Nice few days taking in Islay, Jura and the mainland. If you head to your local pub and check the whisky behind the bar there will almost certainly be a bottle from Islay there. It’s a remarkable place. These islands feel remote and yet hugely welcoming. We had some amazing expressions of ‘the kindness of strangers’. We also had the wholesome yet boisterous experience of seeing Scotland lose 5-1 to Germany in the only Pub in Jura. The nights we camped involved a lawn outside said pub for a drunken stumble to bed and a beautiful isolated beach the following day. Get out there everyone it’s later than you think!
