all right guys welcome back finally it’s time to start cycling again and uh i’ve been here for a week now and uh waiting for the cassette that really dragged out on the time but now the bike is all serviced a new chain new cassette uh i mean he went over the whole bike new brake pads everything so it’s just a completely different bike now it’s when it’s all working again so really happy with that i’m really excited to go again uh cycling so uh we’re about uh 120 kilometers from the zambian border so i will try to reach that today maybe i could cross it would be a really nice start uh we will see about pcr tests and how it works by the border though so all right let’s go [Applause] uh i’ve been eating i’ve been drinking i met some locals we had a night out i had some good fun but uh yeah the last couple of days i’ve really just been waiting which has been a little frustrating you know hello it’s not mozungo here it’s azunga let’s have a little break ah bread it’s always so much bread nice cookies but we’re gonna have some jam now it’s just shining and a new cassette new chain your brake pads and even i got a new haircut or at least i cut my hair [Music] i bought this like 40 and it’s thick as hell but i’m seems to be burning anyway my skin is burning i can see it i don’t know if you can see and it turns like reddish and you see how much i applied it doesn’t like doesn’t go in really you see but i can feel it burning and i don’t like to see those rashes on the skin from the sun so i need to put on again at least my long sleeve is going on now and i will cycle with my shorts very long down today today and maybe tomorrow i will see if i have to cycle with the long johns or if i can modify them or something because uh yeah it’s really hot as well it’s be really nice and t-shirt and shorts so we’re getting close to the border now and uh i’m just not sure about this border with a pcr or or no pcr or so we will have to go there and see i’ve heard about people they can just they went just straight through without pcr that they are more shield with that in zambia so yeah we will go there and try see hey yes yes some runners [Applause] we are in zombies yeah we crossed the border uh wow interesting i’ll tell you more tell you more about it when we leave the busy area here look at that look at that view yeah so uh yeah that was went pretty smooth actually i had to do the p no not a pcr it was a rapid test or something which uh was a hundred dollars but uh yeah i paid 32. and uh i thought that zambia visa was 50 but apparently it was just 25 which surprised me last time i was here 10 years ago it was 50. but uh yeah and of course they didn’t have change on 30 dollars so i had to give them 30. but yeah yeah yeah we’re gonna continue try to reach chipotle which is the first city here where i will buy a sim card i will need some more money and we will sleep there somewhere and then tomorrow we will continue ah look at it on this road which is called the great east road and it goes to uh lusaka the capital of zambia which is about 600 kilometers away yeah that’s the plan for the next coming five or six days oh zombie i love you already so nice of them not to put the speed bumps all the way is so the rain came so we’re gonna eat something i’m really hungry so we’re almost in the city we’re gonna find somewhere to sleep as soon as possible because it’s not safe to cycle at night [Music] oh it’s getting wet with yeah and the lightning and the thunder it’s coming now [Music] not good and also where to sleep what is this hotel country hotel [Music] [Applause] come on hello oh yeah [Applause] finally inside what a crazy day it was a great day it just happened a lot but uh yeah we crossed the border it went smooth we cycled a lot i mean yeah we cycle in the dark in the rain [Music] yeah not not the best thing to do but i took the first hotel i could find and yeah this is the rainy season so it’s really hot during the day and then when it gets like afternoon like five six or something then just the the heavens just open up and there’s always a thunderstorm and a lot of thunder so it’s going to be like this now but hey i’m going to have a warm shower and then i’m going to cook something so yeah [Applause] all right first day proper day cycling in zambia and we need to find an atm and we also need to find and buy a sim card and damn look at these nice cycling pads i mean even for pedestrians there’s a there’s one and even for cyclists there’s one i’m very protected here as well very nice very very nice [Music] not far away from here like 150 kilometers or something it’s one of zambia’s most famous uh if not the most famous and best national park which is south luanga national park which i would really like to visit but at the moment it’s not really the best season to go there and i already have a really really nice safari plan for botswana which is going to be amazing so this time i have to skip south luanga i’ll have to keep i’ll have to save that one for some other time hello a heavy rainfall and this is just half of it but hopefully we’ll go over here another dog on the road i’ve seen a lot of animals road killed on this trip for sure so i have a small leak or something in the tire that makes it really soft and uh i left my other pump my big bulky pump in lilongwe because i got this one small and light should fit the presta valve but it doesn’t yeah just get so tired okay so i can still cycle on the tire it’s not completely flat [Applause] but uh we’re gonna go into this uh town i think it’s called and uh we need to find a proper pump again okay so we got a new pump fit thanks a lot man yeah so smells like popcorn [Music] [Music] yeah so i did have another puncture all right so we found a lodge uh bike is sorted the puncture is fixed i found a pump feels damn good um the usual we’re gonna eat something and then we’re gonna sleep and then tomorrow we’re gonna do some more cycling because that’s what i do alright see you tomorrow we’re having an early start i mean early seven o’clock circling out of catete on the great east road which sure is a great road and some beautiful landscape and very very friendly people as usual along the road i think actually the zambians are stepping it up in friendliness a little bit but i think i thought that i would give you some information about zambia and they have a population about 19 million now and now the 39th biggest country in the world and back in the days together with zimbabwe this area was called by the british south african company zambia would be the northern rhodesia and zimbabwe would be southern hello so how much is one mouse mouse yeah one yeah no how much is it how many how many quattro ten quarters okay and they just eat like this okay thank you very much for showing me yeah [Music] snacks along the road and also of course [Music] i’m not going too fast yes we’re back with nutella or at least nutella ish 398 to lusaka maybe we’ll try to reach so distance on this nice road hello i think they wonder why i’m cycling like this well let’s get you can you can always get different reactions from people when you’re bringing out the camera that’s why i don’t usually bring it out of people’s faces you know hello hello hello what a day i’m not sure how many kilometers that was but i think it was something 150 and i was a little bit tired in the end but uh i wanted to do a big day and i did and now it’s like four o’clock and i’m gonna stay here and uh yeah i’m gonna go for some food and uh yeah rest my legs i guess what a nice morning it’s a good temperature very quiet you can hear the birds chirping remind yourself that you’re in africa cycling i’m gonna try to reach luanga i think it’s supposed to be bridge which is uh yes you saw 100 kilometers away and from there it’s gonna be very much uphill so we will see if we stop there for the day or if we try to make some progress on that hill because the thought of starting the day on the bottom of a big mountain like 700 meters i think it doesn’t sound fun there’s definitely a lot of up and down now deep climb sleep downhill i’m fine how are you sound fine how are you hello i’m fine how are you [Music] hey [Music] [Music] so over there we can actually see mozambique because that’s how close i am to the border of mozambique in the northern parts of mozambique so i’m just cycling almost alongside of this this border i mean there’s no really no border just here in this area i think not for many kilometers but that’s still mozambique so at least we’ve seen it we’re not gonna enter it but we’ve seen it [Music] do [Music] do [Music] this heat is really the what’s killing you when cycling it’s really tough uh [Music] okay here it is river and one more bridge hello so so um [Music] [Music] yeah finally arrived at the campsite and today was hot very hot day and a lot of uphill a lot of up here steep steep but yeah i arrived at this campsite they also have some chilis here my bike you can see here also it’s pretty nice place you have the luanga river here and on the other side it’s mozambique and apparently they have some huge crocodiles here as well not that i see any now but but yeah look at the river so all of this you see here that’s mozambique ah pretty nice all right oh don’t fall in the pool alright guys see you tomorrow [Music] yeah you’re seeing right i’m gonna take a taxi up uh the worst uh [Music] the worst uh uphills today because i really don’t feel like it today and it’s really really hot and my my legs are tired so yeah i’m gonna take this taxi for about 50 kilometers i think and uh that will like take out the worst of the uphills i think at least some of it all right back in the saddle and i cheated my way out of uh like 1300 height meters but uh yeah it really didn’t feel like doing 1300 height meters today because it’s uh i’m still gonna do like 800 more today so yeah glad for that and let’s continue so some photos for you hello like almost every controller you just go straight through and just wave and say hi see if we can eat something this here [Music] lazy lazy [Music] you just call it chinese [Music] oh foreign oh all right so i just left uh shanghai and uh lusaka is not far away it’s only 40 kilometers away so it’s a short day of cycling today and uh i will stay a couple of days in lusaka editing video uh i need to check with the bike mechanic to see if he can look at my gears because one of the gears is not working at all just jumping jumping that’s quite annoying [Applause] all right so we arrived in lusaka i’m gonna stay at this backpackers place for probably three nights i think so i’m going to edit the video here and upload for you guys so please if you like the video like and subscribe as usual and leave a comment i always read them

  1. Great to see you cycling again and really enjoyed your latest video and missed your weekly update last week. I've also just watched Algirdas latest video as well.

  2. After a very long break it was nice to see you again on the road. Are you sure that these offered animals were mice? Maybe they looked more like rats? I could never eat that….

  3. Such mini/micro pumps with only one hole 99% has reversible valve inside to fit all the valves. You just open it up, reverse the rubber inside and screw cover back. To avoid pump switching, you can always buy some Presta adapters.

  4. Lol Chelsea dude grabbed himself a bargin with you mini pump as the guy before me said it has a reversable valve adaptor 😁 nice to see the drome shots thanks. A pity you not crossing into Zim at Chirundu on the Zambezi vist Mana Pools National park where you can walk with the wildlife and ride up the Zambezi valley to Kariba but hey cant do it all. Maybe you cross into Zim at Vic Falls ride the short route up to caprivi where you can enter Botswana? Vic falls is best veiwed from Zim side 😁 whats your planned route ?

  5. As someone has said below, the heads of the mini pumps are reversible, but you are much better off with a big pump/ track pump. Take all day with a mini pump and big tyres, and you won't get the pressure. πŸ™‚ I'm surprised that you didn't buy a mouse to chew or suck on as you rode. πŸ™‚ Between two slices of bread, would have made a nice lunch. πŸ™‚ (Yuk!)

  6. Hi Patrick, hope you are well. I have been following you for a couple of months, great adventures you are passing through. I would like to ask if there was any special reason for you not to cycle in Mozambique, or it was just out of your planned route. Just Portuguese curiosity regarding an ex colony. Cheers mate

  7. I had a similiar pump on the road (and similar problem), until some guy showed me how it works. I do think, it'll fit, just need to unscrew it and turn around the gummy thing inside.
But we will never know, since you don't have it anymore πŸ˜€

  8. And the adventure continues… great to have you back and thanks again for taking us all with you. We're getting a real snapshot of daily life in all the places you visit, the world is a truly wondrous place, even with all the ups and downs. Thank you Patrick and take care!

  9. 2:09. WOW! Look at that amazingly clean cassette!
5:07. That happy smile at being in a new country. =)
The view is amazing!

A great deal on the test and visa.

8:20. Yikes! Scary cycling in rain, thunder, and very dark! So glad you were able to get safely into the hotel.Β
18:05. HOLY TOLEDO! Oh my goodness. I thought they were flowers or something at first, but NOPE.
Her hand movement when she said β€œten”. That’s the local hand signal for ten?

18:50 Oh my gosh those kids are so dang cute!
    154K. Wow, long day!

23:05. Beautiful view! And nice downhill. =)

24:50. I love that music. What is it?
30:44. Great idea! 9000+ feet of climbing would have been brutal! You had a bunch of climbing even so!
The big smile on the downhills. The not-smile on the hot uphills. Yep. Makes absolute sense.
I hope your got your gears fixed. So annoying when they don’t work as they should.

    Great video as always.

Du gir dem oppmerksomhetπŸ‘ Takker for at du deler….😊

  11. Om pumpen bara har en sida pΓ₯ huvudet brukar det ofta vara mΓΆjligt att skruva av locket och vΓ€nda pΓ₯ innandΓΆmet, sΓ₯ det blir antingen Schrader eller Presta.

  12. I enjoy your journey plenty much. Thanks .
From hindsight, would you rather have taken a chain, cassette, brake pads, some spokes and cables from the start?
Or was it better to order it online, somewhere halfway? (including a maintanance book)
Or was it good the way it went and solve the problems when they appear?
(Everybody learn most from their own mistakes, but sometimes it's better to learn from others.)
