Just wanted to share a little hack that I use for my old vintage trek commuter. I don't have clearance to fit a fender with my rack (axiom streamliner road DLX) so I used to always get a muddy / wet butt. I took an old tire, cut it open, and used zip ties to hold it in place. I put the tube on the inside of the rack so I can still mount my panniers. I also recently added a little flap to the back, TBD if that'll actually help. Obviously this setup doesn't help with the front splash but no more wet butt for me!
