6 months ago I bought a bike 9 months later I will be cycling over 300 miles in in a week raise money for charity never really seriously cycled before that the way Malcolm died it’s not like uh you were expecting it he was 55 um probably fitter than me uh he was certainly a better footballer than me and uh it was total shock uh to get the phone call on that Sunday morning to say that uh that he’d been found dead on the kitchen floor um it’s a numbness um and it’s having to be the bearer of bad news to horrific news to to my mother who was at that time getting ready to go out for for lunch with him and for her to know that she wouldn’t see him again it’s coming up to 10 years on the 27th of July uh 2014 so I thought what a good idea would be to raise some some money in memory of Malcolm well I’ve taken challenges before having walked the pire coastal path which is 187 mil long did it in a in about a week so that was 20 plus miles a day not so many years ago I did uh 3,000 uh setups in a month for the Royal Mars and Children’s Hospital raising money for charity whilst I don’t do it every year it’s it’s something that’s not alien uh to me uh I asked one of my colleagues Chloe whether she would uh do the ride with me so she’s coming down from from the Northeast I’m raising money for the British Heart Foundation Chloe’s raising money for diabetes UK and the air ambulance they saved her father he had a serious cycling injury and things could have been an awful lot worse than what what they were had they not been there what we’re looking to do will be some somewhere around 50 60 miles a day Sinclair’s here to uh via kamaran uh Sandy uh hopefully make new bridge on y for those for the first overnight stay we climb up to approximately about a, foot between there and Newtown before we drop down to to Newtown then we’re on the the seven Valley Plains for one of a better word so we’re following the river 7 uh towards Welsh pool and then we Veer off towards osw Street which will which will be our second night State we wave whals goodbye and we go towards uh middle witch nwit and we go east of Manchester then heading up towards Skipton harate Darlington and uh walls end um on the seventh day so uh yeah and that’ll be a nice feeling when we get up there and it’ll be emotional at the end as well I’m pretty sure um there will be some emotion from doing it for my brother doing it for the charity just the emotion of achieving getting there that’s that will be uh something in in itself I I I believe in myself completely here I wouldn’t be doing it otherwise as it’s now the 26th of June we start our journey on Saturday morning the 14th of September so it’s less than three months less 3 months it will fly it will fly
