what we do here just go back back back back back [Music] this summer George Marty and I lead to South Africa with school on rugby tour whilst we were there we were lucky enough to visit the hookah duck trust and engage with their path I to poverty program the program aims to empower the children in rural areas of the Western Cape of South Africa giving them the abilities to lift themselves and their families ID to poverty which they have been trapped in for many generations the effects of poverty include poor and overcrowded accommodation illiteracy high rates of school dropouts alcoholism violence children born with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder a lack of skills among young people and shockingly high rates of tuberculosis the vision of the path out of poverty program seeks to transform rural communities by offering the next generation of children the opportunity to become healthy self-confident educated young people able to take up leadership roles in their own communities to achieve this the program concentrates simply on three areas education doing whatever it takes to prepare a child for school get them into school and then keep them now help combating hunger by ensuring that all children have a nutritious meal daily as well as showing children and parents what they can do to improve their own physical and emotional health and personal development teaching good manners and sound values as well as teaching children to be mindful of others to take responsibility to discover who they are and to grow in confidence interacting with the children in the program we really gained an understanding of this stoning impact the trust is having upon the community returning to the UK we’ve decided we want to do something to support the hookah actress so this October we’re completing a 450 kilometres cycle across the width of Ireland and back over four days this will be a tough challenge and we’d be really grateful if you could help a site by visiting our fundraising page at Virgin Money Giving calm / popcicle and giving what you can to grow peace the UK arm of the hookah duck trust will pass on all fund to the path out of poverty program in South Africa [Music] you
