Hya everybody. this week I have purchased a used and not working Mafiabike bomma 29".
The problem was the pedals were spinning but the wheeles weren't. I bought it without research thinking changing the freewheel on it and its good to go. Turns out the hub is indeed a cassette type hub. Regular modern bmx hub.
I pulled it apart today and for my unfortunate it wasn't a little grime that didn't allowed the pawls to engage but everything was too worn down, pawls and ratchet ring aswell.
My question would be. Would it be cheaper and easier to replace the ring and the pawls or just to get a new hub, and lace it again?
Also if I would go with the replacing the worn stuff with new, could I do it with an 'upgrade' ? Thinking of going higher engagement with the 6 pawl driver? if that is possible, or have even anybody done anything like that?
