to put the the athletes who did it in a really in good position so I see some uh French people passing please come yeah uh why are you here what is your ro ro is uh okay so he did the aquon yesterday and now he’s coming to encourage all the other people and he liked it how is kimra oh he did the second place do you like the location the venue I see he’s not alone okay first impression from two participant of yesterday uh they did the aquatan the aquat was uh really great and now they are going to to meet some colleagues who just did the middle distance and I mean it’s uh something quite impressive to see the the family spirit that we get uh in this race I I’ve seeing an athlete uh I’m trying to get the interview of uh so I’m I’m I’m calling uh someone who just finished the race uh how was it today it was good um quite enjoyed it I’m from Scotland so it it’s a bit hotter today but there was plenty Aid stations and managed to keep the pace running along fairly well so it was all good yes how was it was it uh any difficulties the in the water I saw I saw that I mean this is a river you have the stream at one point does it play a role or not at all not particularly it was just a case exciting very well keeping an eye on the boys and looking to draft where you can In The Swim because that’s legal and just trying to keep consistent and thinking of a good stroke and being efficient because after the swim there’s still a long way to go yeah are you did you do another race this week or did you do only that one yeah just this one I saved it for this one and uh I mean in terms of organization what is your impression is it a good location should should we come again or not yeah definitely I would say it’s very well organized plant a stations and the traffic management and so on was very very good so very impressed all around enjoyed it and come back again definitely okay thanks a lot do you want to come and say a few words so hi uh what’s your name my name is Derek Ho I’m for Scotland okay Scotland again so big delegation from Scotland yes there is there’s a few of us not as many as English and uh yeah what what did you do this week um I done the cross Triathlon and the aquathon oh cool and uh what are your impression of this kind of new way to do a cross uh it was good I enjoyed it it was the first time I’ve done an urban cross I was doing had a good swim I was well up on the bike and I got a puncture at about 10K so that really ruined my race but you know I still enjoyed it I pushed hard to the end so I really enjoyed it and and a lovely Challenge and run as well in a beautiful city and what about you can cross what about the the urban cross is it interesting from some one coming from Scotland used to the nature probably I come from the Swiss Alps um Urban is there any interest any future on that absolutely I mean it’s a beautiful place to come to it’s a beautiful city uh very friendly nice people lovely food and a great beer great beer great beer okay you so if we would you recommend that we come again here or absolutely I would come back if they had an event here I would definitely come back again yes yes thoroughly enjoyed it I I’ve enjoyed the whole event very well organized and very informative keeping you up to date with changes we’re making and lovely River to swim in as well okay wonderful thanks a lot thank you okay so we are trying to grab uh the people as they they pass by so I see still a bunch of guys there on the other side I see that Mikel the CEO of Europe traton is here so I will ask him to to to come around and uh to give some impression so Mikel from you’re the CEO of Europe triathon coming now to these multisport championships what are your impressions first hello everyone I’d like to say that is it’s great to be here KRA it’s a great City and it’s a perfect venue to organize such um H exciting event which involve many different races many different type of athlets and uh I think that is um is a great experience for for us for the athlet for the families and we look forward you know to maybe to come back here for for another event okay uh what are your impressions in term of participation are you are you happy uh do you do you have the impression the participants are are happy here we are very impressed with the number of participation and uh we have also very positive feedback from from them they really enjoy the the venue the track especially the the cross Trion cross duon Tru that was uh for the first time an urban track so mix in the forest in the the city um downtown and they really enjoyed that that part and uh so we have very excited and think about you know to do that again wait I I take the opportunity of having an athlete you just finished the race yes my English it’s not good you can answer in Portuguese okay how was [Music] it yeah and uh come I mean you you are a lot of Portuguese athletes here uh doing the the race today is it a team race or is it a fight uh it is it a fight B of fight because we know each other from the national championships but uh uh better than that we we support each other is KRA a good place for that yeah yes it’s a great place why uh because it has all the the great condition to to make a a great race the venue the people the city all the combo is perfect I’m the best race I have you can say Portuguese because from Port [Music] do you think Portugal can be and can have the level of England one if we um I think in England they have more condition uh because of the yeah uh they they have more um more materials uh the conditions the the technical conditions are great in England yeah and uh but do you feel the spirit of port in Portuguese do you feel the spirit of the national team here thank you and uh your star oh a winner hello the Championships [Music] [Music] okay I see now that we have RI the president of Europe Tron let’s try and find out Renato please come let’s try and find out what are the Impressions uh from uh the Europe triathon board what do you think is is it a good location is there any good spirit what are your impressions well my impression are very very positive I saw so many smiling faces around us so overall I think is a great success regarding the location I think it’s perfect we have a huge park there is a lot of space so there is a lot of room for the athletes to uh warm up and then to uh recover after after the race the weather fantastic today so I noticed that all the people I was speaking to sometime you they say okay I’m happy I won but uh okay it’s just one event now everybody wants to come back uh is is there anything special here in coimbra well our goal as the organizer of this type of event we are so pleased about this attitude of the athletes our goal is to put together all the athletes coming from the different part of Europe so that they can they can compete and they can represent first of all their country and I realize looking at the Tre suit that they all have very nice very proud of wearing them it means that Z we we are getting there yeah I I see that here we have someone where with from Great Britain with the British flag is the Nation playing a role in those type of event yes the Federation is playing a role Great Britain is is doing Brantly they are doing that since years uh some other Federation are struggling but the number of athletes and the number of national Federation getting to our European Championship is steadily increasing we had uh we have here 35 National Federation and that is a great number if you consider that we have a 48 National Federation in Europe so that is there a future for those type of events why would you go here and not to do an Iron Man well uh I have been doing several ironment in the past uh now what I realize that is a strong point to leverage on is the proud to represent your country you get to the podium you can play the atem you can hear and you can be proud to have the national atem play for your country and I think that this is priceless okay why in Iron Man you just compete for your name for your own family and that’s it so we will ask uh um a British athlete come uh what do you think what was your impression um yeah the was race went really well it was um a good course I absolutely loved the swim had phenomenal phenomenal swim for me and then the bike I hadn’t wrecked the course so didn’t really know what it was going to be like but it was a good yeah a good bike course and really enjoyed it and then run was hard how many people from Great Britain were here with you I don’t actually know but there’s a lot of us here I know that all of my age group apart from one are British and I think we’re probably the biggest team here so and uh I mean is there any interest to come again to to Kimbra is it a cool place to do a Tron or do you you find it too difficult or um I think when I first got here and there was a lot of traffic in the road works I was a bit nervous but on the course today it was actually really good I really enjoyed it so I would come back okay thanks a lot and what is your next International race um I’m going to Australia for the um world multiport champs yeah and uh did you do any other race uh during this week no no okay this was quite enough thanks a lot and congratulations thank you thank you yeah so a lot of people around but not everybody willing to come in front of the camera I think he would if we would have uh the the camera ah I have someone from Spain hello how are you fine thanks so how was it today h good good I I did a good race for me and I could enter to the to the Finish Line first so I’m very happy and what is the impression I mean uh in this place place is it a cool place for TR yes I like it very much I have never been in in Portugal and also in coimbra so I like the city I like the the surroundings the bike course and also the running it was it was fine all the all the ciruit yeah and uh the about the national team I mean you’re a neighbor so it’s not that long for you to come here did you feel the the Spanish because I was watching following the race a lot of people from Spain doing extremely good results yes yes yes yes there was a lot of a lot of people for from Spain H we are neighbors so the distance is is short and H A lot of people has come and we are here H enjoying the triathlon did you uh notice I mean uh did you have the time to watch other the races during uh this week or not H I arrived here on Tuesday so I only saw yesterday the aquathlon and today it was my race so I Only Could See the the the aquatron race what is your impression about the the spirit of the multi sport is it something we should keep on doing or not oh yeah I like it very much uh there is a lot of races in one week so H the city can have a lot of people moving and it’s also positive for for the the shops here in coimbra from all the people from coimbra to to know a little bit more of a of a new sport like like triatlon so I think that is so positive to to coimbra and to Portugal also okay so thanks a lot and congratulation again thanks to you thank you I’m trying to see there a group of people did you do okay okay okay [Music] okay okay uh you are his uh family say something to the camera did you come with him yes yes you’re the family it’s my boyfriend okay and what is your impression of uh this Championship you can say in Spanish ah okay perfect okay so you see now that we have the national team you can stay you can stay come here yeah national team of Portugal so you can speak Portuguese uh if you prefer my Portuguese is very bad but I understand a bit how was it so you all have the the gold medal so yeah yeah yeah yeah very very very much uh very very good result yeah and who are you my mother and [Music] happy where where are you from in Portugal um I’m from alip and near Lisbon ah okay and uh you knew the place already or not yes I did the race last year okay and and um this year it’s a little bit uh better uh because the course is different and I enjoy uh more like this year is it a place we have to come back tobra or not yes of course it’s amazing and a beautiful place yeah okay and how did you which one did you do I did the same race I was I am in the let me see where the tat is which is not here anymore yes here from the24 age group and apparently there were only was uh two of us so I won the age group but as as they mentioned it was very good um it’s a race that we already familiar with because uh it has been in Portugal for I would say four years but it’s a very different atmosphere with all the people here coming from a is it good to have all those people from abroad or is it boring is it a good atmosphere would you say okay come from your German come here I would say at least for us Portuguese I would say it’s good because if we only want to compete with the Portuguese we already have those races so it’s good that in our country with um a different environment it’s good that all people come together and in some way that uh we all uh grw up the the sport in our country as well with all those people coming to the city and at least in a more uh I would say not rural area but at least not in the big cities like Lisbon in Porto I think it’s also very good for the city as well to have different people and I would say uh around 1 to 2,000 people coming here for the for the weekend and the whole week before did you have a chance to see the cross Triathlon uh no actually I only came yesterday a bit late so I didn’t have the chance to see the other race did did you hear that they they did race in the city with the bike course I is it good or it’s a bad idea very very nice pictures yeah but I heard I I spoke to someone that did and they said it was great but even though there was no big mountains or anything but the cross in the city was actually amazing because of the the surface and all that created some some difficulty and and should we do is it kind of more fun more pleasure if we have everybody all the races in the same place or is it not a good idea is is the festival a good option or not no I think it’s a great idea because uh that way you’ll have people from different races supporting people from the other races so I think it’s a great idea honestly yeah and you also have the plus that different people from different sports going on at the same time cheer for each other because at least we were on the run and there was at least some people on the on the bike and they all push for us and for the portugali also very good that’s that’s great I mean I I see there behind you you’re a star and this is really the the feeling I’m having your all stars today thank you very much so congratulation and really well done for all the success thank you hey I I’m scared I have uh another type of team now so how was it hot hot’s my best word for it yeah uh brilliant race very very hot on the Run yeah and uh the how was the swim the swim was lovely I had a really good swim I think what I noticed most about the swim is how clean the water was lovely lovely clean River uh so yeah absolute pleasure to swimming yeah I mean we are all talking about the cleanness of the water among Europe I mean we are really taking care of that I mean in Europe Tron we’re working hard to get the things is it something that worries you yeah well in Britain we’re not as good as you are uh there is um I don’t want to get too political there’s a problem with our water supply uh so we struggle to find clean places to swim in Open Water to train in but uh yeah no such worries here yeah did you feel the stream no no I didn’t um I’d heard talk of it beforehand and we watched the uh the cross trth on Summers and thought there might have been a little bit of a current but I I don’t I don’t think they affected me at all today no this is the impression I had from behind the the camera but uh I mean a lot of British people you were here for a while how was the the other races any interesting highlights yeah so watching the cross try I thought it’s the first time I’ve seen that uh and it was a bit surreal seeing people go on road and grass on mountain bikes but then when you saw them hit that Hill yeah that was like yeah fair enough I I understand this now this isn’t just Parry Ruby on mountain bikes this is hard well done and the down in the middle of the street I mean I was so jealous yeah it was it was really interesting to watch I mean I have a mountain bike I don’t think I’m that skillful though certainly not something my club uh caters for yet okay and uh did you feel the the support of the people around oh absolutely I’ve traveled here with with four from my club so we’re all Royal Marines and Royal Navy triathletes families are here but it’s not just the people we know the GB supporters it’s every single person that’s that’s lining the street seems to be sh for GB every time you go past I don’t know if the Portuguese have picked us as well but you know no no they I I’ve been speaking with some Portuguese people and they were really in uh being encourag and and we see now that we have a British supporter can you come here it was fantastic what was your role here um morau keep keep the morau high okay and support my friend okay and why are you Incognito because they all know you or no just because this is the outfit okay uh did you do a race or you’re only here to support only here to support I came in flew in yesterday last night I got here about half 8 and I’ll fly out tomorrow morning only here for today’s race incred and I mean thank you so much you’re bringing the flavor of the real mood that we are trying to build here and I think it’s building a mood no 100% he made me smile every time I ran past him and I was hanging out so yeah that good job how did you feel about seeing supporters like that do you have anybody like that in Italy yeah I mean he supports me as well because I live in London so a bit a bit of uh support from him like really affects me as you did travel with the British team or with the Italian no with the Italian friends yes yeah yeah yeah yeah uh currently live in London I have a team though in Italy uh did a few races in in UK as well uh I mean the trial scene probably is uh huge compared to um to Italy uh but we try to do our best to represent our country as well yeah and do you feel with the Italian group like the British I mean he was watching some of other races uh du this spirit this nation uh nationality thing or not uh I mean yes I mean um there’s you know WhatsApp group uh we text each other um when when we see each other you know even we’re if we’re less and they outnumber us as as soon as we see someone see like there’s a there’s a friend of us there um as soon as we see each other we just like go hey hi doing uh CH what would you say to someone not daring to come uh to come man enjoy it is it too difficult or is it feasible I’m not talking about the middle distance but we had other races oh yeah no of course I guess money is quite can be a problem sometimes because you need to pay yourself uh but guess um I mean I mean the group that teamgb is growing it’s you know builds the morale the more people you see that ATT tender the races the more uh shows you that you can actually do that too you know and um I think we we need to build that as well in Ealy um I we’ll try we’ll try to do that I think this is the spirit we want to get no I think it’s great you’re a team you’re coming together you wear the flag I mean uh it’s a great and unique experience oh yeah of course of course yes and thanks a lot and uh thank you very much for everything okay so uh I see I have uh someone coming from Greece yes when did you arrive uh what when did you arrive yes I arrive and on H Thursday yeah and first time here in Portugal and first time in this event and uh I’m very happy to representing gree and I I the race was so beautiful and so hot it was a challenge today but uh it was a good race for me I came in the second place in my age group so I think is it leaves me a good uh feeling this what type of race do you usually do are you doing races uh uh in greas or you go around the world what do you do yes I used to to race in the long distance Triathlon but and the middle distance I think this is my race the middle distance but I used to to participate in the cycling race because they love cycling yes and uh what is special about coimbra what would you say to someone who was not here why should this person come here ER I think the place is beautiful H the kibra is a I think is a place to be in holidays yes H the people are great uh yes why not I love gobra did you have other people did you meet other people from Greece yes of course H I came here um with my husband but uh here it was a I think two two Greek person H one H that H participate in junior um group and the other one in the age group on 30 35 one man okay yes he came I think first yesterday in aason okay oh that’s great okay thank you very much thank you thank you hey hello so how was it well this was fantastic race for me uh this is my first time in ital in Portugal sorry uh first time on Portugal first time on European Championship so I so excited uh I achieve my personal best uh so wow fantastic day many people from Poland or not uh yes around uh in all thises around uh 40 40 I think yes we have Fantastic Team uh fantastic uh team manager so that’s wonderful you had quite a lot of races in Poland I’ve been to jof a few weeks ago why is Poland so Dynamic at the moment um I don’t know this is uh U we have a weak uh football player so we find another Sport and uh yes we train in triatlon uh and we have a lot of competition uh we have European championship in atin and yeah it was very good uh for Race So when is the next World Champion coming from Poland or the next next Olympic champion coming from Poland uh I I don’t know I mean congratulation and thanks a lot thank you very much okay bye-bye bye huh hello do you speak uh English or in Spanish a little bit spish you can speak Spanish I speak English okay because I understand but I I don’t speak so par in this course was it good or any interest for you any interest of course yes we are happy European Champion we are happy because we are gold medal so very happy yeah yes and is kimra anything special uh what do you think of the place I mean is it a good spirit a good team or well the place is really nice and well in triatlon the all the all the people is happy and everybody H try to to support you support organization is quite good but also that Leets that say to you force force and it’s very nice very nice yes yeah I mean this is uh this is incredible I saw that there was really this team spirit and uh I mean do you feel it when you’re here with the team yeah yeah yeah we feel it yeah and a lot of people from Spain it’s a neighbor country do you feel close close so it’s easy for us to come here and so is a reason because there are a lot of Spanish people competing here yeah on a middle distance like that I mean with the guide and the athlete together in the water is it difficult or is it uh anything special because shorter distance is sometime easier to read it’s quite difficult it’s quite difficult you need to be very synchronized when you are swimming and just uh in in fact we have a problem in the aquathlon because uh we have a problem with the rope that uh link together and we we were dis disqualified because of that no yeah yeah so we need to swim very very synchronized at the same time all the time I’m I’m trying to guide him because I see all the the boys and and and so on but it’s difficult it’s really and uh and and really now that there is a bit of stream I remember I don’t know if you did Alandra in in Portugal uh but in Alandra in Portugal the the stream is very difficult I mean for you it must be it must be tough what how do you work as the athlete against the Stream the current when you’re streaming again the current oh is is is more complicated no but uh it’s for everybody so but if you if you go to people in the same time I have this arm very damaged because you’re very close so boom boom really I mean you you will be able to to race for two categories then yes visual after they raise another disabl yes okay so thanks a lot and uh congratulations for coming thank you very much thank you hello how was it oh it was long it was very long but it was great fun it’s a lovely course and the swim was just gorgeous under the bridge I really enjoyed it uh when did you start what time oh it was oh just a tiny bit after half N I tried to sneak in at the front of the swimmers I wanted to get out in the course before it got crowded and before it got hot but it was a lovely lovely day I was here at uh I don’t know 6:30 and for to watch the first starts at 7 something 7:30 it was quite cold was it cold in the water oh no the water was lovely I went in yesterday without my wet suit and it was really clean and fresh and it was just right so today with the wet suit it was an absolute pleasure I’ve heard that I mean people are saying I mean it’s a great location what do you think I think it’s a great location I hope there’s uh other European and indeed worlds here in the future it be great it’s easy to get to we’re here for the weekend and we’re going to have a really good night tonight so I love it here did you watch a few other races before uh yeah we saw the pros go off earlier which is always a treat and we saw the Paras which was amazing as well and I saw some of the on yesterday the under 23s they’re always really really wonderful to watch I mean it’s just great it’s just great so uh thank you so much for hosting us we’re really really appreciate now thank you see all the best thank you bye bye okay okay I see uh I see other people and uh I have the impression I recognize the flag uh how was it uh it was a great race yes thank you uh it’s a beautiful Ambiance uh I I love the place and and I love also the the people because they are very friendly it’s it’s a bit different to Iron Man races I think it’s it’s friendlier and everybody everybody is happy and cheering is it important how many Swiss were you uh racing actually I don’t know because we don’t have an official delegation so I I didn’t count every age group I I saw just a few of of Switzerland so not many I guess and uh I mean would do what should we say to uh the Swiss uh guys to why should come to such a an event well I’ve never been to coimbra and actually when I saw the place I W I was very pleased it’s so beautiful around and I arrived Wednesday and I just enjoyed the place the nature the the river swimming in it and and also the the city it’s it’s beautiful so it’s very nice place and uh do you think I mean uh this is those type of event bring another value than Iron Man or something like that uh well what I f is just the week before when I stood here everyone was was laughing everyone was smiling at me and I said I I thought it’s just it’s not that that kind of of uh just only thinking about the race it’s just friendlier and that I really like this so yes yeah this is a family Spirit definitely yes because uh I do the sport just to have fun and um it’s a hobby it’s so I want to have fun and I’m rather uh be friendly with others than only pushing and okay so feel dunk cheers so mik is finding me a new guest and uh okay hi how was it what did you do here today it’s not the normal Trion outfit no it’s not I’ve not been running a race I’ve been supporting so um I’ve been supporting my brother with wife and so we’ve had a brilliant experience running all around the court with a flag cowbell shouting um three athletes from Tri Works Edinburgh um so it’s been just a great experience had a brilliant time and and is there anything special in those type of events or not yeah I mean I think they work so hard they train really hard um it’s a real Focus it’s really like keeping fit competing and people coming together it’s you know really good experience nice to be part of it as a supporter I have the impression that there is kind of a family Spirit if we watch now all the things I mean you see a blend of Nations uh people res supporting I mean the message I have the impression the message is very positive yeah and supporting everybody doesn’t matter what country people are from just you know keeping everybody going it’s a really grueling race so it’s great just to you know just cheer everyone on I know it makes a big difference to their motivation so yeah we we have behind us it’s written everywhere you’re a star do you have the impression they feel like that I think they’re quite tired at the end but I think the because there’s so much support from everybody they feel quite special so they are a star everybody’s worked hard yeah and and I think they really deserve this recognition oh definitely yeah which is why so many families come you know just to get into the spirit of it um and I know my brother says that if we’re here supporting then it makes a huge difference he looks for us and we cheer them on um so yeah it’s good it’s really good experience as a supporter and as a competitor as well I think I mean thanks a lot for taking the time and sharing your your opinion and for supporting everybody thank you thank you hey how was it it was good thank you yeah very tough did you enjoy it I mean uh is the is the the suffering worse coming to here oh definitely um coin is really nice and the bike was really fun very very fast and pretty as well yeah what about the swim I mean it’s a river but a slow River yeah the swim was good because it’s straight it was very easy to site um very busy the whole time I think because of the nature of the competition um so I was being hit a lot but it’s good fun yeah and many friends of yours yeah there’s like five of us from our triathon club in London uh um and then I’m living in Lisbon at the moment so I had some friends from there too okay perfect and do you feel the star the Nation Star store do you feel British today I feel very British today yes it was nice to see all the great Bain Flags around okay yeah thanks a what did you find special about Co is it is it the water the people the people are so friendly they are fabulous yeah been well well sorted well sorted and uh what is special about those type of events what why should people kind of it gets everybody together they do yeah really good the impression people are really friendly when where everybody doing the same thing aren’t they so it’s the first time we’ve ever done anything like this and it’s absolutely brilliant yeah we’ve gone from horse Eventing yeah to running so really yeah big big difference how much training does it bring I mean how do you have to do that oh she she’s been training really hard yeah she’s uh a firefighter so anytime she has off she’s training okay yeah yeah I mean uh it’s uh it’s impressive I I come a bit from horse riding too so I see right perfect we did build a a triathon I’m Swiss we did build a triathlon with a swim horse and run oh there there was only one like that I think don’t talk about keeping horses again please I mean thank you very much okay bye-bye hello hey you have a you have a a coach no hi no coach oh amazing hard and hot very very hot and how did you feel it you did great cheering didn’t you yeah they did amazing cheering and you you think it’s come come and I mean is it worse to come here do you like Portugal yeah yeah yeah you like the ice cream don’t you yeah the food’s really good ice cream and the chocolate sausage and the chocolate sausage I mean to come in a family like that I mean why well I’m so proud of her she’s done you you’re going to make me cry now she’s done amazing she really has she’s I’m so proud of her yeah and is it I mean really a family experience to do that yeah yeah it’s really nice we could all come out everybody uh together how is that possible well I love it I love it and the whole family runs and stuff we all run pit runs they do Sports they do football watch the other events yeah I watched the cross Triathlon oh my God it was mental oh it made me so scared just watching it they are hardcore really hard that was great yeah yeah it’s all the whole thing has been amazing all the events and the all the effort that’s been put in is really good yeah what is your sport what do you like running and cycling yeah okay you like mountain bike yeah yeah I mean that’s cool so you train and then you come back to do the cross yeah experience iisa or yes in the last year in I and in 2020 uh bilau bilau in Spain and uh what is cool in those type of events uh I feel very very good here in Portugal because it’s very near to my country Spain and the the time is very good for for the the competition and uh do do you come with friends or you’re coming on your own yes I come with my family H five uh people with me and they are kind of helping you or they just put you pressure uh yes uh it’s my uh sorry um you can say in Spanish ah it’s my team support yeah and they become with me uh all my competition here in Spain on other city like Tao in this year in the championship world championship for Iron Man in New Zealand okay this December and what is the difference between such a race or an Ironman 70.3 it’s not the same when I see the people it’s not the same yeah it’s very difficult because you don’t know H who is your competi competi uh maybe with other people from your country but you don’t know H yeah it’s very diff but it’s night because you don’t have any Precision not so it’s a fight against you yeah yeah okay thank you very much thank you hello so where are you from uh London in the UK yeah so you were with some of your colleagues uh here there’s a lot of us here yeah and there’s from our Tri Club London Fields try there’s five or six of us here as well so what is your impression I mean it’s same weather as in London same type of location it’s way hotter here way hotter London heat’s not the same as this it’s immediately boiling I was running around asking saying I just want to go back I want the rain and how is the impression why is it worth to come to such a nation Stars tour type of race I mean it’s you you represent your country I mean what is the the feeling about that I like getting to we the GB Tri suit getting to compete as the team and then when you’re on the course and everyone’s shouting go team GB and it just feels really special coming to compete for your nation yeah and is there any rivalry in the in the in the group or I mean uh you’re all together what is the spirit in such a Ras oh it’s definitely all together even when I’m running on the course I was running with people and we were helping each other even if they’re in my age group we were kind of pulling each other along until the end and then we’ll Sprint what is your next experience this year in terms of international racing I’m doing a full distance Iron Man in Victoria Northern Spain in July um that’s my next big race this year yeah and uh during the season do you travel a lot um yeah most of my races I do in Europe um just because you can rely on nice weather and the roads are really nice as well nice and smooth I mean it’s cool and thank you very much for taking the time to be in front of really likeminded and and one big team it’s it’s great yeah and everyone gives everybody encouragement it doesn’t matter where you come from so that’s really good too and you how did you find the race she said that the run is a killer my God the Run was so hot so hot today especially considering the the the weather we’ve had in the UK has been terrible poor Prep Prep we did it yeah you did it I the other races no no we were late to come in yeah yeah so didn’t catch any of the the others unfortunately do you feel the spirit of the nation SCE through wearing the GB truit is it a pride or not definitely think so yeah there’s not not many opportun opportunities you get doing this so I would say so yeah why did you choose the middle distance um it’s easier than the long distance and the during all the event yeah what is difficult about your role what is your role wow it’s to be here for so many days yeah it’s crazy thing because I think for all the team it was the first time in an event like this with so many days so look we are of course tired but happy because everything is happen you know with nothing special to a point no big accidents nothing like that and seeing the athlets yeah very very you know happy happy with everything you all the people we had here said I mean we have the impression we are in a festival we are having fun together it’s a cool Spirit everybody is really welcoming yeah yeah it’s no it’s true I think he that because the city is is very nice the city so it for them it’s very cool and the people here are very very you know they they they like to receive other people and I think is that one but is it difficult to set up so many different cours during a few days every it’s another format yeah it it’s it’s difficult yeah it’s because it’s not usual you know you have dland you have Triathlon you need to mount the the swimming Mount the bike now Mount the run but I think I think all the staff the to made it with so you know happy yeah so I think for us it it’s not difficult you know I think if you do it with emotion and you want to do it because it’s for the athletes yeah they everybody said Thank you And and we enjoy it too because if they are happy we are happy too of course not only do our work but see him and saying imagine they they came to us and look it was a very great race yeah is that and the quality of the water uh everybody said they had the impression to clean to be really in a clean place is it true what about the test uh yeah it it is true in the the first because the the the first months of the year because they bring so many things on the water it’s not so good but when we arrived at May July the water is perfect if if you see so many people look near the river making diving to be very is it a place where that you would recommend or not absolutely we came uh a few days ago we saw the we saw the city we watch the other sports it really gets you with fills you with the energy to to bring to your own event and uh it’s a really really good course really good event first time for me first time for me so and would you recommend I mean such a location such a participation is it something I mean we have different format shorter one is it a cool experience to uh to start oh yes for sure for sure I think it is one of the best swim courses I’ve done I’ve done a few in different countries and it’s a great swim course and uh the mix uh being in the town with other people and then also a little bit the countryside is is a really good place to participate okay thanks a lot and fun place to come yeah and why why is a Great Britain able to build such a team spirit and to travel it’s a very competitive Nation uh we just love to race and we’ll travel anywhere to to have a race yeah what type of races did you do uh in the last years uh I did Iron Man Valencia nine weeks ago yeah um I generally do 70.3 my last race was last year in um Great Britain yeah what is the feeling in Iron Man you’re wearing your your club or whatever outfit here you’re wearing the GB truit what is the difference in terms of feeling it’s more much more Pride wearing your National kits it’s good to wear your club kit yeah but uh putting the national kit on you it’s a pyramid um system to get here so you know you’re at the top of the pyramid the top of your game to represent your country I mean congratulation and uh what is the next uh race for you uh IR man European championship in Talon in nine weeks okay and I mean there was the isue with the standard distance coming is it too short for you yeah I’ve done one long distance and it’s just short I’m the oh sorry I’m talking about the Olympic Olympic Olympic’s a little bit short for me it’s a little bit too quick a little bit full on yeah yeah I’ve tried it a few times but I prefer the 70.3 I mean congratul thank you very much thank you hey thank you for very much for taking the time I mean we are here in coimbra do you know coimbra a bit Yeah Kimbra is in the last days is very very enthusias for the city is a great moment and uh we are fascinated with the the event yeah and I mean what for for a city I mean first explain to the camera and the people what is your role my role I’m councelor of the municipality with sport okay and what what is the role of a counselor in uh in such uh a city like Co BR the people the young people we have a uh many people young people University people and uh this disappointment of sports the river the river sports the city the the whole city is fantastic it’s fantastic this this this sport yeah when I was here uh in the last days I saw people everywhere I saw discussions between uh people living in coimbra and the athletes coming from all over Europe did you feel that too no I I think is uh is normal because uh it’s a great event uh move many people many many players and the city have um problems with the the the buildings very buildings in the city but uh the the global is very positive for the the mood is just great we see I’ve been in kimra three four times and here this time with so many countries it’s wonderful yeah is very people many people uh the country is preparate for the this event uh the response is is is good and uh we are very very satisfied with the the event yeah in terms of impact what is uh such an event what type of impact can it bring on a city very great for the people the the restaurants the hotary the commercient know the traditional looking and is very very important for the economy the local economy and uh we have a great perspective this is a first time uh in Portugal and uh is U very important to to the economy local yeah great yeah yeah I I have the impression uh I mean coimbra is a university city it’s something really full of young people and uh and we feel it we see it now we bring young people doing sport I mean it’s kind of people getting together yeah H and this curious we we have many many people many young people University people with many countries and Europe and Brazilian people we have uh 3 million people Brazilians is the the the first community in the in the in Portugal with these these people of Brazil and is uh very enthusias for Kimbra this this event because is is very uh you know uh Global event okay how was it possible to build such a still to keep this University spirit in uh in the city of Kimbra because I mean it’s so wonderful it’s the old University with Portugal and the first old University in the Europe because your history your impact in in the country in the world is very important and the symbios of this type of events the European the world uh competition is very solor and important for us yeah okay thank you very much thank you Austria Austria so V [Music] [Music] Nation yet Nation Star yeah yeah for so I’m I have now uh a very important person that I have to thank it’s uh it’s Ricardo Ricardo I mean is the organizer is working hours to do this uh this thing happening today yeah I mean when do you sleep well this this week not not a lot yeah like so in in s days I only went home four times uh and just to sleep like five six hours maximum uh but it’s worth it I think everyone is happy everyone is enjoying the race uh the feedback is so so good from everyone that that what makes me uh feel alive not not the hours of sleep but the feedback from the from the athletes and from all the crowd what is the secret of the success in a place like coimbra I don’t know I think I always thought uh that qura is a special place for this because we have a a great uh water line in the middle of the city uh we have no boats because the river is between bridges and dams so we don’t have boats in the water uh also because uh we have a real flat course around around the river also some high spots because of the university and uh we have we are fortunately to to be here in the middle of some two parks one in each side of the river that we can uh start to to build our uh City race our venue without being uh stressed by The Cars and by everything so we have time to plan everything to do the to do all the all the things we need to have all the people here to have parks to have the the tents to have everything without being with Under Pressure because we are in the middle of the city or to be off off the line and the people uh are away so we need the people near the race so they can enjoy so you’re next swimmer what do you think of uh the Water here is it a dream place for a swimmer yeah I think the water here is very very good to a swim we don’t have any current because of the dam like it’s 600 m above the above the the end line um the water is a little bit shallow for my taste but that’s also what makes it it becomes very hot so we can sleep we can swim there uh from early June uh may maybe to to last October to the end of October always with the water above 21 22 degrees this week was a very special case because we had a lot of rain we were not expecting also the water came from the mountains because we needed to to put the level a little bit down on the river so the water came a little bit colder so we are swimming Now with uh 20° 19.8 20 20 20 20.2 but it’s it’s great for a swim yeah and why is it so clean I mean everybody all the countries are telling me I mean this river is wonderful it’s clean it’s great why yeah I think that’s what one of the main reasons may may be what I was telling you because we don’t have boats here yeah only only sailboats small sailboats uh the lots of people uh enjoy to be here and and take a dive during all the all the year and we have the the water supply that supplies all the city is just uh 1 kilm above above the stream so uh we need to keep it very clean and uh quim Bros water drinking water uh is one of the best in the country is the quality is like T like bottled water so everyone here drinks tap water instead of bottled water and that’s one thing that usually uh everyone in the city admires and make the city all keep pushing that in the high standards so that we can have uh very good water I I mean now you’ve been working a lot you have enough you don’t want to hear about Tron anymore or you or do you want to organize again something like that in the future yeah I want to do to do it’s it’s always the same we started with just one Euro Cup you remember you were here in 2021 uh then we went back in 2022 with the same thing we stopped in 2023 because we wanted to prepare something bigger tried some new tracks tried some new Vue uh you remember we were on the other side of the river now we changed um okay we we need to see what the the mayor has to say what the the city has to say listen to them listen to the people in the coffees in the in the in the restaurants in the hotels to see what is the feedback talk to some partners and uh I don’t know I am ready to have I must talk to my team because this was very hard to do but uh for me we can just let let let make this happen another time if we watch here I have the impression you’re the organizer of a rock festival or something like that yeah because people is happy I think H there is a secret we can usually say that this is in Portugal as long as you have food and drink everybody is happy so if you if you get them great Great Courses uh an amazing race as we as we have keep them happy uh they are always happy they want to come back that’s that’s what we try to do and make the the athletes our main goal uh we don’t want the our main goal is not the city is not the sport it’s not is not anything else than the the athletes they are our main goal and we we we have a a commitment to them we always say yes they want to change anything we say yes we just say no if there is no other way but our first word for them is always yes what is the recommendation you would give to an athlete now we are in coimbra in September we are in vishi with the Nation Star tour uh with the this opportunity given to the athletes any recommendation to what why should an athlete come and participate to one of those event well um every place is a special place every place has different qualities and different Nuance uh so it is I know this is a sport uh this is very this is different from everything you can’t compare this to even to world the the world race rally circuit or the F1 or football or anything because the spirit is very very different you see all all these people are with their families uh they are enjoying their time they came like one week before some of them are leaving one one uh one week later so they are use they are they are enjoying the city they are sightseeing and that’s what make Tri Outland different you can you just go don’t go for a race you go for a race and you go like it’s it’s a sport tourism you go for tourism and to know the city to know the place to know uh the locals and to to enjoy the the the day with them okay so thank you very much and UHC I the Portugal suit or wearing the club suit well uh when you are wearing the your National suit I think you always give a little bit more give a a little bit extra so it’s you get the the PRS of wearing the the the suit of Portugal so I think it’s it makes everything better even better yeah and uh it’s a home race did you had a lot of supporters coming with you yeah uh my wife and my more than I mean the registration that there are still some places so really take the opportunity to register we are expecting a lot of Nations a lot of British people but other countries too the French are going to be there it’s going to be a real unique experience right it is I mean is our um Premier event we expect lot of countries coming to compete for the European championship and um we encourage of course our national Federation members to send their best athlet to that event we have um great expectation we are putting up a great event with the support of the organizer there in the
