The driver of the Honda Jazz almost cut across my path in the cycle lane. I was braced for a collision, but fortunately the driver saw me at the last minute, at which point they were already in the cycle lane. As a result of my complaint to the police, the driver was sent a letter warning them that future allegations may result in prosecution if their driving does not sufficiently improve to avoid such complaints.

This happens a lot here, at the junction of London Road and Highfield Street, in Leicester UK.

Rule H3 of the Highway Code: You should not cut across cyclists, horse riders or horse drawn vehicles going ahead when you are turning into or out of a junction or changing direction or lane, just as you would not turn across the path of another motor vehicle.
