By the end of the previous day, we couldn’t agree on how long to ride, so we separated, and I rode for another 40 km at night. Since the storm was passing slowly (still with winds of up to 60 km/h), I enjoyed the ride. When I found a spot to camp, my happiness quickly changed when I couldn’t find the pegs for my tent. After searching for 25 minutes in strong winds and rain, I couldn’t feel my hands and face anymore. Being wet under my waterproof clothes after the exercise, I started shivering. I was getting worried and was ready to ride back the 40 km just to stay warm when I happily found my pegs hidden between my clothes.

The next day was quite sunny. The landscape looked similar to Patagonia in southern Chile or the grasslands called pampa in Argentina. You could see glaciers while riding, and the temperature was around 13°C, so I was quite happy about it. We rode for another 4 hours and covered only 35 km due to strong headwinds, eventually reaching the town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. After making a quick stop at an N1 gas station to eat something, we went straight to a local heated swimming pool, where we stayed for almost 3 hours resting and even sleeping.

We continued our journey towards Diamond Beach for another 30 km, passing waterfalls, glaciers, mountains, the ocean, and volcanic fields covered in moss.
