had her and uh if not for that unclipping she was going to win and win quite convincingly um it didn’t look like Caitlyn really attacked and took advantage of that she uh just rolled through gently and uh let Caitlyn take uh let Riley take the win yep there’s no point they say they’ve got much bigger goals to go for there’s no point in actually anything going wrong today that would affect other Riders teammates at the but no you’re right the boys really wear those straps don’t they Shimano pedals are notorious for it happens they they do un click under this big PA so first of the girls needing velcro straps maybe though I think both girls we’re seeing in here Sophie and jod they both straping don’t they they do indeed um and it just gives it added protection so if underload you do kind of twist a little through the through the hips and down into your leg and into your foot and uncp uh the straps just don’t allow your foot to twist so somebody family if you’re watching jump online look up Val bike Val Dr will sell you a couple of straps from Cambridge here uh you might even be able to get delivery to the Val drum and she can have them to to use over the next coming days okay so Sophie’s coming up in the Grassroots kit that’s sort of got the gray and W colored sleeves JY Blackwood under 19 Sprint champ she is coming up in her New Zealand national champs white Kit so Sophie’s drawn for position one Jody was quicker um by more than half a second so got the speed to burn the girls are looking up at the scoreboard checking out the photo of the last one there was that looks like a dead heat my goodness that’s as close as that gets doesn’t it maybe oh maybe Caitlyn on the outside I don’t know I’m not calling that one i’ say it’s Riley oh yeah hard to tell very hard to tell I I with the eye I thought Riley chopped to the uh race so it’s almost like Mark Kev she dropped his chain after the um one of the Sprint stages in the tour last week wasn’t it but he was over the Finish Line before that chain came off right Sophie leads us away both these girls really know what they’re doing jod sort of just sitting up on that classic one bike length behind she’s not on her wheel she can run at it she can see where she’s going she’s not going to get pinned so if he just accelerates a little bit in the seat there J making sure she’s matching here obviously if you move up higher you’ll lose a bit of distance um but obviously it gives you that benefit height that you can lose a little bit later on so if you’re not being too intimidated just happy to hold a line and keep control we talk control Jason will help me out on this one where you want to be able to control that Sprint line between the black and red lines that’s the bit that you want to be able to control who goes where so if he swings up this time indeed the rider behind has to come and be clear of the rider in front front before they’re allowed to come down into that Sprint Lane Sophie really needs to start excelling this as we’re coming through to the Bell or she’ll get jumped so she heard you telepathically she’s doing that now Jody’s now running at that wheel That’s a classic running demonstration that’s perfect ran on the corner popped out around the corner able to pass on the shortest part of the line in the straight she’s going to come down and take that win so really smart ride by Jody there yeah it was nice uh Sophie did start to accelerate but she needed to commit more to that uh she tried to kick in the back straight but uh jod was already up to speed as you said she ran into that draft of the wheel and was carrying a lot more speed and was just able to roll over so that will round out our woman we’ll now move into the men open and we will see in the first heat we’re going to see Ben Murphy and Cooper come up e right so we into the boy Sprints men Sprint however they all they want to be um so we’re going to see some two ups for a while and then we’ll finish with a couple of three UPS later on so we’re going to see Ben Murphy and Cooper n Cooper’s coming up first in the black he looks like he’s drawn position one a be M be coming up in the T mudit so we’re really grateful for Damian Payne for helping so much to make this so much better up until now it’s been an iPad with a head it and we upgraded that to a tripod all of a sudden we have multiple cameras we’ve got a live feed for the scoreboard um really awesome the way he set things up so big thank you to him yeah uh Doo has done an outstanding job at setting this up and I say it makes it so much easier to interact trust me I used to have to share a single earpiece with with other people got very close breaths were important Jason um okay back to the racing now so Ben Murphy and T he’s taking it up he’s happy to have a bit of he is definitely a focus Sprinter so he’s why as a young man he spent a lot of time thinking about his sprinting and working on his sprinting you can see him coming around and getting some height uh so he was from manow 2 originally living up here in Cambridge these days he’s moving around a lot and we’re going to see it opened up early by the looks Cooper jumping away Ben’s actually doing a really good job from second wheel uh to get Cooper to Excel and lift the pace so he can sit uh in the draft and take advantage of that and Cooper’s TI himself out now Ben’s come around with a Lap to go he’s comfortable that he’s got a bit of extra speed he’s able to use it um he’s making sure he doesn’t do too much that he can exert himself a bit more in a Sprint later since this one’s gone his way so yep smart ride by Ben doing what he needs to do to get the wind to get through good effort by Cooper trying to surprise him by going early Ben’s got a really good jump on him though doesn’t he it’s one of the things he he does do well as I think yeah start reasonbly well isn’t it push out that he does he does have a decent Excel on oh all right come on boys draw your number get up here let’s get this racing underway so Zachary wet he’s been he’s relatively newly coming across to sprinting he really sort of I suppose popped out at National showing he’s got some leak speed he’s always been an Enduro Rider with a great finish but now he’s trying his handed a bit more sprinting I think did he go to Malaysia Jason was he one of the the group that was on that trip he did indeed he uh went to Malaysia raced uh quite well um whereas at Nationals here he had the bit of been m in the final and is the current national champ yep uh up in Malaysia the roles were reversed uh Ben got the B of the B of Zack up in in Malaysia and uh took away a couple of wins against them it’s always good when they’re close and you can sort of throw a blanket over them and one weekend somebody’s got it and another weekend somebody’s out and makes the racing interesting keeps the confront tators entertained not knowing what’s going to happen either so Zachary he in the white um palon North High School K and uh Riley Lon he is in the green uh man OFA 2 Kit who’s drawn position one so uh Leighton will have the experience here he’s uh been sprinting for a couple of years now so we’ll look to see from one whether he’s able to control Zack and keep him close behind but don’t give him anything to run out except for Zachary has decided he wants control and he’s going to take position one so that’s not what we were expecting and it’s was interesting I suppose at this point we say Riley seems happy to be in position two it’s not like he’s trying to take it straight back is he no uh most Riders like to to run from position two uh and just because they get to conserve that energy just for that first lap and a half really uh after that the pace the pace is on and they uh really have to work that extra bit harder to get over the top and as you say you have the advantage of just looking forward you’re not having to ride in a straight line and Look Backwards all at the same time so he’s doing the right things he’s moving around he’s got some height up on Zachary just know keeping him thinking here we go he’s dropped down in he’s kicked away can Zachary get back onto him so he’s got that little bit of el surprise there’s not too much of a gap there but he’s not really in that draft Zone either so we know Zachary was a little bit quicker can he get on terms on this back straight it’s going to come down to being a super close one if he can he’s running at around the corner he’s getting it it’s going to come down to this last Sprint on the line o yep I will give Zachary will take that one out from our angle yeah I would agree with you there Simon I was just about to say when uh Zack and Leighton were up the top of turn three and four before Leighton dived under that Zack needs to be very careful there because he had left the gate open for uh Leighton to do that very thing coming underneath them and generally in sprinting terms with that lap and a quarter to go very hard to come back from uh that yeah and really as you say smart violation in terms of going right I will you know use my sprinting experience got the element of surprise I think he pretty well used the steepest part of the corner too didn’t he to get the maximum acceleration to you know do everything he could to get that Gap so good ride by him he did it was a good good uh good execution of uh Tak an opportunity that presented itself to him uh and Zack did a a really good job he didn’t Panic uh he backed himself he closed closed the Gap nicely ran at it through the corner he got to leighton’s uh rear wheel in the latter half of the corner drifted out onto the straight and just use that extra momentum to propel himself down the home straet and and get the win at the line all right now we’re back to three UPS we’ve got three ups for the remaining four Sprints um first W miles PR black County’s manal kit he’s bringing us up Ryan Hanson and blue looks like he’s drawn position two and then we’re going to see Nar Bang from gfor sou he looks like he’s drawn position three so I think these guys will be pretty even I’ll see if I can spot the qualifying times Ryan with sort of 11.3 uh miles was 11.6 and 11.5 yes so there’s not much in you’re reasonably close the experience uh will go to Ryan here he’s um he’s been around the Sprint scene for quite some time now so he’ll have the experience out of the three Riders and we’ll look to see whether he’s come up with a uh plan with his coach and how well he executes that plan I haven’t seen Zach here today he possibly is is working and not able to be here but um I’m sure Z you’re right has shared some thoughts or ideas with him so that’s miles rolling away quite quickly and Sly Ryan just sort of happy just to cruise away to get things underway and narb just sitting right on Ryan’s wheel so they’re all sitting pretty close Ryan’s happy to get a little bit of height straight away miles just trying to keep an eye on the shoulder over them looks like Ryan would like to roll over them if he could at the cly St miles is doing enough to be able to hold him on his shoulder or his hit basically so they come round three wide narb looks like he’s wanting to come down and take position one now so he’s moved from the back to the front here miles can testing things Ryan’s just sort of keeping an eye on them from behind it’s opened up Ryan’s just going to bowl straight through underneath them he’s going to come back through and take control and we’re going to be potentially yeah it’s all getting a bit dicey on that corner anyway they’re all upright there that’s the main thing miles around a room Ryan wasn’t expecting him to come underneath them so now they’re trying to accelerate hey look we’ll leave any decisions like that sort of stuff for the commers com around into the Sprint Ryan’s trying to accelerate now re around the outside miles is basically trying to push up from underneath to see if he can come around but Ryan’s going to take that one out cleanly miles and two and now ribb and three so in that instance there Ryan had control of the sprinters Lane here was in between the red and black lines uh and as such miles can’t advance himself underneath uh Ryan to take the lead and he did the right thing once he got himself there he actually backed out and gave it back to Ryan so it took the decision away from the commers he basically made up for his mistake made up for his mistake yes it’s always easier when you don’t have to get the commissaires involved and obviously the big thing when he did get caught on the inside he also showed you know why it was a bit of a sketchy moment for him he remained calm he did the right things he kept himself right which is a big thing as well so good honor for getting out of the the danger zone down in there okay up in the next Heat coming up we’re going to get ID Sims who’s come up first in his US kit we got Jared man Hamilton club coming up in his blue Hamilton kit and Flynn Underwoods will be in the T motor kit we saw him in earlier on so three Heats to go So Young Eden Flynn will be looking to uh get one over Jared man who would be the more established Sprinter yep can the young dogs get one up on the old dog and obviously Jared isn’t that old but proportionately he’s got a couple more years of wisdom or experience on him yep it’s definitely your relative Simon we look at them and we just think young young and younger that’s cuz we’re old old and older right J that is correct that’s why we can you can share your wisdom with them Jason you’ve seen lots of these races lots of these things over the years okay so ID looks like he’s going to lead away uh Jared’s in two and Flynn is in three so this should be another pretty even matchup we’ve got three riders that will be pretty even in terms of speed Jared was an 11.2 um it was 11 flat Flynn was 10.88 so they’re essentially no all within about2 of a second of each other it’s opened up the first half lap fairly quickly by Sprinter standards yeah normally we talk around walking speed that was um I’m not sure if I could run that fast the way he went that first half lap now Flynn’s dropped through from position three straight underneath he looks like he’s decided he wanted to take control Ed’s going on I’m happy to be in front so Jared’s now watching them seeing what he can do draft wise a couple some nice height and Pace here it does have some real height Jared’s got to be aware of that he has used it he’s is he committing yep it looks like he’s going to go so Jared looks like he’s maybe happy to think he can run from position three on here and come on Flynn Flynn’s trying to basically keep eyes for and back meanwhile Ed just been able to open his thing and Flynn run at that wheel Jared’s got work to do he’s several bikelinks back from position three Flynn’s going to come up on the hit but it’s going to be hard to get over on this last straight Flynn’s coming down it’s going to be even Flynn will take that one Eden second Jared will take out third very nice ride by Flyn Ando there uh again he didn’t padic when uh Ed opened it up he did enough that he moved forward and uh set himself a nice gap which he used down the back straight to run at Ed’s whe used that draft going into the corner came out in the latter half of the corner and then he also gets a little bit of extra kick off the banking being up above that red line and that was enough to allow him to roll over top of Ed um now you know it’s like the formula one where you’ve got the push the pass button whatever you get in a second and you can hit the draft and pass did Jared effectively miss out on a bit of that bonus because he was just a couple bike Lings too far back to be able to get the benefit of the two riders in front of them correct um so yeah he he left too big a gap he’s he’s he’s over or underestimated the the Gap and he’s not got any benefit as he’s trying to come to the wheel uh and Flynn who uh judged his uh spacing really nicely he started to pick up that draft and so he started accelerating Pon to ID and because Jared was uh just outside of his draft he didn’t get any benefit of of that at all all right let’s move through to the next Heat we’re getting faster and we’ve got the faster so Tom Choy fastest time this morning sub 10 seconds super fast by him so he’s going to come up um to draw position one he’s just getting a strap sorted at the moment Luke Blackwood uh in the County’s manal black kit he’s come up to draw position two he was second quickest and third fastest but don’t undoubt him Kyle lart in the Reds Tasman top there now K rides a Karan really really smartly so depending on how much this looks like a K versus a three- up match Sprint um the kyo’s always got sort of smart riding approaching to Kieran but Tom has just a big speed advantage over these guys doesn’t he he does indeed and and Luke and Co have to work very hard and be very smart if they’re going to beat Tom and this but they’re all at the line right now so they’ve all got a chance of taking a win yep and you’ve got to go through whatever happened let’s just throw that out and let’s go might qualifying this morning doesn’t matter if you miss that opportunity you will get the tactics wrong yeah it’s one of the lines that I preach to my writers religiously Simon is that qualifying is just that qualifying no one’s ever won a Sprint title off their qualifying time uh it all comes down to the match sprinting at the end so take your qualifying time for what it’s worth uh file it away and then concentrate on your uh on your racing your Mur so these guys are all super confident moving the bike there’s going to be multiple tactics and as you’re saying on that bit it’s like the golf thing isn’t it now drive for show P for do yep you’ve got a qualify but now you’ve got to use it so they’re all pretty handy at moving their bike around they will all move around a lot they’re basically three wide coming through Luke’s got the height on the barrier but Tom Cho’s making sure he keeps the a he knows that was his fastest rival KY didn’t get a chance to sneak away with him ignoring them Tom’s trying to keep a little of control on Luke meanwhile Kyle’s gone okay if you leave me unnoticed I’m going to go on S K’s Bally launched an open he’s got a gap Tom Cho’s going to run it his well can Luke be able to use that to come through he’s been able to get in that draft that Jared couldn’t get in the last one so Tom’s going to be able to come around Luke’s going to come around to take two no actually maybe I’ll leave that for the judges to call that one but clear win by Kyo very close for second or third between Luke and Kyo yeah so Tom used his uh Superior speed advantage that he’s got at the moment uh he ran nicely at kyo’s wheel came over him Luke followed through but I think think K did enough down on the inside uh just to hold Luke off the pick up second in that one oh no maybe just was a a meter or so too late so Luke’s been given second but you’re right it was only sort of just changing in that sort of run out the lines he must have just missed it so this is disadvantage us us commentators are sitting on a damn angle to the line versus where I used to set up so we we we have to just make a call and then um get corrected so that’s the way it rolls hey last one coming up now so looks like he’s drawn position one Liam in the red and white position two Jackson Russell in the New Zealand kit position three Alex Scher um first year under 19 he threw down a good time to show that he is up in the mix with these big boys so he was a a 10.4 lost it Jackson 10.49 and Liam 10.26 so almost like the last one where Tom Choy fastest qualify happen to lead us the way that’s way it looks here but as we saw on the last one anything can happen so this is the last of the match Sprints and then we will be into eliminations for the endurance Riders we’ll have the woman up first so Jackson’s a rer arm always entertained within a Sprint and so therefore in a three up Sprint now I’m expecting more from him he can really move a bike around a position things um Liam’s got a lot more confident in that in the past and know Alex we’ve covered he’s a little bit younger than these guys but he’s not going to be intimidated he’s been sprinting for a while he’ll have some some good confidence here it looks like Alex doesn’t want position three he’s going to roll around with a bit of height Jackson looks like he’s happy enough to let these two play things out and watch at this stage he’s coming through and getting a bit of height Liam looks like he’s definitely aware you can’t leave Jackson unseen otherwise he will do something something so he’s spending more time looking backwards than he’s looking forwards in the middle here Alex just trying to watch the more sorry Liam and Jackson need to be careful here is that they Don’t Ride themselves out of the race as they Mark each other and allow Alex to uh get the jump on them moving forward and they’ve all jumped a little bit early and you’re right in that just as we were thinking that’s happening then I think Jackson moved first and L went need to do something so they’re not fully opened it up yet but they close they’re still spending more time watching no committed to the race line coming through to get 200 to go now Liams on the front opening up but now they’re all getting out of the seat Jackson’s running at Liams wheel Jackson’s going to pull up onto his hip I would say Liam’s got them at the moment but it’s going to get close as it comes down we will I’ll say Liam Jackson Alex I think for that one but we will let that be confirmed since we got that last run wrong um good pretty even Sprint there the Elder boys maybe showed a little bit more experience over Alex but good effort by Alex they did uh nice ride by Liam he uh accelerated at The crucial times he got Jackson onto the hip into that corner corner and just held him there quite nicely Jackson would have been carrying a little bit more speed into turn three but uh Liam had control of the race at that point and then the power of the corner takes takes hold and Liam having the shorter line coming through on the on the black line played that nicely and it worked out to his Advantage as you say another round has decided no we we knew they were going to get more even and we certainly saw it hey thanks Jason for joining us again we will let you have a break uh we will roll Mike Davis back in for the endurance races and yeah maybe would you come and join us again later would be awesome oh would be a pleasure thank you e e for Okay so we’ve got the woman’s Elum coming up what you’ll find with the Elimination race is the first half dozen laps will be really really hot Pace will be on try and get yourself in front of your opposition the last thing you want to be doing is trying to Sprint from last wheel from the start of of the race so the best thing you can do is try and get up to the track first you want to be in those first four wheels when they talk about having a free lap there’s no free lap in an elim you’re damn near hard out Sprint right from the start so you need to get that position you want to be working that bubble at the front and if you can be riding the first half dozen wheels for the first first six or seven laps you’ll find that you’re not surging like the guys are at the back and it’ll set you up very very well come the back end of the race so the the best guys you’ll usually find they’ll ride the front for the first half of the L uh sorry first half of the race and then as the race gets on they’ll often work their way to the back and they’ll start picking off guys from the back so Lucy gri in the camera she took out that earlier race for the qualifying or sorry the snowball points race so she looked like she’s got some form Lina warl she’s picked up the front straight away so it’s not a race where there’s really a a formation LA on this one is there Mike they just want to get into that position that you were just talking around as quickly as they came yeah certainly if I was uh Elena warl at the front I would have been riding much harder for a start so now see she’s just been swamped by half a dozen bike riders there she’s lucky she’s got herself she’s fourth whe downstairs if I was here I’d probably try and pop out and ride too high and be too back now so Molly haes I think it is on the front now so she was the one who pushed over the top so push around so she’s got a lot of experience of riding these eliminations here in Cambridge and Amelia syes from Canterbury is super smart of them as well so they’ve smartly gone out against some of these younger girls and said we’re going to use our experience we’re going to keep ourselves out of trouble in position one and two and I think this is Lucy coming through now on the out side see the difference between the front versus the Riders at the back with how they need to accelerate and a rider like Molly Hayes who’s yeah with all respect like she’s not as Punchy as some of these other girls but she’s got a huge engine so she’ll be happy just to circulate those first three wheels ride the front control the pace of the race especially if she can get Amelia PES to work with her instead of trying to roll over all the time see now they’ just they’re now controlling the pace of the race beautifully and meanwhile there’s a battle down the back so we didn’t we didn’t cover it Mike did you talk about what an elimination was if anyone doesn’t know so basically Bell’s going to ring every second LP every second lap The Last Riders back wheel will be eliminated so Hannah P I think it was who’s going to be eliminated that time oh sorry wrong name Christina Scott eliminated that time the big thing about the elim is if you’re in bad position and when you come over the line you actually need to make your decision to put that big effort in on that Freel you can’t be doing it with half lap to go yeah it’s just too late then isn’t it yeah it is and obviously the danger Point normally lots of races down on the inside seems like a great spot but it’s always where they get eliminated isn’t it down on the inside can really be that danger Point as the outside sweeps by yeah8 8 mil 86 m B eliminated that time once another couple of riders have exited if you’re riding four back on the pole line you’re in trouble so as as the guys fan you know five high to try and accelerate um you just get left exposed right and down the bottom of your four or five back meanwhile up front I noticed um Amelia has rolled over Molly as you said so it’s working out perfectly for Molly at the moment where she did work on the front able to see ailia take you know the wind now for a few laps you know but she’s still well and truly miles away from the back yeah so Eliza McKenzie number 83 eliminated that time still probably maybe just between dozen and 15 girls out there at the moment so milia SES continues to be happy to just tap away on the front keep the city Rhythm we’re seeing Lucy and the sort of orange stripes on that light blue top coming around on the outside meanwhile down the back pill pill Brady pill Brady just trying to she’s in trouble but um she was trying to give herself room and push the rider up she might just squeeze in here she might do she’s done well oh no Hannah Payne Hannah pay that time but she needs to get out of where she was where she was now she needs to make that call another sech from the bunch going right we need to get out of this trouble on the front so that was Nina warl trying to push up through milia SES just lifts that pace maintaining that control that she wants to have so pill Brody is looking for a way she’s on the look at the back she’s trying to come out she’s trying to find away out of trouble she’s looking to be in that faster outou of line so rer on the inside have they got anywhere to go I and ideally now she needs to roll all the way over the top so she’s not the making multiple accelerations Jesse Thompson 81 eliminated that time I don’t know where they’ve announced it on the speaker I’m not sure that she’s aware Amilia so is just dictating the pace beautifully she doing a great job Molly’s probably pretty happy where she is as well you know some of those other Riders are sitting out in the wind but Molly’s been able to just stay in that shelter yes so Molly’s riding that bubble very very well she probably just wants to get her wheel on the outside of Amelia just in case you know once another couple of riders get exited just so she’s got somewhere to push other Riders up the track so the girls are struggling to unfortunately hear the call so we’re seeing a number of riders staying in so they need to use a very loud voice so the so Focus looking on the wheels and then and being close and they’re so focused that they’re not actually hearing their name and number been called obviously you know when you’re following those Wheels closely you’re not able to look up on the screen and see your name so the commers will just get this sorted and they won’t be able to rce until they can get the rider who’s been eliminated out she’s heard that call now so she comes out and they will set up and they will come around to give her the Bell this time no still going to neutral at the stage why they see things oh sorry that is the race start with the gun going again flag dropping Brendan’s blood pressure will come back down again commers obviously at World’s level they end up with you know a flashing vibrating thing on their handlebar like you get at some restaurants that they can tell but um no here it’s just a matter of them hearing their name and number called over the loud speaker so they get the Bell we’re going to get get an elimination next time round 85 so that’s my pepper down on the inside she needs to find a way out of there she’s on the red bow down on the inside hasn’t really got anywhere she can progress so you see there fourth back on the pole line you’re in trouble right so MIA Pippa was the rider eliminated that time she sits up and that light speed team and on the front we’ve still got ailia SES outside her Lucy Molly Hayes sitting in there comfortably it’s always the ones we haven’t talked around haven’t had to do too much work and so it’s awareness sometimes for Riders to where they had a whole lot of people behind the Muer and as the bunch gets smaller suddenly not realizing that three back in the front suddenly can become a little bit dangerous bro P Brody pill Brody from Cambridge out that time it’s one of those things when you get to the start line like a good Elum Rider will actually count how many people are in the race so in your brain you know where you are at any given time it’s the the little things that that uh make the biggest difference in the even so much what are we down to we’re down to probably 10 to a dozen ladies in there now 11 good counting so battles on the back who’s going to have the wheel last I think that might be Lucy confirmed yeah so it is Lucy she had been well positioned earlier she won that earlier race but she got herself out of position just as Mike was talking about that sort of stuff and just got herself boxed on the back with nowhere to go only takes a uh just a moment of um lack concentration you’re in trouble right and obviously everyone around you they’re trying to run a game plan to move themselves up and it was never one of my strengths I don’t hold position in a bunch well so I I get the challenge so coming around this time we’ve got a rider in blue looking like they’re going to try and run around the outside to keep themselves in it is somebody on the inside again we’ll wait see the 84 Lily ke out that time so I’m not sure that she’s heard yet or realize CU they aren’t putting it up on the board so what you can see on the board is what we doing so Lily’s heard now as she comes past the com here so she’s sitting up so if you see there the rider third back on the pole line going to get squeezed quite hard coming up here if she survives this she she would have done very very well but see how the bunch they will kick there you go y 88 gets caught out that time so Molly now riding two down she probably needs to try and push high on the girl in the South kit just to give herself some room so Si wheels just on the inside of ailia she needs it on the outside will have to be C out so Violeta hears that call she backs off now Bunch comes around they’ve got the Bell this is going to be a Sprint La again here we go oh Molly push out Nina Molly’s trying to push up and through Riders are coming around there she’s just trying to find a bit of a gap obviously if you do get wide then you can push up forward a bit so she’s keep herself safe who’s it going to be this time 74 my wolfon and obviously remember when commers are looking at this they’re looking from the side that’s another reason where it’s always dangerous being the inside Rider when you’re down if it’s two that are close your number is closer to those commers eyes rightly or wrongly it just is the way it is have you noticed how warl she rode the first half of this race towards the front in a bubble and then the last half she’s actually ridden it from the back she’s done a very very good job she’s now come back to the front again as it’s starting to squeeze up so Molly Haz is in that dang down on the inside she’s probably there’s enough speed that’s happened she needs to push out now she could 72 Riley was eliminated that time Ry from Southland she sits up again one of those sort of close calls for the Comm here that could have gone either way Molly’s now coming up and having a look Amelia has pulled up from doing a big effort on the front Amelia must have done a dozen Laps on the front at least oh at least as you say it was but now she sort of looks around SE as many there so there’s about seven Riders left milia comes up and sort of kicks it over the top well see how she’s held that too high Molly realized she’s in last wheel yeah so nothing she can do there mol’s out this time so Familia just holds there but doesn’t roll over the top the other girl doesn’t want it it’s almost becoming a matchprint now eh yep you’re seeing them you did right now taking height on the track all those sort of mat Sprint tactics coming into play five Le once again this is one of those reasons why endurance Riders should do some Sprint training as well learning how to position at the end of an Elum that basically becomes a match spring so Alena War pushing around on the outside we’ve seen this Rider in blue live dangerously a lot of times can she survive this time as well she’s done so well no 78 oh we have a crash unfortunately I thought she was going to hold that up because she actually touched Wheels twice she’s sitting up as the main thing she’s oh we got another one down right we’ve got two Riders who have come down so the both getting up and walking away is the main thing I can confirm for you so they’ve called this a Sprint lap still yeah flag’s still down so they’re still they’re still riding the track’s safe they will obviously we’ll have a pause after this race so they can go and check track for any damage at those two points running oh it’s nice work I know what I would call but I get I’ve got a different angle from the commers we let them make that judgment there’s no flag out okay they’ve told them they’re all back in that the elimination potentially was one of the crashed r I’m sing so we just wait so we understand where things are it no one’s near the Bell so the bell’s not going to ring so it’s ir and [Music] green uh Nina world I think that is and ailia SES of the three remaining Riders other two ladies just come off the track looks like we’re going to ring the bell things underway again I think Erin is sort of calling that she is done so we I’m not sure whether we’re sprinting for the last two or quite how this is working anyway Amilia syes is leaning Nina so that is ailia s the lead but don’t know which Rider they’re eliminating this time so Elena worldl she still in this or where are we going judges I think it’s us done I think we’ll call that done yep y Elena World last R sorry I keep calling an Nina World Elena world so and that shows you right two very very different contrasting Rider Styles Amelia rode the front the whole race Elena rode the front for the first half then she went back and started picking Riders off one by one so there’s many ways to skin the C but if you’re making numerous accelerations all the time when it comes back to that last Sprint you’ve already used plenty of matches have too many left that’s right right so we’ll see the first of the men come up now so we’re going to see Cole fingan hunson Adams Harrison cter Ms Arden Karen Strom Isaac Morris Andrew Jensen Jacob Herbert Remy Dalton Angus Sims and Jonah waters are going to be in the b-grade start list for the remaining endurance events I’m just going to take a second and grab a bite and I assume we might have a I’m not sure who is here to check over track or do any track repairs today as to whether they’re going to do that um me and Jason are talking to you yeah you’re not down there Craig from the Val’s not down there so who who has got that short score all right we might put oh yeah we’ll put some music on for a second and we’ll be back with you shortly e all right welcome back so you can see how two counties boys first thing they did is get those front wheels as as quickly as possible so whoever’s looking whoever is looking after them has done a great job Remy Dalton down on the on the bottom miles is holding them I’m sure he told him the first thing he need to do is game first wheel so this is great advantage of this event where you get graded in terms of where your ability was showing on the weekend on that warm-up event um now I think some names that we’ve certainly seen commentate before Remy Dalton um there’s a guy in here that you’ve never ever heard me commentate on the track before Hunter Adams so he’s in the pink sort of strip you’re going to see coming past the camera so he is ocean a mountain bike champ at under 19 but this is his first ever track meet so plenty of Fitness different set of bike Sals he’s been in here riding around the laps doing some training but this is his first ever big race meet and it’ll be his first elimination as well and we’re under way guess one of the good things about Hunter is mountain bikers generally have very good Cadence right so he should adapt to the track reasonably quickly and he’s obviously got a lot of power oh yeah goes uphill stupidly fast and big engine big engine um and the other one I think we’ll be to see how it transitions across particularly maybe for this event is obviously mountain bikes yes there’s long climes but there’s also lots of short Punchy stuff they have to go and push on um has B skills but obviously bikee skills are around going over logs jumps Corners at high speed different from this and so he’ll he’ll transition those skills across so elimination Bell’s going to go and then the last Rider back wheel will be eliminated so number 42 Isaac Morris he might have been listening to Mike in the last one he’s settled in at the front Remy Dalton from Cy manal settled into position two says a real sort of Cy manal black shirt strip right up in the front on the inside in front there down the back we’ve got one Rider living a little bit dangerously he’s look to have a bit of a surge it’s going to make somebody else live dangerously we’ll leave a Comm call that one and Hunter Adams has gone straight into the bubble and positioned himself beautifully he’s getting enough protection there there’s too many black shirts out there for a commentator there’s a lot of black shirts there’s a lot of black shirts out there can we get some different strips for tomorrow please right Harrison cter it is on the front at the moment he’s the one happily dialing things up and you can see how being Remy surging up around the outside going right I just want to get out of the danger zone we’ve got it that boy who was really close in the last one but kept himself there he’s surging through he’s not going to be able to get over the top of them this time so number 66 is Marden M what they’ve got to realize now though like when you do that surge over the top you don’t need to keep it on because you’re you’re you’re actually burning matches sou right so so dictate the pace of the event but don’t burn your Bridges so Cole faran he’s the counties boy on the front at the moment Hunter Adams just sitting outside here we can spot CU he’s in a different strip from the rest in those bright fluro colors meanwhile down the back if this is Jonah Waters maybe might be we let Comm okay anger Sims out that time down de so getting that close to the common Seer danger zone right dialing it down on the front number 62 Cole faran meanwhile down the back we saw number 59 Jonah Watters get in a Sprint last time he’s making sure he doesn’t get in trouble this time he’s around Riders are out of the seat trying to make up places somebody suddenly didn’t realize they on the back and suddenly they are number 29 that’s Jacob out this time so Hunter’s able to sech away come around come over the top now he knows what he can do fitness-wise around here you’ll probably go right actually let’s just settle this into a rhythm that I want to do yeah cuz he wasn’t drafting really was he wasn’t exactly saving energy being draft so he might as well be on the front down on the Baseline he’s ping nicely so Jonah Waters out that time number 59 six left still too many black shirts for my liking that’s a big surge over the top it is which one of the County’s manic boys is that one 42 is Isaac Morris so Isaac Morris takes the front now everyone else is coming around to join in the party it’s going to get bunched down on that back inside it’s that danger zone as Mike talks it’s gets pretty late to try and get yourself out of trouble I think closest to the commer is the one in trouble again so Harrison cter out that time yeah five left having a little bit of elevation now it’s fine you know you can use the banking to gain speed you do not want to be three back or two back down on the bottom you’re in trouble from here right all you’ve got to do is beat the last guy you’re not worried about who’s in the front I’ve just got to beat the guy that’s at the back so people can when once you start getting a bit more experience you can pin people down work those Sprint skills great acceleration to get over the top yeah unlucky to be at that time Andrew Jensen out in the Copeland shirt he was roer just thinking we hadn’t talked about the whole time he had kept himself smartly out of trouble not done too much work but he’s got eliminat we got three left in black two from M’s man count one other and Hunter Adams in the fluro kit Isaac Morris has made three really big accelerations we’ll soon see um how much he’s got in the tank so who’s got white Hunters looking around we’ seen the count boys come and accelerate it’s going to go three full wide I think he’s safe you’ve got some people stuck on the inside here what can they come through and do there’s no way out nice work Remy Dalton so Remy got caught out that time made it with four to go now there’s three into the middle Zone but of course no medals handed out for individual races this weekend so this is Isaac still leading it away so when we look at this here so we’ve got three dead Wheels right the guys need to be able to give themselves some space run at a wheel yep it’s that classic sort of Sprint training as you’re saying almost that awareness of being able to use it like that cuz it’s BEC a pretty Who’s got what Sprint that’s close we’ll let the commers call that one so we don’t oh really 42 Isaac Morris was given that one it must have been close was close I was just about to say how well he done Oh I thought he had done well it’s pretty close that’s the thing someone fres of a second decision right so Hunter’s done Sprints at the end of a Mot race but I don’t know if he’s done any Sprints in here most of the stuff he’s been doing is long stuff he’s going where’s my rival be assertive be assertive Co faran come up on the outside coming around he’s launched the attack he’s got the run Hunters fighting him all the way to see if he can get back on terms nice r and so Cole faran takes that from Hunter Adams uh great rice by those guys so that is the bgrade means elimination if that’s Hunter’s first ever Elimination race yeah that’s a phenomenal effort it’s great no and he will learn a whole lot so um and that’s where this is just such a great learning experience we have lots of races over a few days near BR kle Lots we’ve got bigger field lining up for the a grade Elimination race we’re going to see ol oliv Clark Magnus jamson Carter pay Alex bther Bernard porson Lucas zatti Lucas bie Oliver ke Shan thre Sterling Janelle Toby Jones Matthew Davidson and on the blue Dan Morton David ju Jamie Henderson Ruben Sheard Jesse Johnson Riley krton Joshua grieve and Daniel grieve good field greatfield and a lot of these guys would have done a lot of elimin some of them will want to use power and speed some of them as you say will think about that tax stick boxing sort of stuff later on in terms of their competitors won’t they if you watch Magnus jamson like he’s very very tactical when he comes to an elim race I think in the last two years I must have watched him do 15 16 elims and he’s only lost one he’s exceptional at them rides a bubble very very well tends to ride too high three or full back pushes guys high up the track very very well so he’s in the Southland kit he’ll be well worth a good watch of if you want to learn how to become a good elim Rider so keep your high on him he’s coming around right at two as they come around here in the white helmets and mainly white K with the red and yellow highlights from Southland so Matthew Davidson on the front and you’re going to see Marshall lward rolling up just in behind him I’m not sure if Magus Json Magnus jeson yes that too trust me lots of MERS Marshall will do well from America with his would do well yep his his older South colleague apologies Marshall um and apologies Magnus great to see two Riders over here from Australia Toby Jones from Queensland and where’s my other one I think it’s Luca Lucas aaty from New South Wales so Matt Davidson who’s up on the fence first Rider very aggressive bike rider So when you say aggressive he throws punches what do you mean by aggressive oh he just goes off the front a lot this is not the race for doing that but he’s he’s well worth the watch he’s an entertaining bike rider you’re right we’ll see him say he he likes to to launch a tax launch big efforts off it doesn’t end I’m sure we’ll see that when we get to Medicine which is the last event for the insurance ride later on this afternoon correct down on the bottom David quon’s in first wheel one of the smoothest bike riders you’ll ever see the unfortunately he’s carrying a little bit of sickness so it’ll be interesting to see how he can manage himself through this he’s technically very very good one of the best pedlers you’ll ever see with a bright bright future and he’s only under 17 so yeah some really talented young guys coming through here and it’s really nice to see them all stepping up into this a grade now behind him Jamie Henderson another one that goes really well and Jamie’s still under 17 I think so yeah first year 19 next year so uh he and he’s got huge power right very powerful bike rider and as we heard the New Zealand um Junior world’s Riders have been undergeared a bit from the restrictive gearings to make things a bit more challenging for them in this racing so apparently Lucas B unfortunately isn’t starting no he’s sick yeah number of guys they would have maybe tested out see if they could get through that first one and they would have know how they felt they’ve got a camp obviously in a few days time have to make the call with going to do more harm than good by racing today unfortunately and we’re underway watch the effort these guys should be putting in if you’re at the back you don’t want to be at the back burnard porson trying to generate speed trying to get up front he’s already passed maybe seven or eight Riders trying to push forward was that Carter pain maybe who did come sort of a bit further back he tried to push his way up in the car’s done well B’s gone from last wheel all the way to the front yeah that’s probably the best effort last of first is I suppose about as much as you can overachieve so we’re into the racing we’re going to get the Bell this time as you can see it’s just straight into it that’s right they straighten to 55k an hour right the the flying right at the back he’s looking Upstairs Downstairs so this somebody down on the inside maybe in cany strip cany Kit’s not looking good always saying he’s aw it’s a little bit dangerous but it might be outside him this time 49 from canbury Ry kmon Dan Morton just getting himself into a rhythm on the front now so Ry I don’t think’s heard the call so he’s still actively racing so we’re going to be neutral this time so got it sorted who’s going to get eliminated this time Reuben sheeper out that time so the Riders are having trouble hearing they need to turn up the m microphone a bit sorry three rers from Australia I’ve got two New South Wales kits I’ll work out who they all are up Reuben was the one who got eliminated that time 69a so Luca from New South Wales out that time too so Toby Jones Queensland he’s pushing up on the front now sitting on Matthew Davidson’s hip think that might be C of pain maybe just in behind him Toby’s going to Junior worlds for Australia as well so it’s it’s fantastic to have these guys coming across here and and getting that little bit of racing in before they head across case is working really hard to find his position there big sprint happening on the back lots of effort going in so Noah Val unfortunately for number 47 sha fro out that time from Canterbury he did everything he could but unfortunately he was not able to get his position up to not be on last position so as one right here I’m going to try and pick up his number number yellow um we will call him till he comes by number 34 so he’s been living dangerously for a little bit that’s Joshua grieve so he’s managed to be visual to us on the back a number of times but come around every time do a surge and keep himself alive so let’s see can he again this time looks like he can leaving some people in trouble on the inside 58 so Jesse Johnson out that time oh he’s going to be scrambling this time around he needs a big run at these wheels he just in front of him Alex both make go high so we’re talking about Alex he’s in pink down on the back he’s left himself nowhere to go Joshua geve might just be off the backat now he’s made a number of Sprint efforts so he’s just got nothing left in the leags he’s already put out too many watts so Joshua will get eliminated that time but if if you watch now Alex needs to actually reverse out and go around the back yeah we saw David ju he’s just put a surge over the top to come around on the front get out of all the danger you can see Alex both the re as you said realize he’s got to push up and get around like he’s going to be able to get on Sterling’s wheel he’s pushed Sterling up so Sterling’s now living dangerously at the back C’s done well it’s gone over the top dangerous down on the inside multicolored Rider I’m not sure what number they’ll name that is but he’s the one down on the inside at the moment in that tricky position2 and he is Daniel grieve he’s eliminated that time so you can see as we’re talking tactics Riders who just want to be on the front be out of trouble not worry about getting boxed Bernard porson he comes through over the top Now Toby from Queensland following him sitting outside Matthew Davidson and behind them Dan Morton haven’t talked about him at all thus far so he hasn’t been on the front hasn’t been in trouble on the back so starting to see the creen coming to the top of the front here meanwhile down the back still lots of sprinting going on and Oliver ke had nowhere to go it’s a shame he he actually rode very very well I I didn’t see the mistake he made but he up to that point he’d ridden very very well and that’s as you say all it takes is one unlucky lap where things don’t quite go to plan isn’t it yeah right to Carter pay young man goes really well he’s down the back at the moment he’s got a kick he will have a plan I don’t imagine he wants to stay there see where he gave he’s giv himself a little bit of room to run at what’s he going for oh he’s gone for the he’s gone for the inside L trying to use that acceleration but not going to work a c of pain out that time Sterling’s been living dangry where he’s been as well so it’ll be interesting to see the decision that Sterling makes now he actually probably needs to push Alex up the track if he can so Sterling’s in the red St Peters kit Alex is in the pink down on the back here so Sterling’s trying to look away to get a little bit higher Oliver Clark I think that’s Christ Church boys high kit is down the rider on the inside that we’ve talked keeps becoming this dangerous position yeah especially with Maggie there like Maggie is using his brains and he’ll pin he’ll pin guys below him beautifully and he has Oliver Clark nowhere to go Magie I presume we’re saying Magnus beg you pardon Magnus Jameson y yeah in the Southland kit no that’s all right you can have the nickname but just everyone else needs to know so that’s the writer from Southland we said really smart at writing these things remember they’ve got under gads that don’t want to be on the front maybe so Bernard porson from Matthew Davidson from toian Queensland looks like he continues to be really comfortable there Dan Morton David ju Jamie Henderson needs to out here he is in that danger zone right Alex and pink he’s getting out can he get round Magnus to basically Magnus has got a huge kick as well it’s going to get tricky on the inside and it is Dam Henderson young man who goes well but got caught out that time about eight left Bernie probably needs to get out of there sorry Bernard porson he’s three down on the pole line and Toby Toby’s aware Toby you need to get out of there Toby where are you going to go push these boys up find a way can see Toby push him up we see confidence these other boys trying to keep him there Alex has jumped around Toby’s currently got nowhere to go he’s going to have to do some massive effort to get off the back here what’s his plan Su just down on the inside can it work Bernie’s going to be tight too oh it’s going to be 41 Toby out that time that was super close he’d actually ridden very well also tiny mistake he he made it try getting out half a lap too late and if that was Sterling who showed some big confidence when Toby came up and L on him sturby Sterling held his wheel so he couldn’t get out um what’s quonnie going to do now David qu so David Quon guy on the back in the red bike he’s got a super Sprint he’s got himself clear bump hits it Sterling’s not going to be able to manage that he’s coming around Magnus now bnard burnard’s going to be tied here it’s all surging on the outside 37 burner ps’s being eliminated on the inside lots of these calls are really close but when you’re on the inside you are seen by that common Seer more you are in that danger zone the hard part is that what we can actually see from a lap and a half out too who needs to make the effort Sterling’s actually done very very well considering he’s he’s lived the whole race at the back he must he must have made a dozen Sprints so far yeah he is just as you say just going again and again again doing it the hard way he’s done it the real hard way me you doing after just to beat him so mat Davidson needs to get out of this position now he’s done well he’s pushed high now cr’s in trouble so now we’ve got lots of riders who are smart at doing got Dan Morton and the canri cut down on the inside super strong he can hold it there Matthew Davidson outside him so if you Magnus jerson will try and pin David qu down which which is totally legal now so so David qu needs to back out somehow or he needs to push Magnus up the track he’s got nowhere to go so it’s three wide sprinting hard on the front but it’s down the back that it’s going to matter Magnus gets on the outside now with clear Road can he get through David won I think does get caught on the inside yep 45 David gone that time he had ridden really well till then but just you saw Magnus use that smart riding thing going yep I’ll just do enough to hold my line and keep you here so you can’t do that quick search four left Dan Morton on the front Matthew Davidson Alex bther so if you watch Magnus now pretty much he’s going to hunt down Alex which he’s done now and now now’ll probably hold him he’ll hold him there we go so so now done enough to have that overlap is’s got nowhere to go come arounds Magnus has a look so and that’s part of like while he’s an endurance Rider he’s growing up with all these Sprint skills as well look huge push from because I know for counter bik background where he goes really well and he’s making great progression in terms of this track racing over the last couple of years so I think he’s still under 17 where these three boys they’re off to the junior worlds all under 19 yeah here we go sprin is launched Dan Morton he’s the one boxed in the back he’s got to find a way to get around they’re very even speed wise Magnus holding Matthew on the outside Dan Morton trying to come right on the outside to Surge can he get up and over oh let the judges call that one Matthew Davidson giving the elimination that was probably a we’ll call it a close call it was close that was one of those super close calls we’re not on the perfect angle from here we might have thought something different but it is what it is there’s two left who’s going to be aggressive here Dan leaning out Magnus this is where you talk I’d say Magnus has probably got more of the match sprinting background than Dan would that be fair but Dan’s got a lot of power Dan has lots of power Maggie’s got a beautiful kick so Maggie’s just waiting although he’s got a bit of a dead wheel yeah he’s dead on the wheel and they in the smaller that the limits are two for this aren’t they so cany come around at the last bit oh great s by Magnus great Race by everybody has been very awesome racing that was superb was good we were entertained right so that is the end of that round of endurance events we have sprinters up for longest lap next I’m not sure how much of the Sprint field we will see um because it’s not an event that’s World Championship Olympic event unfort a number of the senior Riders sometimes choose to step it out and not do it um so we’ll see we’ll probably get a a Mixed Field maybe in terms of how this is Others May want people we going through for the more senior Sprint matches that we saw earlier they may be holding back so they can come through and do Sprints in the afternoon session thank you Mike appreciate your help [Music] [Music] what [Music] just by the [Music] open my eyes [Music] [Music] [Music] hey it’s so great to see some sites of the wiper there the river path around the place Riverside Adventures down below that can transport you to and from but heo sponsors that are assisting putting this event on this weekend so AO gaming trust and then a big shout out a prv who are major track bike importers and distributors in New Zealand and they look after some phenomenal Brands um seall obviously a bike we see a number of them out there Kima wheels from France rder cranks you can get power meters there um Elite trainers look obviously another track frame we see out there a lot Bond cycling those shoes are very popular with track Riders um fm3 and then we want to also thank Subway haraway Road Doats and Whitakers who are all providing um you know support to this weekend so thank you to all those sponsors hey another one that I asked around I thought would be interesting so from my persective previously ints has always been three rounds and it’s normally been a Friday Saturday Sunday thing so I sort of asked um hey what had changed and asked New Zealand what had changed there so what they acknowledged last year the third NTS round unfortunately clashes with school exams are bits and pieces and they only got 50 Riders and at that um number of riders unfortunately it’s not economically viable to run but being in September fing with sort of School Mock exams and things so that’s why they’ve dropped that one away the other feedback was in terms of dropping to 2 days makes it easier for those who are traveling for other parts of the country to be able to do it on the weekend so feedback one why it was again a little bit of a numbers thing down there in Southland the feedback was so positive that they thought it would work well so they thought they would try and do this acknowledging probably didn’t need to be a three-day contest where’s a lot of riders up here have done particularly on the Enduro side they’ve done North Island um Road Champs potentially North Island track Schools the younger Riders and then heading this so often we saw them at the end of 3 days some of the Enduros being a little bit tapped out no problem for the sprinters as much um but yeah that’s the decision for why just two rounds and two days this year so um looks to be going well at the stage and obviously look they’ll be open to hearing feedback so for those who are wondering those are the sort of reasons why we’re on for two days and two rounds of national track Series this year and I think this is the first time Jason correct me if I’m wrong I don’t think I’ve ever seen any Australians come over to this before so that’s a bit of a first MBE as well which is good to see it is indeed the first time uh quite often the Kiwi Riders have traveled over to the other side of the ditch to get involved in the uh Australia National track Series this is the first time that uh We’ve reciprocated and we’ve had Riders come over to to race in our rounds so hopefully they go back and spread the good word and we get more of them coming over because the uh it’s a easy way for us to raise the standard of racing which then raises our level of uh Rider that we produce and it works for for both countries yeah it does because as you say that you get very used to racing people that you race event in an event out there you so this gives you something where somebody’s going to bring a different approach do something tactically differently have different strengths of weaknesses that know they they’re working within so it makes it much better to then go into International competition with something you haven’t seen before yeah for those that can’t see I’m sitting here quickly nodding my head in an agreement agreement with Simon uh it doesn’t make for uh great radio or commentary but uh I agree wholeheartedly right we are into longest lap so what the ladies are going to do they’re going to be rolling away coming round and essentially coming into a track stand scenario between the purit line which is the red line about 20 M short of the start finish line and the start Finish Line commers probably got a time in mind that they will want to hold them you cannot cross the start Finish Line till a whistle I’m presuming they’re going to use will blow when that blows basically they are sprinting around to be able to take them WI a normal Sprint fashion um there’s no Laps on the board so I’m assuming it’s just a one laap effort so one laap effort from the stand so you’re going to see them come in some Riders are better at balancing uh some of you will see that that is not part of the aray plan so uh develops uh a lot of skills that are required for match sprinting uh you’re basically time and distance uh control Piper Newton if you UNP put your foot down like sheer stun you are out sorry j took over you yeah that time and distance uh management balance on the bike is in the track stand so they’re underway Amelia wood from tiu she’s leading us away sar’s just in behind her and that will be Minnie Collins in position three obviously know if you cross the white liner you put your foot down you do get eliminated and so it looks like Amilia wood will take that one yeah so Amelia there obviously got a really nice acceleration away from their Slow Roll in/ trackstand uh and opened herself out a nice 10 15 M Gap early on and that was always going to be really difficult to close in one lap cuz the whole thing isn’t it now it’s it’s one thing to Bal balance but then it’s another when that whistle goes and if your balance you nor have your cranks horizontal you can go and Chuck some power down and do a start but if you’re in that rolling position you can always get so your cranks are are vertical essentially and then you’re not able to put any power on quickly are you and you’re really caught out yeah definitely uh and even amongst Riders the they’ll all have slightly different techniques of how they uh balance on their bike where their front wheels uh position where their back wheels position uh their cranks and and some have all their weight into the the back crank even though they’ve got their cranks Splat and it’s really then hard for them to transfer the weight from the back crank to the to the front crank to try and get the bike going again and you’ll find that they miss the jump and can’t get that acceleration going fast enough so this men’s Field’s quite a bit larger what’s that eight of them out there so it’s going to be quite congested in the Box oh the boys are always up for banging bars and throwing elbows and showing off their skills so you’ll have the likes of uh KY L he will roll around and he’ll get back to the uh the starting box very early because he is very comfortable and very skilled with his track St and he will uh roll right up to the fence and the start line and he’ll po himself there so he’s got the downhill run n’s in front of him to get in his way ready for that whistle to release and start his one laap Sprint and say it is a skill that’s important toel CU obviously sometimes in match Sprints it does come down to that that ST stand still balance which now we didn’t see any in the earlier rounds but it can um just seeing a few Riders bounce around then Ben Murphy looks like he’s indicated he’s pretty confident in balancing I don’t really know in terms of Flynn or Alex or know any miles or any of these other boys but we will see all will be revealed but you’re right at the senior level I think your son Jackson Kyo um oh who’s just sort of having a of a break at the moment Jason I’m thinking of who was stupidly good at balancing and track skills oh Patrick Patrick Clancy he’s another one who can do it very well okay let’s see what happens so kyo’s got that position one he is our favorite for being the most experienced at doing this let’s see what some of these other younger men can show and offer you can already see we get hey Doo D I think you’re stuck on camera Sor right we just realized we’ll just flip the camera over there we go and we will pick things up so many things to concentrate on people US amateur but we’re all great so as as predicted you see KY he’s uh very confident he doesn’t care how long he spends in that box he’s uh happy with his track stand skills uh all the other boys are being a little bit more circumspect and uh they were trying to limit the amount of time that they’re going to spend stationary in in the holding box and you see those that are conf about this do what K did where they’re almost they get to their cranks horizontal they almost use that bounce thing almost using it like a break versus others that don’t have that skill who want to just roll as slowly as they can because you basically need to find a point where your balance where you can sort of hold yourself so Jared and blue he’s got that we’ve got some other Riders who are moving through about to lose and there he goes oh Jared’s put a foot down so he’s got to get out of trouble yeah and now G to much up hill so he’s going to get out Zachary Willet he’s got himself too close from what I’m seeing I don’t think he’s going to survive there he’s going forward and backwards that’s exerting a lot of energy yeah he up the track either it’s hard riding uphill on the F geared bike Ben Murphy Oh Zach out oh Ben Murphy is out and the whistle is gone and you see Kyo he’s got the height he knows how to start well who else is going to go after him looks like Flyn Underwood that might be who’s going to try and jump up and O relics but Kyo is bike links in front Jason you called that very well well he did exactly what you said he would do and he just shows all that time you think it’s just clanning around to being silly on a bike but there you go it brings bike skills that helped him win that race yeah Kyo is a classy bike rider he’s got a ton of talent and skill uh and he showed it right there um Flynn Underwood through per second hey so just a question people were asking so a lot of the other big header sprinters they haven’t come out to do the longest lap obviously know I made the comment it’s not an Olympic event or anything like that but what’s the reason in terms of not doing it and holding back for this afternoon’s Racing for them yeah they’re just looking to conserve the energy there’s some big races coming up you’ll have Tom Troy versus Liam kaver you’ll have Simon uh Simon Luke Blackwood uh versus Jackson Russell and they will be some heart forward battles so those boys are just looking to conserve their energy uh allow themselves to recover appropriately before they uh come in for the next round the racing which should be epic yeah no and we are happy with that we will be entertained later even if we missed out on sing who was the the battle of the the longest lap and Kai can come through and say he got bragging rights out of that one out of out of that older group he showed the younger boys come back to the track on your your off days and do a bit of balancing action and they they’ be hard pushed to beat Kyo and that uh it’s an event that’s probably tailor made for a ky lot uh excellent skills excellent positioning and a nice acceleration I remember one time we’re not on the screen at the moment but like just in front of us where it’s stupidly steep in the corner and I’m trying to remember I think it was Jackson and Patrick Clancy had gone past the point to where it was flat enough to balance and they had moved to scenario where they had their front wheel on an angle but they were vertically pointing down the track because that’s how steep it was and they were balancing holding themselves well past the start Finish Line well past the scoreboard um I remember that day just thinking that was nuts never seen anyone but the two of them prepared to do it side by side both knew that the other one had the skills to offer until yeah they then got the race going yeah so we uh affectionately term that the Grassroots challenge uh and their challenge actually came from one of the New Zealand Elite Riders yeah uh who videoed himself uh rolling onto the Grassroots uh sign in the banking and stopping and track standing there so it’s just after the start Finish Line as you roll into the roll through and you get into the just the transition into the uh to the 43° banking and yeah they stand in balance on the Grassroots sign uh which is quite a good plug for one of our sponsors one of our major sponsors um and so that just grew from there yeah so Jackson Patrick and Ruben uh they were happy to accept the challenge and had numerous attempts uh some ending up sliding down the track on the their back sides and others more successful um but in that instance CU it is so steep they are literally almost trying to Pedal backwards to keep the bike from going down and they have to come in at a very gentle and very unnerving speed because if they come in at pace and try and stop uh there’s just not enough Traction in the tires and they’ll just slide down the track anyway so this sounds like it comes with one of those big disclaimers that said don’t try this at home this was filmed under professional conditions these are experts yeah no no animals were hurt in the making of This film okay so we’re into Madison now back to one of the injura races thanks Jason for joining us again really appreciate your insights we’re just waiting to get start sheets for what the teams are okay so Madison if you’re not familiar with it we basically we’re racing in peers we’re going to have the woman’s race first and then the two men’s races you will see the Riders wearing a matching shirt with their teammate we will have one on this side of the track the other will start on the fence on the back side of the track looks like we’re going to have about half a dozen teams or so um set up but we will get those start sheets any second and we will know where we’re at so fish obviously a whole lot of different skills in the meadow obviously hand slinging to your teammate is one of them um thinking about always going outside a change over is another one am which perspective I acknowledge I’ve never done one I’ve watched a few and talked about it but I have no idea what I’m doing have have you done any or you leave this to young boys I’ve done a little bit of practice just to understand what they’re going through but I’ve never actually race one myself so um no I’ve watched a lot of it and sort of worked out with the younger guys early on we tried working a chain schedule for them but there’s too much going through their minds so ultimately what we’ve ended up doing thank you is is saying hey look do you want to get thr with a lap and a quarter to go or do you want to get thrum with three4 of a lap to go you need to work that part out so you need to understand as a team wins that right part that you want to change corre but hey you’re going around and around around how how do you decide how you get thrown in with like half a lap to go this is three quarters how do you control that so so as as you’re coming in with about four laps to go you you need to be able to gauge the speed of whoever is down on the bottom doing the racing so up top what we find is a lot of people ride too fast up top when they’re not involved in the race and ultimately we want people to be able to slow down get as much elevation as possible watch as much as they can and then adjust the speed accordingly so if I know that I’ve got someone trying to throw me in with with the lap and a quarter to go I know where I need to be at that time so I can adjust my speed up try I just want them going flat down the bottom you know hey so the girls are underway we’ll just call so we’ve got what have we got about the Dozen teams here so laser Val project has got Mya wolfon and Sophie Maxwell the light speed team Christina C Scott and Michaela Peri baradine Maya pipple and mdy Bell greenell kit Amelia syes Lucy Levi I don’t know where that says in the jeans but let’s pretend so um Minnie Collins and Hannah PNE Southland kit Riley Acro and Li St Peters cambri that’s the red Kit Lexi Newton and violet deer canbury Jesse Thompson Eliza McKenzie MSU Molly Hayes and Brody pear so that’s sort of the orange and black shirt you can just see coming around there at the moment and m q Elena warl and Nina warl so that’s our field this is a points race so every 10 laps they’re going to be sprinting for points 3 2 1 and then that will be double points on the last um we will try and pick out Riders and bits and pieces and and update you on that ultimately what we want to be able to do is if we can float sort of five six seven laps eight laps riding at second third wheel so you’re riding the bubble so you’re not having to do all that on the front and then as you’re throwing your person in you want to be riding one or two and now you’re seeing these changes happen so that’s the the smart tactical bit you want to be in the draft not doing too much work making sure you’re staying in the bunch cuz some we’ll see when these changeovers happen some Riders will be very good and they will maintain their position others won’t be quite as confident change and they might lose several bike Lings when they make that change correct and you’ll you’ll see from this the first couple of people to make the change we’re nice and clean soon as those people were trying to change and around all the traffic they start losing bike length and this will be Mia SES on the front and the green know she’s done plenty of these she’s a little bit older she’s really experienced she knows what she’s doing um as you say yeah and did smooth super smooth change to make all the others have to chase onto it so they’re all coming back together again now and obviously this is an Olympic event that’s what’s really pushing at this level know the more experience they can get as they build up their riding experience rather than suddenly become the super fit super powerful cyclist and then you’ve got to learn the skill and stuff and as you could hear from Mike talking about it that whole thing of learning to set your pace and control your pace you’re only ever going to learn that by doing it you’re never really going to learn that by watching I can understand the concept but you’re not going to be able to do that to your deliver so Lucy and green she’s jumped off the front now we’re going to be two laps to the next Sprint ideally we want we want them to be using as high they they want to be the they want to be as high up the banking as they can utilize the free speed to come down yep so they’re going to get the Bell South’s well positioned maybe one length back here comes the Laser team either M or Sophie sorry I haven’t worked out who’s who yet she’s done well to hold her on the H I don’t think she’ll hold her out so Lucio get points um so Sophie I think that was takes the points and instantly throws your teammate in nice clean change looks like they yeah they’ve made some distance so Lucy’s thrown into ailia Amilia has basically had to get out of the seat to Serge and accelerate and has to think about how to close that gap down Molly haes in the yellowy shirt she’s following him behind followed by Southland canri came working on their own Unfortunately they just need to get back on terms it’s hard when you’re no men’s land right and you’re she’s working as hard as the rider on the front of the races so potentially obviously you either just have to work there you have to hope um now explain to everyone so if you think you want your riter to be doing a shorter turn or a longer turn how do you change your speed when you’re off to to move that around what generally what will happen is as the riter comes down to make the change you’ll hear there’s actually a lot of noise and so the Riders will talk to each other about about what they want and and in particular where they want to attack off the front where they just want to maintain speed they so it’s such a fluid race that you can’t go in with one tactic you’ve got to you you’ve got to be able to change and and improvise when needed and you hopefully you’re not doing too many reactions to other teams and that you’re actually causing pain to other people that are out there you know so they’re having to react to you and there is just so much going on like it’s it’s the one event where it is just so much easier to watch live than see on a screen cuz on the screen we can show you this front bunch at the moment but what you haven’t seen is canb Ryder got dropped off you know as Mike was talking the left of No Man’s Land changed rder and know we pick up who it was from the can team’s just given a massive surge to be able to get itself back in uh so that it was Jesse Thompson did a big surge to basically get themselves back on terbs so Molly gets thrown in but once again if you saw how smooth you know between the the South Rider the laser Rider beautiful nice easy changes Molly ha change was a little bit more traffic three laps to go for the next Sprint Laser team pulls up so now you should be starting to see Riders starting to fight for first wheel So currently it’s Molly MSU team on the front so you see results C that’s MSU that that sort of orange kit that we can see from the side there’s five teams together in the front they’re going to battle out for these points if you seen Molly Molly lapped off there with two laps to go now now she’s got to find a way to try and find clean air for the girl that she’s throwing in um to give it the best possible chance to get points so they’re going to get the Bell laser team’s going to throw their Rider in with one lap to go canab changed back so that’s Eliza McKenzie is in there at the moment South thr going through Green Team it’s not worked for the change for them just the timing was wrong so milia keep going and left Lucy out there so this is where Lucy now needs to sit right back and try and ease up so I think laser picked that one up again so they might move to 10 points and if you take a lap you will gain 20 points lose a lap you will lose 20 points um just like a normal point RAC on this one as well so seeing canb I think wanting to launch a bit of attack coming around from the bunch doing a bit of a surge well the others want to get on terms who’s going to do the work she’s making a gap leaving Laser team who’s currently leading the scoreboard on 10 points having to do the work to chase this back down it’s a big effort with eight laps to go before the next Sprint you know that is a big eff I’m not sure but she’s got a plan she maybe was figuring she would see if she could get way but they’ve all got back on terms with her so canab will come and change so good effort on the attack but it’s all come to nil unfortunately as these things often do and now she needs to be able to recover before her next turn so she’s rolled up take some big breaths e the legs off right so we got Laser team surging on the front at the moment Lucy for the Green Team chasing her down followed by Southland Rider going through at the moment is Riley is the rider out there from Southland right now now I’ll try and work out the helmets between the ler and Nina work out who is who so I think that’s Nina who’s basically out there now that we can see nice change by the girls on the green kit so often you have to swim swing out quite wide don’t you to get round the changes that are going on and keep yourself out of trouble yeah the the big thing is you know always use a track always ride up on the track give the guys a bit of space that of making the change so s four teams that look to be pretty comfortable out there the whole time so green has got a milia s out there at the moment the L Laser team I’m not sure I’ll pick up with Sophie or meire who’s out there at the moment canbury team in Southland and that is Sophie who’s on the front at the moment South’s changed over so that is Lily who’s in that group the one thing you’ll find about so the four teams that are at the front the Green tonelli Team Southland and Laser have spent a lot of time riding first or second wheel the changes have been nice and smooth the kber girls have done very very well because they’ve actually chased onto the back several times so they’ve done they’re obviously very fit they’ve done done a good job but been able to stay there with the front of the race so Lucy from the Green Team she’s given it a real surge we’ve seen the canab team come through South’s going to get over as she’s getting through for a change Laser team goes around the outside that’s a bit of change stayed nice and close bit of a heart moment but they all still there so that’s good um a team Southland coming around this is points so she will come through she will get the five green will get second and Laser will get third in that one and canbury will just miss out on the points oh 5 3 2 1 sorry canri will get one point get one Lucy throws ailia back in Southland Rider on the front with nine laps to go it’ll be interesting to see if one of these teams decide to try and split them up laser are coming fast oh oh good skills yep it gets a bit flat on that blue stuff mid Corner doesn’t it m she did a good job staying up nice skills right she had a lot of speed too so unfortunately she lost speed so we’re just waiting for the result of that third Sprint to go up so we can see all those results for you so we still haven’t seen that so it’s still just a result of two sprints okay Southland then green then laser then canbury we the points there so that’s going to basically bring it really tight up top laser on 12 Southland on 10 greenell at seven canb three nice so you’ll see teams all I thought she was going to I thought she was going to try and work really hard to just gone now you you’ll see teams actually getting desperate now you you’ll want to throw your rer in first or second so light speed remember they’re not on the points at the stage they’re they’re down um they’re on no points so they’re roughly just taking themselves out of being a lap Downs that was good by them so the Laser team come and change over Lucy from Green is out there laser putting the pressure on she needs to put her head down and keep going green keeping after them Brody from MSU that’s that sort of orangey kit down the back she’s keeping in the mix canab we come through to do another change so four laps to go this time this is your front race this bunch here so it’s good point commentator just reminding us if the maths do come out that you’re on the same it’s where you get placed in that final Sprint in terms of where you change over so I’ve got a baradine kit that’s May pepper and medy Bell just doing a change so if you watch here the laser Rider that is that’s not in the race at the moment she’s riding fast so her partner’s actually had to ride a long long way I think that’s Sophie who’s taken out the Sprint so maybe this has been the tactic she wanted to get herself in she’s only going to have two laps to go front here so she’s timed this well greenell be hard to pull back from here so Amelia’s just put the gas down she’s out in front front there’s probably lasers about 50 m behind at the moment and then we’ve got the bunch that’s got canbury and MSU together so mil is going to get the Bell she’s still got 50 m over the Laser team that’s chasing her so that’ll get 10 take them to 22 six will take the other team to 18 canb is now coming through with an absolute surge but I’m not sure she will be able to get laser before the line so Lucy will now cross the line for first and that is the race we’ll get those final points confirmed and we’ll see where that Telly comes so that’s the first of the medison I think we’re running on time with when the expected finish was today so well done to the Riders and commers for doing that sort of things we meant to finish about 3:00 in about half an hour’s time so so we’re doing nicely on schedule at the moment so you can see there over that last 10 laps how important it is for the rider who’s not involved in the race to be riding as slow as possible up high so if you ride slow you don’t ride as far down the bottom and then yeah if you’re riding fast up high the rider down the Bottom’s got to do a lot more flaps before change but then you’ve got to be able to hold your nerve with how slow you can ride up top yeah so you do not want to be sliding down the wall for going too slow it’s that delicate balance so still waiting for that last Sprint result to go up that’s pretty cool we’ve just been told the the Olympic team is going to be leaving in the break after this and so all these Young Riders can go and give them a big cheer as they drive out the head to Orland airport to get on the big bird to fly to Paris we obviously wish them well we hope that they come back know it’s mainly the Enduro Riders are effectively in Europe already so it’ll be mainly just the sprinters who will be hitting away so for the women’s team and Sam D here we go here’s our next list of riders thank you perfect Justin time management Okay so bgrade we’ve got quite a Big Field here um so black spoke shirts are going to be Angus Sims and Jonah Waters New South Wales Ruben sheeper and ly z z zetti hope I’m pronouncing that right uh transport engineering Deep South Ry krampton Oliver ke yellow shirts Joshua grieve Daniel grieve orange shirts Karen stren and MKS sarden uh spoke spoke Diva Diva spoke spoken dvo spoken dvo Jamie Henderson and Remy Dalton APL Alex bther and Andrew Henderson pink bubbles they’ve called themselves Isaac Morris and sha 3 gold to see that shirt and red and green shirt Cole faran and Carter pay is going to be your bigr field so quite a big field so 30 laps three Sprints for the guys I so we’re going to see some team Sprints this afternoon I understand as well when we get Sprint action back on so second of the medicon B gr mens bigger part of the field right I can see what red and green looks like got that one I can see what yellow looks like I get what pink bubbles look like it does look like pink bubbles that an absolutely Fair description of that shirt I’d have to say almost looks like a climb J does oh it is maybe they’re going to get extra points for going high in all the corners m t has been great watching hasn’t it yeah fantastic I have loved it but I won’t say too much but it was a bit stink I get there’s a few being eliminated due to illness injury those sort of things which is is always part of it but it’s always gutten cuz it’s really exciting this year um the way it is and we want as many of them to stay to the Finish to give us another great week’s entertainment Big Mountain stages this weekend right no mountains here let’s get back into this medison so we got a field of about 10 first change is underway they started roaring they have roaring like these guys they know they’re only essentially riding you know Les 15 laps each so they’ve got plenty of gas in the tank to do that haven’t they looks like it’s ke day ke is putting the pressure down with the transport so that’s that white and red shirt you can see on the front there they’re surging away transport engineering so most teams are all on terms there it’s only maybe blackpoke that’s just got drifted off the back a little all the other teams are all in there you South Wales boys come through and take the front after cateran pulls off maybe Jamie Henderson apologies better get the right rer oh missed change so that was green and red not getting that speed right wasn’t it you need to come down high on the banking and have that speed to do a fast change now I’m think now now they don’t know who that if you see them they don’t know who’s in the race and who’s not and so they’re both out there having to work and no one’s resting isn’t it so Alex is trying to work out I get out of it I haven’t been able to get back out to him to race he knows it’s gone wrong now he needs to slow down he needs to get rid of all that speed meanwhile up on the back straight um Oliver ke we saw earlier he’s got himself nice and high accelerates down off the banking makes it easy to bring himself up to speed clean change nice change nice role model for how to do that well done boys so they are leading the race going to get three laps to go this time Jamie throws Remy back in the race we’ve still got Oliver ke a little bit off in the front so we’ve got Alex ready for a change again it’s not using the banking for that acceleration sort of getting in position early but that’s no this might be their first time for Alex doing a medicine so it’s all par So Jamie needs to really put the braks on out for the spoken dvo team otherwise oh that was a good hit that one would have hurt so we got one rer down I think he’s okay he’s unclipping Bell’s still going so at the moment number 22 spok and dvo are off the front they’re pushing Ryder who came down he is okay he’s sitting up well when I say kk yep that one will have hurt but he is sitting up is the good news so K should be okay is the main thing of course but his partner now needs to work a lot of left oh is he back up yep no yep he walking back around but that one would have hurt somehow or another he managed to cross his front with the coming into the change and flip himself this is that understanding right so so ke actually set up there whereas he he now realizes that he’s in the race and he’s the only one in the race for the team so always if you’re wondering where the front of the race is just look for the comm’s finger and where he’s pointing when the camera comes around so at the moment spoken dvo which is the light blue shirt number 22 and the white helmet coming around now that’s the front of the race they are in front they’ve been chased by the green team with the spots number 27 that scored themselves red and green which is not the most red and green shirt out there but hey what do I know so you see these teams having to come quite wide to come through for the change it’s good Jam’s got this under control so Jamie I think skipped that change didn’t he I’m not sure whether his teammate didn’t see him or whether it was a planned move but anyway Remy Dalton set High Jamie just keep going picking up a bit of ground so spok and dvo took out that first Sprint and they basically kept the pressure on number 27 which is Cole far again and Carter pay they’re trying to get back on tombs car Carter’s doing a good job here of getting back to him he has his close back up to Jamie so these two will know each other very well nice change Remy and Remy I think probably did pretty smartly then I suspect from when I talked about them missing it he did seem to obviously pick things up so Alex trying to chase back on he’s pulling up so Alex is part of APL the stripe shirt they’re calling it and then we’ve got the Australian boys and the polka dot Jersey so that’s your top five teams out there at the moment New South Wales boys are coming in to do a change just a couple of bike links off the back of that group so they’ll probably be wanting to get back in touch three laps from the next Sprint Alex and Andrew better change that time by them they’re getting a bit more into it with without the the system of changes New South W boys come up pretty quick sorry mik say now they need to fight for the for first well see they’ all set up no want to do any work now but whoever leads their guy out first is going to get a better run leading into the spring so rem’s going to come in and throw Jamie in probably a pretty good time here isn’t he so if they do a good throw and he can control that front oh we got another crash is that Alex uh no it’s Andrew Andrew Andrew down but he’s up so he’s up in Mobile they’re just checking his bike’s okay and they’ll look to get him out there again hopefully if he’s all right I’ll just check and have a chat about that meanwhile up the front we’ve got Jamie Henderson he’s sprinting in front from one of the New South Wales Boys New South Wales boys just on his hit but I don’t think he’s going to be able to come around him has a look up and goes I’ll take second Jamie prepared to keep going no he swings up New South Wales swing up as well so that’ll be uh 53 and two and I think not sure who picked up the one point in that one seems where rers out so it looks like red and green have actually exited the track yeah Alex looks like he’s chosen to pull off as a result of that as well so his transport exit track as well yeah yeah that white shirtt that came down earlier Oliver ke is just rolling around okay eight laps to go four teams in the main mix up in the front here that I think are all on the front lap so Remy on the front they’ been joined by the pink bubbles polka dot team I think that’s Isaac out there at the moment for New South Wales I think might be Luca with every Sprint we’ve had so far whoever is Led Out first and made the first change leading in has one the Sprint so we’ll see what happens in the next seven laps six laps and apologies it’s Reuben there from New South Wales at the moment he’ll come through and change to Luca shortly six laps to go so the a grade Field’s a bit smaller but it will go a whole lot faster Mr change New South team must to change spoken dvo coming in good change there we go someone needed to attack go carter so Carter’s in the green shirt he launched a surge off the front you can see the other four teams just having to really surge to get onto him so he comes up for a quick change to his teammate puts them back out there he continues the pace you see Carter e up looking over his shoulder swings up he Le his Pace off as much as he can see if he can get throwing in for the last lap or so yep meanwhile at the front polka dot shirts getting drifted off a bit so New South Wales leading from a courau the blue shirt spoken dvo Jamie Henderson sitting there at the moment polka dots come back in they’re going to come through going to be two to go this time Cole needs to hit it as hard as he can here slow down Carter so Cole’s in the shoot at the front he hears Mike even though he can’t hear us but telepathically he’s got out of the seat he’s going to be able to come down and throw Carter in get some speed Carter Carter gets up comes down the other Riders go around the outside New South Wales is launched Sak’s got work to do Jam’s here this is going to be a great Sprint to finish this race if Carter can run at him he’s got speed he’s running at him well so the Australian boys they’re looking in the front cter pain and green is coming up pretty quick it’s going to get super close for this one but the team in third is currently leading on 10 points the spoken dvo Jamie Henderson doing what he can CER P takes that one from New South Wales I think that’s going to end up very close on points so I think we will see cater Pain’s team that’s red and green with Cole fan they’ll get 10 points that’ll take them to 14 where did spok and end up spok got third I think so that’ll give their Four Points that’ll also take them to 14 so that’ll come down but I’m just going New South Wales six they pick up six they’ll be on 12 yeah they’ll be in in third so two teams equal on 14 points I think and so the positioning in that last Sprint will decide that equal points result that was well set up yeah it was they ended up um timing and doing that change really well so we’ll just wait for that last Sprint to be confirmed but no good honest racing B those guys out there well done by them sorry aware each time I bloody breathe too much you’re getting a whole lot of mic noise so we’ll try different position for that so still waiting on that final Sprint number so according to our shet we’ve only got 14s in the next race but we’ve got five teams lined up we’ll just make up names for the other Tom Jones Wayne Smith what do you reing we’ll pick some celebrities Tom Jones and Rod Stewart yeah could be now we’re showing our age yeah we are old rock songs so we’ve got Toby from Australia staying with us at the moment nice boy and it occurred to me that I was driving around you know playing the sound which is this you know the old rock songs and as I was driving here this morning again I actually that’s probably not the best thing for a young one cuz they play the very chilled odd Rock in the morning like a bit of find a younger person station Josh would said the edge is more appropriate so I I found that for him on the way here we guns and roses and Death Leopard aren’t we oh very definitely that age love that Death Leopard concert a couple of years ago so just waiting to get that oh there you go red and green 10 light blue New South wal 6 there is the results my MTH was good so red and green take it out winning that final Sprint so equal on 14 but because they won that Sprint they took that out spoken dvo they rode really well as well so 14 and New South Wales thank you for them coming over it’s been awesome to watch them racing out there they picked up third and then the king of the mountains team they picked up fourth which is pretty good since they specialists at climbing mountains and not going around tracks so yeah I’m glad we got that right my school teachers from back in the day when went they they’d be shocked they’d be proud of us hey it looks like we’ve got some downtime that’s going to happen so they’re going to go out and check the track from those couple of crashes um so we will end up with a a little bit of a pause here unfortunately before we can get that next race underway so we’ll just um leave that thing up on the screen we’ll give you a bit of music and we’ll come back to you shortly we were going to pay some classic old diff liid but we found out we um that’s not within our budget and YouTube wouldn’t let us so enjoy this more neutral music and we’ll be back to you shortly [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] 1 [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] step byep but time for I’ve been flying [Music] around are her tonight We Will Fly Above we are heroes [Music] toight yeah we are hero Tonight We Will Fly Above we are her [Music] [Music] feel like aite expl in [Music] I around [Music] hey guys we’re back into it they have repared the track they are happy um that Madison race last time was really good this one’s going to be another 10 laps uh so we’ll get four Sprints so we’ve got Bernard porson and Toby Jones this Bernard in the orange just now give us a wave burnard come on no giving us a nod as much as we can get we didn’t get a wave out of him he’s a bit stch he’s a bit St so he’s P up with Toby Jones out of Australia uh laser shirts so that is can’t even see them but they’re potentially hiding there somewhere so Matthew Davidson it says Sophie Maxwell it is Sophie Maxwell she’s going to get a hard race good on here okay choss CH buoys Oliver Clark Jesse Johnson and in the yellow at the front you’ve got Magnus jamson and Daniel Morton that’s going to be a bit of a devastating team uh we’ve got David ju and I’m not sure who his teammate is on the other side maybe wrote in the last one and they want to try out their luck in this one as well know they went in the last one so five teams looks like David Quan and Sterling does it look like a St Peters kid underneath yeah you might be right those are red sleeves I I’ll accept your offer of who that is so Racers underway so Sophie good on here for going I want to peer up with one of these boys obviously we we do get a mix medicine on the last day normally um but here we go we’ve got Sophie going I’m going to mix it up with the boys early on coming down going to change with Matthew Davidson so Dan Morton on the front now bnard with the red stripe on his helmet position three Toby David ju green shirt in behind and then Oliver Clark we’ve got and the CH shirt on the back there so get a break after this forget what time we’re back we are back at 5:00 tonight Toby used the banking well there beautiful change see he held on to the rail a lot longer they they get to change with no one else and around them which is not a bad idea so because pace is slow they’re not really coming down off the banking phenomenally are they no no obviously not huge punch to work in so Toby’s in the race now Sterling him behind him Sophie only a girl in the race but she’s Happ to take a lap on the front going I’m Not Afraid boys to take a bit of time on the Wind here she swings up Magnus takes over so that’s Toby from Australia and the Queensland kit in behind him Toy’s tall boy 62 so you get a bit of shelter behind him he’s going to tag in his teammate Bernard who they’re not going to get as much shelter off no he’s pretty earo when he rides isn’t he oh yeah yeah when he touchs down there ain’t much Sheltering behind there very very smooth pedler Matt Davidson looking like he’s shaping up to do a Matt Davidson attack as we know he loves doing three laps out see how Bernie there just put pressure on but it it didn’t look like anything he’s he’s one of these guys that sort of looks the same all the time but then just sort of squeezes pedals and speed happens but you haven’t noticed any massive out of the seat kick or anything right two laps to go they’re all together going to see if any teams want to do a change or where they’re just going to keep going so on the front Toby’s going to be thrown in by bnard Toby Dan Morton’s coming around the outside of the orange Toby accelerates now Toby’s going to come around Dan’s had to throw Magnus in so Toby’s launched off he’s going to try and get away he’s got a good Gap Magnus is having to close that so at the moment first points look pretty clear 20 and Sterling Missy change they did miss the change so David’s got to wind it up again meanwhile on the front Toby from Queensland is dragging it away so they the yellow NRS team is what they’re calling that when you see it come up on the scoreboard so Magnus would have picked up second for their team possibly would have been a good opportunity for those guys to keep the pressure on you know yep Fair call Y happy enough for it to come back together 30 laps OD to go now so that’s so the fluro yellow is who’s leading and then that ysd is the orange shirt that’s on the front at the moment laser they’ve got three that’s Matthew Davidson and Sophie that’s the green shirt that’s out there and the laser shorts in Christ Church boys yellow and blue is in fourth place at the moment it’s a team that’s Nam themselves shrick and sort of the bright green they’re the ones who missed out on the points for that first time Soph is’s on the front calls out to Matt comes through you see the Riders slap the backside that’s just a good way to warn the rider behind you isn’t it Mike is it compulsory or is it an optional one what how’s the ruling work on that no it’s just one of those things that the young guys I I guess do to uh to let each other know as as they get hiring into the elites it’s almost in anything goes but you learn I guess Unwritten rules yep um and and in particular about the order that you change when you’re when you’re off the bike there’s there’s a there’s an Unwritten set of rules that if you if you get them wrong when you’re in the elit um that they’re pretty hard on you because as you well know when we’ve got this many when we’ve got a lot of Riders on the track you’re full track um then suddenly uh things can get catastrophic if you get them wrong so you need to be watching the wheel just in front of you but also what’s going on going to stretch this no no they’re all being nice to Sophie Sophie moves up makes it a bit interesting Wheels were just overlap nothing that Sophie did wrong just happened to be that they were overlapped at the time I’d like to see one of these teams put some pressure on the others you know like this could split to bits quite easy we’ve only got 22 laps left Toby throws burer back in yeah as you say we could easily see somebody put pressure on so two laps into the Sprint it’s Matt Davidson missed a change there he should have come down and actually commanded that space out there yeah no you’re right I thought they were sing quite nicely Bernie’s lighting it up yep so Magnus is basically got work to do now David one on his whe followed by the cross boys followed by Sophie Matthew Davidson is out there is doing everything he can to go as slowly as he can just about coming to a track stand so that Sophie he can change as quickly as possi pressure on Bernie so you you look at this here look how hard these guys are fighting to try and get back to them these SC if they they just need to get the pressure on right so meanwhile just out of camera shot so if just throwing Matthew Davidson back into the race he has got work to do get back on terms he’s got no one to draft offs out there up the front seeing the front two teams change quickly so Dan Morton and Toby throwing back into the race Christ Church boys just come from around the set the front for Matthew Davidson he’s about 50 m off about a straight behind trying to come through and catch up let’s see the points so yellow team Toby and Bernard they’re leading on 10 points second is ysd is Magnus and Dan Morton’s team the sort of orangy shirt out there they’re on six and the cross jit Boys on three laser two and Shrek which is the light green they’ve got one point so Matthew Davidson’s got his team back into the bunch Sophie might be Keen I think he might have gone around and not jumped here out that time and she did a double so now he’s doing a double me on the front Dan Morton Magnus change over a little bit of a quick chat between them Pac is off again Bernard’s coming in so Toby will throw Herman to the line now well looks quite Karma controlled compared to what I’m used to seeing for a no one’s really launching the attacks are they M no no they’re not yellow NRS are you know they’ve shown great acceleration from both of them so so both Toby and Bernard have won to Sprint each so at least they you can see that they’re adaptable but I’m I’m surprised that we haven’t seen Magnus or Dan go off the front they may be waiting waiting to see later in the race here when the leagues get a bit more tired obviously gets harder to go and take an entire lap when you’ve only got a few laps left so it’s more getting up the road for the Sprint just the fact I’ve been able to put pressure on other Riders um so three laps to go for the next Sprint burnard Leeds I tell you what they won’t want the yellow n team to win this and um going to get thrown on first they’re going to be hard to peek back mate oh yeah Toby and burnard have rolled this really well so you’re seeing the pace oh he didn’t have enough speed he’s done it all right so Toby’s on the front you can see him up and surge they’re going to come through and get the Bell this time he’s got a little bit of a gap Dan Morton’s basically sitting a few lengths back he’s going to try and close it up got the Cross Church boys just in behind that that’s Oliver Clark in there at the moment Dan throws Magnus in but Toby is Comfortably holding that Gap they haven’t closed it up at all so he’s going to be able to come around and take the Sprint to pick up the points for their team again they have taken all three first places now Magnus second watching Bernie so there we go so we’ve seen the same teams pick up first and second at every one of these Sprints so this then means right that I guess the the ysd team and the orange they must win this yeah and so we sort of G to if they’ve been holding off what’s been going on but yeah all will be revealed in the next eight laps if there’s anything special that we haven’t seen we’ve got a two fastest IP riders in the country in that team um could they be really limited gearing wise like I know you’ve talked that they dropped in gear to be able to make it a harder challenge for them is that potentially you know much more spinny than what they’d normally be out there racing on yeah maybe I don’t know whether perhaps the the world’s coach and and Williams has given him a specific um task to do and and whether he’s looking at the technical aspect of how they ride this as opposed to um brute strength but I would say now now it comes down to brute strength right we all want to win yep um and those two boys love winning so and here we go we got a move coming through I know that’s just Dan coming through to get himself clear to throw Magnus to the race so they touched hand so they didn’t actually miss the change but they didn’t get the benefit of a sling and we’ve seen the Christ Church boys take off so I think that’s Jesse Johnson he’s given a good surge he’s had a look behind set him clear what can I do five laps to go Berard throws Toby in rest of the bunch coming around behind them Sophie doing her absolute best to stay in Magnus has got to make a call how long does he stay there or does he need to come around Matthew Davidson comes down to accelerate Toby needs to rip throws him in but mag still got to Matthew still got a gap to go and close so Toby’s closed the Gap up with that change on the crosstitch boys so let’s see if M let’s see if Dan goes crazy or soft pedals come on Dan there we go come on three wide Round the Corner Who’s got what CH chit Boys still have a little bit of run in the front how much traffic that throws burnard so this is probably the first of the Sprints we’ve seen burnard in it’s work the other away for all the other ones Dan sitting on Burn as well David one on his we know David will finish Fast push high so Dan comes in to throw Magus Bernie push so David One chasing Berner trying to get on the wheel so at the moment we’ve got Magnus they’re in second place that team obviously if they get to 10 at the end here this will give them 19 David one trying to come around he’s not going to so Magnus will take the win for their team David ju will give him second so that will give him 19 and yellow end up with four and so they’ll be on 19 just like the last one but they come second but they’re going to come second we thought they had it all under control for so long won the first three Sprints but just getting third and the fourth is going to unfortunately Bernie just got squeezed on Corner four where he should have he should have actually pushed the rider up higher and just been a little bit more assertive it’s one of those races where you’re going to have a little bit of contact here and there yep bit like the elimination that the guys are used to been just lent on every now and then so no one came down on that one as you say say that Bernie’s just recovering from a crash that he head on the road three weeks ago so it’s good to see him back out there mixing it up yeah they rode very very well actually are all the so the endurance boys are they all second year under 19 know a few of them went last year uh yes all of the second second yep yep so this will all be there their last Junior worlds before moving up hey so
