Same price ($1800). Seems an obvious choice at first bat but the full picture complicates things.
Pinarello Gan RS:
– Ultegra 6800 derailleurs and shifters, brand new 105 chainring/cassette/chain
– aluminum non aero rims
– powertap power meter hub
– some wear around where the cable leaves the bikes frame. Kind of concerns me, if that started I’m not sure I see it stopping.
Cervelo S2:
– 6850 Ultegra di2 groupset
– power meter crank
– Tokyowheel aero wheels
– comes with TT bars also but I don’t really care about those
-frame looked great, some cosmetic wear to the shifters, wheels looked in good shape.
The cervelo felt faster, the shifting didn’t feel as smooth as I might like or expect. The Pinarello was more comfortable, felt slower (maybe just in my head). But both were comfortable generally.
Pics attached of the cervelo chainring/cassette and the Pinarello. Thoughts on condition of the chainring/cassette on the cervelo?
I do definitely want aero wheelset, and I think the power meter hub on the pinarello complicates things because a) id have to buy the wheelset and b) build the wheels for the hub.
The cervelo has everything I want in a road bike but I’m a little concerned about the less smooth shifting and potential wear. My campy groupset and grx groupset are buttery smooth so that was noticeable enough, but maybe I also just didn’t give it enough time.
Also for context I own a 2013 Roubiax Pro with campy Record groupset. It’s 58 inches, rode it all last year but it’s too long for me. Also I want a power meter + better wheelset so seems a good decision to sell it and buy a different bike.
