So my 5 month old Canyon Lux WC CFR Team died recently – when I was cleaning my bike i noticed two symmetrical cracks on the down tube near the bb. I sent in some photos and eventually, the case was escalated to Germany. About a month later, they asked me to bring my bike in. 10 mins after inspecting it, they said that it was definitely cracked, probably due to a manufacturing defect, and will replace it under warranty. I thought that was nice and was glad they didn’t make any fuss out of it. I was also really relieved they were able to order the replacement frame in the same colour scheme. About 3 weeks later (today), they emailed me and said the bike is ready, however, they noticed a paint chip near the dropout on the replacement frame while rebuilding it, along with some other minor scratches on the left chainstay. They sent me a picture of the damage:

For this, they asked if I would be happy to accept it with a €150 discount. They said it doesn’t seem like structural damage, but if anything were to arise, they would cover it under warranty.

From your experience, does this look like structural damage? I guess for this to have happened on a brand-new frame, someone had to have dropped it from a fair amount of height.

If it’s just cosmetic I can live with it, and if it’s structural they should replace the frame (again). I really wanted this bike in this colour to match my Aeroad, so it would be a dealbreaker if further down the line some issues pop up and they cannot get the frame in the same colour scheme anymore. So far my experience with Canyon’s customer service has been excellent, the communication has been quite attentive and transparent, and the guys at the shop (in Eindhoven, NL) have been very friendly as well.

And just for reference the original cracked frame they warrantied: [https://imgur.com/a/wtZmTyC](https://imgur.com/a/wtZmTyC)
