Great Britain’s Joe Clarke emerged victorious from the men’s K1 final at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup in Krakow
well congratulations Joe Victory here in kraal what does that mean for you uh it’s huge I’ve had a really disappointing season so far in the slem uh put a couple of good runs down just at the wrong time in the qualification and nothing in the semi-finals so first final uh in the World Cup Series so far here today and a great run in the final so uh boods well and builds the confidence ahead of the games in not not long now a couple of weeks really yeah and how did you feel coming into this final uh not I’ll be completely honest not great I pulled my neck in the cross session on the Wednesday evening and certainly woke up on Thursday morning unsure if I’d raced and just thought I’d go out and give it a going and see what happens and yeah here we are 20 well 48 hours later and uh gold medal to yeah can’t really put into words yeah I mean obviously you you just reflected on the season so far it’s perhaps not gone quite as you as well as you’d hoped really but uh how do you see it yeah I mean that’s can uh I know it’ be nice to be on top all the time it’s it’s a really hard spot to be on top all the time um and the training’s been going well and all the other stuff been pointing in the right direction just hasn’t come out in the day so trying to remain calm focused and know that it’ll come and and Trust in the process and I’ve done that today and and yeah it’s resulted in the goal medal so that’s fantastic and just builds that confidence ahead of the game so I mean I don’t necessarily need it but it’s always nice to get that kind of uh recognition for all the hard work put in and uh and show you where you are internationally yeah exactly I was going to say it’s a very sort of timely Bo boost just comes just at the right time just you know it’s very very close now isn’t it like you said the game so yeah yeah uh well counting down the day so what we on less than 50 now 40 something or maybe less than 40 I’m trying trying not to keep count too much because uh it’s going to be here before we know it and uh just trying to live in the moment right now cuz the buildup is a really nice part of the games as well and obviously it’ll go by so quickly so don’t wish any days away um and then just enjoy the whole whole kind of buildup and and process of the games yeah you just you said about that little injury there I mean is this going to hamper you for the rest of the competition or are you going to just go on as planned uh hopefully G as planned it’s been getting I mean can actually turn this ways now like left and right before I H genely couldn’t turn uh we’ve got tomorrow off while I certainly have in in in kayak so we’re back on Sunday with the cross so hopefully can continue on that upward TR trajectory and yeah another medal up for grabs on on Sunday and uh obviously in a good place to do so hopefully well well in on today thank you
