Hey all,
This weekend I’m embarking on my 1st bikepacking trip, a 300mile loop around the south/ west coast of Wales over 7 days. It’ll all be road, and quite hilly. I’ll be staying at fairly basic/wild style camp sites, fairly near civilization though.
Naturally I’m somewhat apprehensive and concerned about it, and making sure I have what I need.
So here I am asking you all, what are your essentials or best bits of advice you can give me?
My setup so far is as follows
(I ditched the frame bag, as it doesn’t really work well with the bottle cages, even with small bottles)
Topeak bar bag with sleeping bag and sleeping pad
Toptube bag, with riding food and phone
Grab bag full of food and sweets
Tailfin aeropack with my tent, tools and will likely keep some extra water/food/ and things like suncream, chamoix cream
Tailfin paniers with some trainers (I’ll be riding road clipless, which is likely a mistake), spare cycling kit, waterproofs, wet wipes, toothbrush etc. and some other non-cycling clothing
Route is being handled by my Wahoo Roam, and I’ll be taking a power bank with me to keep it charged. Will (hopefully only be cycling in the day, but will have lights with me. Realistically it’ll rain the whole time so I’ll be using them in the day
