Huddersfield’s Maddie Leech – interviewed after finishing second in British Road Championships U23s time-trial in Yorkshire
you just finished second in the British under 23 time trial how do you feel about that yeah I think I could be happy um it was very tough course I wouldn’t say like it wasn’t my ideal course but yeah given the form that I’ve had I think it was a a good result you won it last year so is there a sense that you’ve been beaten this year is that what you feel um yeah I guess you’re always disappointed cuz you come here to to win but I think the course this year is very very different um and I’d say maybe my running this year has been not as well planned as last year um but I gave it my best today so yeah I think I’m happy with second Ladi gent it’s a busy championships for you you got the Criterium on Friday night and then the um road race on Sunday how do you prepare for those two different types of races yeah I think it’s um they’re very different races uh I think doing yeah the elite races like the world tour Races they help prepare for the I guess the road race and the crit’s just a good bash about and just good like threshold effort for an hour
