TOUR de SUISSE 2024 STAGE 1 🔴 LIVE

unfortunately we’re not going to get to see him next time trialist of note to my mind anyway it’s coming off in about 8 minutes which is uh Finn lackan fo Fisher PL you know when they were filling in the name of their child I think they just kept putting in all the options and they meant to strike a few out he the longest name in cycling at the moment well that looks like more than a little road rash Brie yeah and it’s it’s fresh as well uh T nice um got you know a bit of road rash on on his leg there so but he’s another Rider I think there was a little bit of talk he’s had a great start of the year um won the Tour of Hungary was getting over some climbs we’ve got some massive climbs here had a stage win in romendy quite recently and you know these I think his dad svan is kind of still not sure on on where he’s going next this is a big goal for him um he’s already won uh stage race this year he’s in excellent company not only in his team as the winner scmo last year but also a lot of other Raiders um but he’s touted as a you know Pro possibly stage um race Contender let’s see what he can do here in the company of his teammate I say again last year’s winner scale Mo I kind of put him in the same bracket as I don’t know Anthony Perez uh maybe Paul La per James Shaw that kind of thing somebody who can really take a step forward if they need to it looks like he’s that was a a fresh scarring there I don’t know whether that was late last night when they were they closed the roads here uh or closed the course and they were out scoping it it did a job as well this morning certainly looks sore this is Antoine AB now um Swiss cycling have got their um a sort of smish board selection Brian of riders and occasionally they go loud and they will know this course and I imagine that they have been they’ve had it locked off for a couple of weeks they’ll know every inch of it won’t they a big race for them all uh rain your national team and the two you know they’re already looking at competitions you know they’ve got one of their Riders first at the first checkpoint at 1 kilm Felix uh styley and he did style it out one minute and 16 seconds so he’s currently leading the the TSO competition well he didn’t manage to complete the feat as it were but U I think he went for the for the tiso intermediate Sprint competition essentially it was uh two checkpoints out there and he decided that’s what he was going to have so he will get on the on the podium a little bit later on and Brian you know modest uh modest prizes they bring publicity and some nice pictures for as well for the team they will be on the podium at the end of the day while it looks at things well at the moment yes with a 116 um just over just what one second faster than leave flam part so you know that was his goal um you if he if it stays like that he gets himself on the podium as you see and gets himself a watch yeah good lad um Brian mighte be biging up the watches quite frankly the one he’s been wearing is broken and he’s uh he’s looking for a new sponsorship hasn’t got it just yet there’s a man who’s um decided to swap the hot seat for the comfy seat right but I make myself look a bit smarter he Le part you know you never quite know as a rider when you’re in the hot seat when the pictures are going to come to you I’ve seen a you know half eaten minty being on display in the past but he got away with it this time these the zlm tour um hot seat the uh it was sponsored by alping and it was on a a barber chair and they were getting a full Works head massage um you know M shampooed and and cut and blow making it worth their while that’s how it should be exactly yeah exactly yeah um tour of Britain I think once uh a long long time back when we came into Blackpool the hot seat was on um one of those uh little kitties machines that go backwards and forwards when you put 50p in so you going to see the hter SC no that would uh that would be the hot mat anyway oh hello 50 m from home honor dear well there you are a sprinter who’s going to have a chance to show his credentials tomorrow the only Sprint stage comes on let’s 25 seconds down on the what what looks like it may well be the winner of this time trial if the rain stays away I’m just kind of wondering whether some of those who are going late on they would have got all the kind of data that they need from their teammates and the like whether it might actually pose a modest Advantage problem is when rain comes as you’re possibly seeing from the cordons at the side of the road here we often get um a cooling breeze that swirls around and that can hamper you more than more than the rain itself briyan if that does pick up that pre-storm wind that is familiar to many a meteorologist yeah I looked at the the weather just just before about 10 15 minutes before the you know we came to Air and it there wasn’t too much wind you can see as we go down past the canal there is a bit of wind um but nothing to to shout about so I’m not too sure it needs a bit of a wind to blow storm in um whether it comes comes later we’ll have to kind of wait and see I hope it stays dry for everybody but like you say a lot of the Riders have decided to go a little bit earlier and get a little bit more of a rest apart from E Lampard when he’s on TV has to put his his feet on the ground and off the chair by the way Mark cish is here he going off the ramp in about 17 minutes time it’ be interesting to see how invested he is in the time trial he’s taking part in this race as mon gets off the ramp here is Mark cish is here to basically give himself the practice of getting through the mountain so bridging to the Sprint days on the tour to France I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s one particular Sprint day that he’s absolutely regarding as his own final he’s got a big task ahead of him Brian he’s been persuaded not to retire and he’s kept himself in that trajectory to do a job for as mark camish As Nice comes across the line now um slower than dear there you go um so of the fastman Al dear still not badly placed yeah it’s a project for Mark isn’t it and um the mountains here are very much part of it cuz he wants to bridge through the TP yeah it’s all about the preparation isn’t it uh for for many riders slim pickings for the sprinters but we do have quite a few sprinters here um you know they will get their day U not today possibly but yeah there was talk even couple of weeks ago about whether you know the some of the stages might have to have kind of plan B because there was still a lot of heavy snow in the area so I hope it doesn’t I’ve been on site for this race for for many years such a beautiful race and beautiful stunning scenery and I hope we get to see it just coming by the shrouded hydro plant um and uh you know got so many things to visit here uh 200 met to go a positions rolling clicking down against him e low still looks like the daddy today to me mon is off the rampell is already started we’ll be hooking back for Finn Fisher black I hope who’s going off in about 10 seconds time it should be he that we find now now this Brian could well be a very quick run he looks determined look at him counting himself in well he he’s got um he’s got in his locker isn’t he um it’s one of these going of short time charless 4.77 km in length a little bit technical in some of the corners but you know we’ve only got what four corners um and this it’s a really kind of fast one 56.1 195 km an hour on average um if you’ve got some kind of team pursuiting or pursuiting in the past uh which some of these Riders have that’s the sort of effort we’re kind of looking at you know just over 5 minutes of sheer pain uh tailn at this point as you probably seen described to you by the flags um transition coming up as well trees is definitely billowing before some of you say it’s downdraft from the helicopter it’s not um the transitions that we have here can be a little bit scary as uh rello just heads to one of those four dirty great big straight sections not terribly wide either we’re running on the um the top of the Dyke which holds the canal in place and he’s just passed the 3ks to go marker I think it was anyway so he’s just going to dip down and then take one of these Rises I have seen a few Riders getting Airborne by the way um I think shelm Mo himself actually did indeed suffer that in dignity um here is Finn Fisher black riding along with him now he was fourth in has done many time trials but he as Brian says he’s got it as part of the toolkit and he’s on a team that really have um established themselves as great time trialists there in so yeah let’s see what he does the way he counted himself in he nodded with the clock all of the beeps that’s always a good tell Brian and you can see those who are just going to ride through because they’re on helping Duty he’s on help yourself today he certainly is and he had a a fan that say the RO holding the kwi flag there but he does look solid um expecting them to to be within touch and distance of the the fastest time but I think it’s still going to be hard to beat the uh the leader at the moment e lampar I’m just uh you know looking at the uh the first checko can’t see he’s just going in there at fourth place so a 118 so he’s in the ballpark it’s what he’s got left for the rest of this course but he’s only what 1 second behind the uh the fastest Rider AG Lampard and 1 second over this distance is a considerable amount of time um because I think this will go down to possibly fractions of the second the end I think he wants to show something he’s he’s not he’s had a bit of a miserable time since P here let’s have a look at this watch it watch whether just about got airborne and then you got this to deal with it’s not nice there’s a hashed sign there by way of a warning but haven’t seen anyone spear through it just yet and as we head underneath this arboreal tunnel uh just on one of the shorter straight sections if you can call this straight you’ll just see he makes the interchange watch the motorcycle really as a guide here and he’s doing a good job he’s holding a nice station not quite as smooth as some that we’ve seen hcock was absolutely amazing um but nonetheless he’s getting the power down he’s treating this almost like a Sprint run you have to um you know when you you’re riding at 56 km an hour on average she he liser just start for DSM firman postnl it’s where you find that second uh he’ll know um this is going to be a close one and I think you were right toing to point Fisher black out because an exceptional Rider um don’t know what form he’s on but so far so good um he needs to find just over a second if he wants to to win this time tral just remind everybody that EES lampart is still in the hot seat as leader of this with a 54558 56.1 95 km an hour fing still in second with Ean hater in third but this man could upset one two possibly all three of them well he’s certainly going for it look at he’s got a he’s suffering about a butt shuttle here um he’s uh constantly just readjusting his seat we’ve had uh attempts in the past to put gripper seats on here there was of course the old rules when it came to the horizontal pitching of the saddle they’ve eased that a little bit because of Health warnings about gentleman’s departments and all that kind of thing but anyway he’s on it right now um what can we expect from him Brian I I think he’s he’s gunning for a Podium you let’s let there be no doubt uh 500 M um there was a Tailwind blowing up down the back straight 15 seconds 14 seconds counting him in he going to be close Brian yeah it’s going to be close but I think he’s going to come up a little bit short um you know but it’s a a great effort he’s about 1 second down in E’s lampart I think he’s going to be a few seconds down come the end good laugh that wasn’t the finish line here he is 50 m he may well be just about on the podium he’s off it now I’m afraid fifth place Finn Fisher black gives away 7 seconds but that was creditable and that will be something he can put in the locker Brian and take away with him he’s had a bit of a rough time yeah um but I think possibly you’ll be disappointed by that by the looks of things know this was a goal to try and kind of win this um because you know the team that he’s got here I would think you know they’re here to possibly support yets um you know I think you’ve already mentioned they’ve got xiaa as well they’ve got a super strong team here prodigal Sun back at M Star narra Gana I think it’s going to be a happier place for him Brian after um leaving under a little bit of a cloud played away for a while and now he’s back says it feels like home yeah it’s nice to see him back in the Pelon isn’t it and um I think his experience will count a lot when it comes to the team here with M so let’s see what he can do in this race yeaha R big and enri mass certainly a strong team for bistar also have Aras yobs Nelson Oliva you know they’ll make a noise it seems that we’re in a rain shadow here which is pretty handy because there’s plenty of rain falling on the Hills but as you can see the the clouds are dissipating dispersing just after they have dropped their load upon a rather verdant land that we’re playing with today if you’re just joining us welcome it’s the opening stage here of the tour of Switzerland just over 4 kilometers it’s the shortest time trial we’ve had in the race since 2007 this race has got a rich and indeed varied history it’s been off the radar just a little bit pushed off that raid or at least to the edge of it by the doofan but this year with some high mountains it’s tempted I I think possibly an enhanced start list compared to what we’ve had over the last couple of years so some very good Riders and I’m very much looking forward to monitoring some of those who are going to be heading to the Tour of France one of whom is Mark cadish will’ll be coming off the ramp shortly and indeed it’ be good to see him and what kind of mood he’s in he usually has that sort of um open open mouthed wide-eyed very Twitchy just desperate to get off and underway and it is a nervous time Brian even if time traving is not your thing you want to start the race just get into The Fray and there’s a certain pitch that you bring yourself to before you get into competition which then dissipates just a little as the race actually begins but nerves will be displayed we’ve seen it already yeah some riders that are totally up for this you know want to get a result others just want to get it out the way and um this is a a long day for the team staff more than anything else um okay it’s only a short effort for the Riders but the team staff have to be around pretty much all the time so this is a day that it can be a long long day for many but for some just over a 5 minute effort indeed I we see how seriously everyone takes it for the time being at least it looks pretty serious I must say Antoine Deon must have uh taken himself as tumble finished a a minute down I don’t know what happened to Serio a but he’s won for the breaks later on I think that’s uh that’s fair to say it’s not been a good run for him haven’t seen any spills but then again we came to live pictures a little bit late using some experience there just getting a um uh a a brief rise out of it jorg steinhauser off the ramp next for EF education he’s the second card to play Within this race and well a chance to have a look at those by now famous Infamous call it what you willp helmets they were the first to sort of push the outer reaches of Arrow um as far as the helmets are concerned uh some helmets have gone even weirder and as a result the UCI have stepped in and they’re going to start putting parameters on those if it starts to get any more ridiculous um bikes have got to look like bikes and presumably Brian helmets have got to look like helmets that’s the UCI for you yes um well it is a helmet but it’s how safe is the helmet that’s the thing um just last year um Stephen Kong had a nasty crash in the [Applause] Europeans yeah talking helmet design um and the fact that the parameters have just got a bit silly and so the UCI have decided to step in and mandate some restrictions Brian and I can understand why it’s getting a bit silly yeah it’s it’s okay um you know getting aerodynamics and things like that with it’s a safety aspect but um more so with the amount of wind tunnel testing that these Raiders are doing now uh it’s about where their head position is and most of them are just looking at the front wheel instead of looking in front so and they’re designing the helmets to to to be able to do that so yeah they may look big and ugly but they’re certainly aerodynamic but are they safe um but it’s more where the the rider’s head is positioned more than anything and with these Aero helmets uh the position of the heads pretty much is just looking at the the front wheel in front of you um you can see steinhouse there as well head right down just looking um yeah and some of these instances you know we’ve seen it already even on the track Raiders are are um coming up and and drop Raiders from um rival teams and you know hit them from behind so yes to get very earo these these days with the testing that they’re doing and the uh the helmets that they’re they’re using we saw last year in the Euros with Stephan Kung just hit the barriers just rode straight into the barriers writing on his own purely because he was just looking at the the way where the barriers came in and unfortunately hit them nasty accident it can happen um that is an extraordinarily focused position as I was just alluding to he couldn’t get any lower if he had a a chin rest upon his bars Brian it’s quite phenomenal he almost looks headless from this shot yeah it’s all about aerodynamics um CDA all that sort of stuff um and it’s that’s what the teams are kind of heavily in to and it’s all these kind of small margins that they’re trying to get but I’m interested to see you said he was second I think he could be the rider um magnificent stage one and the way he rod in the Italia let’s hope he’s he’s going of recovered we certainly have like you know diesel engine in him after that race but let’s see how he goes in this um caras possibly in his leader but the way this man came out Road in the Jalia was magnificent how he goes here certainly looks like he’s carried a lot from the race um you know some Riders have been they just wanted to um continue the action Kaden Groves himself just went off and did some of the lotto Cup races in Belgium because he said his legs were spinning so well he didn’t want to go quiet Brian he just wanted to carry on with the motion that he’d found himself very comfortable with even after the ERS of uh something like the jir you can take it steady after a grand tour but um your body goes into a bit of a kind of shock mode you know for 3 weeks it’s you you you’re pounding it and then all of a sudden it’s like resting and it’s like trying to work out what am I doing here um so yeah you have to keep revving the engine um every so often and it’s the same with with anything you know even performance cars you don’t drive them around at 20 M hour H you sometimes have to open them up and it’s the same with the you know these professional athletes you have to open up every every now and again and keep that engine taking over if you rest too much after The Grand Tour your legs just feel it Jil what’s an amazing time by him 78 seconds down sixth place goodness me Brian these results can pop up we said we might get some surprises I think we have to detail that as one yes you could say that not a shock top is very good you know he’s he’s done this in the past popped up with a very good time travel and I’m sure you know looking down this that list there there’s many other Raiders Of course as commentators we look at time trial we look at time trial Specialists but as we’ve already seen um there’s some um good Raiders out there that can pop up some surprises yeah whether individual or in a team but no team Tri trial now what we do have is Mark kavenish how nice to be able to say that well he says that he’s here to do his mountains testing and that was one of the most relaxed departures I’ve seen him to I must admit wants to get round safely and of course we want to see him thrive in this race he’ll have a chance to Sprint tomorrow but it’s more about the mountains for him he says steinhouse are coming to the line now 15 seconds down not bad 25th place kind of underscores what Watson did just shortly before we saw Mark cdes plenty of action we’re filtering through them very quickly here BR yeah we certainly are and uh um you know just looking at that time of steinhouse out there that was it was a decent time compared to you know where katas finished kater pass you know dropping sometime at 20 odd seconds so good time I think we’ll see this all day long there’ll be a lot of times very very close to each other um but for the moment it’s still Eve Lampard with potentially some other good riders that could challenge him but if not he’s going to have a a long afternoon in that hot seat what can we glean from Mark today possibly not very much I’m not even expecting to glean Too Much from the Sprint tomorrow he’s just keeping this safe for the time being it is going to be treated almost like a prep race rather than uh one that he’s going to go to win Alexa lenko within that team however is somebody who will be going for victory uh s already been off the ramp yes he has back uh at the very beginning of the day and and if that was indeed the case I’m just seeing where he finished as part of the group here one mov he still keeping his light under a bush often does 21st he finished there you go found him yes um so yeah not the best but then again not the most disastrous day for lenko who usually goes very loud when we get to the Tour of France he will be there principal supported Rider but of course he’ll be I imagine he’ll be even drafted in to do some lead out if required for us mark C issues of our Dame is to try and get that unique record he’s equal holder of Tour stage winds along of course with the great EDD ma well the wind’s blowing up um which usually announces uh you can see it from the water actually um which usually announces that we have a change of weather we do have rain in the local there was a big fear that indeed it would completely destroy the competition today then the weather forecast changed slightly they said it’s going to be late on um the rain expected to come kind of any time from about now it’s an increased percentage chance of rain and almost a certainty late on I don’t know whether it’s going to blow through the ground temperature is reasonably warm and so even if it does rain we had some moisture overnight um it does generally tend to evaporate Mark’s not full chat but he’s not holding back either Brian no you wouldn’t um just do the professional thing go as hard as you can um like you said right from the start even in that first Corner that you don’t take any RIS whatsoever okay now I’m wondering if these spots let’s see if we get any new ones on this lens shall we you keep an eye um it may well have been that it was kicked up spat up by the canal that we came by because the breeze which is picked up which was a which uh of course on a on a loop such as we’re dealing with here it’s actually a rectangular course um comes from all directions so you take advantage in one part and then you got a headwind in another uh some of which is shrouded thankfully um can’t see any rain being added to the lens I think this was pick up from the canal Brian rather than falling from the sky yeah I’m trying to you know work out myself when I saw um where the this um water came from but it looks dry um car just been through these coordinates these sequences um just stay safe get to the Finish think about tomorrow more than anything else yeah indeed uh yes it was water pickup cuz we’d have some spots on the camera of the helicopter as well that being the case unless they’ve in installed one of the extras that you pay for West cam which is a a rolling fish in the front of the uh lens but I don’t think that’s the case I think it was pick up from the uh folding water I think that’s called waves of the canal from now on it’s going to be folding water chuda coming here with a strong team Talman I I guess might be regarded as part of that but Marius myoffer is their man they got yanis vaza as well which I always think is what a Swiss magician would say on reveal let’s see what is brought To Us by this man ran yes indeed and um wasar is a raidar that I think they’ll be expecting a lot of in this race very very good climber like you say they’ve got you know other guys here um to do their jobs but I would think War are the Swiss Rider um for the CH procycling team will be their partly best month he’s not hung back here Brian this is great no this is seconds no real surprise you know 52.7 we consider e Lampard is 562 just go through the motion just just keep your feet off the chair in front just relax wave to the camera uh just be ready great to see Mark cavish here they’re doing us the honor of giving us a slow-mo of the man he looks like he’s done an awful lot of gym work Brian he’s um he looks very powerful I’m not too sure gym work but he’s been on quite a lot of training camps he’s been to GRE with his coach quite a lot he was in the recent one with the rest of his team mates um he certainly is totally focused in in what he has to do so it’s no real surpris that he does look fit he certainly does which is wondrous can he do it Brian we’re going to ask this constantly AR me I believe he can yeah he just needs one shot that’s one one good shot exactly no Mechanicals no nothing just one good shot we now do have rain proper if indeed the folding water which we now calling w was not responsible before here it comes and Mark cish will be th thrilled to be through I think before some of the late Runners who’ve really got something of a burden now for now these roads are impeccable as you’d expect in this part of the world uh riding with Talman he’ll make that little transition in a few moments time um however if the roads get nasty I’m just seeing if we’ve got any of those tky drain covers that can often just hamper us along the way thankfully it looks like not the case in fact I’m hard pushed to find even painted Road Services they’ve done a good job this is okay because it’s not in a corner and in fact uh the the rain grates they do have their um their vents pointed in the wrong way for a cyclist but thankfully they’re at the side of the road and you’re unlikely to be troubled by by them you really want those vents cutting across the road rather than facing you because you can lose a wheel in them very very easily but I’ll all be aware of that it’s it’s really rattling drain covers like that one in the uh the middle of the road there they look impeccably well seated and not in the corners and Conrad is on a mission here 400 m 8 to go he should just miss out but again another strong performance Brian and they’re coming thick and fast yeah they are just a bit of kind of paint on the road there I’m glad it’s not folded over water because it’s easier to say waves um but we definitely have um some some good performances still to come out there whether they’re good enough to to be e Lampard but this is a strong performance here by Patrick Conrad certainly is and you saw that he went with with a second added to his time there he volted from 20th to 30th shows you how many riders are camped out around this point how much can we read into today Brian is it just establishing an order for us yeah not it’s not a lot to be honest with you um it all come in in a high mountains of course some Riders are better than others at time TRS this is on a short one puncture he just had that right there just heard blow out you yeah you did hear it there unfortunately um for he blew out on the landing bunny hopped and then pop it went Brian it was almost a self- invoked pinch puncture yep but gets away with it um unfortunately he’ll lose what 15 20 seconds there um but yeah just that we bump over yeah it was on Landing that it went Brian yeah straight down and um he could have lost the uh the back end there but nice and easy back onto Spar bike off he goes he’ll lose 15 20 seconds but I don’t think he’ be too worried about that no um I don’t think he’s one of our that he one of principal concern Talman um they’ll be looking for myof when it comes to the uh Sprint tomorrow but um nonetheless irksome I think you might find here we are Baron Chini raft of young Italians coming through Brian it’s been a while we’ve had to wait but they kind of hung on to their stars for a long time but the youngsters are with us now y good to see um and he’s part of a very strong team when you look at it Adam YZ barini yang Christian he’s he’s come of AG this year Del Toro another one Fisher black Ela Hershey wow there’s no weak you can just see what the weather conditions have have done and you know we were a little bit surprised when we got the start list that so many Raiders have gone early and this is the reason why it’s all these pro teams are you know they’ve got their weather man and um you know they’ve decided that they want to go la to to to get away from this because there is a couple of parts of the this course it’s not too technical at all but a couple of parts that you just have to uh treat with respect tman coming in after bunny hopping what was a transition from a bridge to a flat Road almost an expansion Gap wasn’t it decided to Bunny Hop it non Landing back wheel went pop had to change the bike which counted I’m afraid for his problems well still to come um price pison I’m looking forward to seeing him saon crra as well could go well late on but the rain now clearly visible and uh I’m just wondering whether it will have too much of an impact certainly cornering if it was a more technical run it would have had a magnified effect but uh for the for now anyway it’s the fans that are fighting to protect themselves right coping I think for me price Pon is more of a time trial specialist um saen crra he’s he’s done this before um he’s one time trials he’s I think he’s come to form now whether this is a little bit too short for him but he’s definitely a kind of kind of lampart tesque type of Rider um that kind of Punchy rider that’s they can um maybe challenge him but look Mark Hershey is another one that I was just yeah but can do well super motivated to ride in the T and um you know he want to do well right from the start S Eric beastrom James Shaw Michael morof meru um we have Yan Christen Lawson krck uh Oscar Rodriguez will go strongly uh Sammy batistella the likes of Anthony DL Mark Hershey who was just about to mention um but yeah somebody who’s quite explosive could go very well Kim haiduk um Alexis Rena as well sain crra and Price p just before him Simone Velasco as well he’s not bad too many accelerations too many accelerations well they have tried to slow it down he is absolutely motoring I hope we get a slow-mo of that Brian because um there was a big wobble there and then he actually got airborne momentarily Baron chinii is his eyeballs out to deliver here y um there a lot of this young Talent want to show of course that they’re in these super strong teams and and when you’re in a team like this you you want to show you you know your worth it’s not a case of you’ve got this contract you sit back um for the next kind a couple of years or the term of the contract they’re always fighting within because you know you always want your opportunity as well so I think everybody in this team and most of the teams have been been told to look get out there and and just try and of nail it as quick as you can well he’s giving it a good go right now let’s see how he transitions he started backing off a little bit early there have you seen a lot of the Riders were carrying a little bit of speed into this parts that’s probably one of the slowest I’ve seen purely because of the conditions Caron y I’m just looking at some of the over banding that’s troubling them as well around that part Jordi warlock oh oh and again and look at the how wet it is here so the start ramp itself a challenge Brian not nice y um it’s everybody knows that these start ramps are quite slidy because they’ve just got the the signage on it so just roll off don’t put the power down and he did slip and then he puts the power down there on the um the the paint on the ground as well and watch this as he comes into this corner there are two steel drain caps that he’s just well he did roll over it have a look there was they were there promise you little bit of a uh a venting description profile to the tires here as well interesting they’re talking about the tires here Brian we had a closeup of it so displaying a pattern yeah just listen J sure there saying may be a little bit too late um of course in cycling we don’t have can of like it’s not like Formula 1 where we have like tires suited for these kind of kind of conditions um the only thing they would do is just kind of put them down a little bit of course in time travs um you there a lot of of PSI in them exactly yeah discretion cre form of Valor 66th Place click click for Baron chinii 24 4 and a half seconds down thereabouts comes in don’t crash beyond the line for goodness sake um it’s almost feels like a um an aircraft carrier launch ramp especially at the end I’m still waiting to see that um amazing launch that we had a few moments ago some slowmo still to be had in this one at The Time Tunnel solid at the back disc looking just want to play some music to be honest Brian won’t have that um yeah it’s raining it’s thankfully not heavy it could have been an awful lot worse than this but it’s already having an impact I’m afraid especially in the deeper part of the course the start ramp itself is something of a challenge um I haven’t seen anyone squeeing it just yet um and it looks pretty sheer it’s it’s as if they’ve just put the stickers onto the ramp itself occasionally you do get a start ramp kind of shrouded just a little bit in something a little bit more grippy Brandon Rivera about to start his run for us part of a u an effective I think in grenadiers team not least because egar bernau who starts as favorite for the race here is very much their focus oh that is starting to get very sketchy Brian um I’d be out with towels if I were them yeah we’ve seen in the past he you get the squeezies out and and try and kind of help dry it and I think they will have but you know with the way the rain just constantly kind of drizzling down a little bit um it’s always going to be those kind of wet patches so it’s just a case of telling all the riders that the start just roll off the start ramp don’t put the power down because you know you’ll get back wheel slip also depends on how effective your holder is as well again riding with Jordy warlock this is that section you were talking about Brian and a lot of respect being dialed in bit of standing water at the side of the road now not nice shil sh bit of a bunny hop try and land it straight gosh for non technical it’s technical few arst welcome back those you have been away just starting to struggle a little bit on the start ramp um if you put any power down on it it seems you’re going to slew the back wheel it’s not nice just about to take this left hander lean in go up to the uh the rise of the top of the Dyke wall here the banking of the river and Canal they I’ve got both here nonetheless he sets about just instigating a little bit of power and does a job settles himself back in hard to settle as well you’ve had a nervous start like that looks like what drizzle we had is kind of not intensified you can see the CL clouds actually breaking up it could have actually been stair rods as they say but I think we’ve kind of got away with that um despite that some of you have been away we are seeing some standing water on the course now and that is always a warning the Riders are heating it and especially when you’re getting some of the support riders coming through here Brian they’ll be being told by their teams not to do anything silly yeah that information will be we fed back there’ll be a lot of the sports directors looking at these images that we’re looking at as well um of course it looks as if it’s drying along past the river but when they turn left um and they head at speed into that kind of chicane where they have to kind of bunny hop that rich in the roads um that’s the bit it seems to be a little bit tricky Jordi wallup brings it in 26 seconds down up 78th Place now Evan par is still our leader head of Stefan Biser Ethan haon sha almea Finn fiser black who went off latly has found himself in fifth place I can tell you Larry warbass about to start [Music] off this to Cath and ag2r team have actually got feeling SC to look after uh Valentine Perry pant will make a noise when it comes to the mountains as well good support from Nan Peters Alex bodan as well they’ve got Paul Lera for the Sprint tomorrow just a solitary Sprint day we’ve got a hilly stage after that on stage three that’s Tuesday then we head into the mountains the paso del San gardo looking forward to and a few other tests as well in fact four Mountain stages back to back to back to back before we do another time trial to finish off this race next Sunday here’s that chicane you can see the water it looks like a little bit yeah I’m actually looking at the standing water there’s some kids sorry kids don’t want to blame you but I think they might have just emptied a um a little paddling pool build onto the course seen that before Brian was it in the jir Italia a restaurant actually emptied a a fish tank cuz it was the end of the day and uh the waiters decided to to uh they eaten all the fish they tipped you onto the course it was definitely their fault cuz we were there and it was blamed on some in fact I think it may have been blamed on children there you go one in doubt Brian blame the kids yeah always same my H I always blame the ks settle to yourselves in um coming off a minute margins I’m just seeing who we can tempt you with of those who are still to come waras has gone we’ve got uh Harrison Woods don’t know whether we see him we should see mov come off for meru um he is off in about uh 2 minutes time off the ramp as I say at thin pickings I mean those who’ve been out already I was looking forward to seeing shaa always goes strong Stefan Kung out door bettiol Cas ball vakam bam these are just my notes that I’ve uh highlighted Bri I haven’t seen any of them Adam Yates kelderman Matthews yeah Michael Matthews here Eve Lampa who of course is our leader Stefan bisa went off in that sort of golden section with Ethan hater that was around uh um 22 three local time here comes Brandon Rivera that’s not a bad run Brian considering the rain he must have held something back yeah I think it’s getting a little bit drier but none the same it’s you know a good uh time under the condition somebody running a little bit late um adrea he’s a rider for the mountains as well new signing but yeah a little bit late to the start ramp no real panic but he’s got a few seconds just to gathered himself good L I want him to go very well now I was actually wondering if they’d change the tires don’t think so it’s not heavy enough surely good lad cleanly away no time penalty for him oh gets the drive on even on the asphal there and he’s going to come over some storm drains right here there they are marked in red Brian all of those metal sections just in case it did rain wisely done I think yes indeed um some people like to um get themselves in that kind of situation um not a lot of time get up there and and and just go maybe not do what pedal dogado did quite a few years ago in the T France and miss it by over 2 minutes um but definitely you know just focus and and everybody knows what time they’ve got and and they’ve got team support in the uh kind of parck area to to help them all the way the the clock will start without you Brian would it it well there’s no waiting uh we’ve seen it in the past that Raiders have just climb up to start ramping off the goal 4ks left of this man’s run so just over 4 kilometers is the entire course so if you want to win it today then you are going to have to beat a time of 56.1 95 in fact 5 minutes and 5.58 I’m busy reading his speed uh 56.1 95 km per hour Stephan Biser um just yeah you got to be in those 56 is if you’re going to win I’m afraid biter 55.6 uh his average pace with though 5 minutes and 8 seconds Ethan hater a third of a second behind on a Podium just for the time being there is actually an intermediate Sprint uh an intermediate split I should say but it does count as well for a uh atiso award out here they are our timekeepers officially for this race and Felix stale stelli um basically turned himself inside out to get there first and did so teim o Kish by the way came very very close I’ve seen him in action pushing lamp at least at the intermediate split down into third place but uh is there still 800s of a second te o KES came in whether he was going for that competition he I don’t know a watch yeah but you don’t know you start a Time TR like this and some Raiders gone flat out for that competition 800s out he was four B 21 second Down The Misfortune of going off plate and our Misfortune as well because live television pictures from our host broadcasters here were supplying us with the pictures I’m afraid did not start until 8 minutes past 3 local time watch this for a takeoff you got to hit the modest breaks as well and get round this little sh bit of chicer um they all know the course Brian well scoped I think both last night and possibly this morning as well I imagine yeah they you can take videos off it you can ride around it as many times as you want it’s only 4.77 km so they’ll know and it’s there’s only certain kind of technical Parts rice off the ramp just seeing who I can pick out for you who’s um coming up imminently some is his NE spot by the way and stockley we’ll see how he goes Yan Christen is the one I’m waiting for um of those who are coming off in the next 10 minutes uh Lawson kic likewise and Oscar Rodriguez be interesting to see how he goes it’s over before you know out there Brian the best time trialists love to settle in don’t they and we’ve got none of that chance here no they’ve got another chance but it’s a can up H time trial at the end of this race this race has kind of G back to what it used to be like in the past where the time tral start time tral at the end um plenty of mountains kind of in the middle not a lot for the the sprinters and uh I think they they’ve going to G back to it but it’s a race that you know a lot of riders need to get in the licks um it’s the same with um terano Adriatic going par in East it’s you know the the preparation for Milan Remo what’s best uh they kind of clash with each other now we’ve got up to the tour we’ve get these two s and and in Criterium did often a was finished today whether it’s where you want to kind of finish your prep where you want to finish it a week later a week earlier um and of course there incentives to come to kind of different races with kind of start money and things like that but yeah there’s a lot of riders here and looking at the riders that we’ve got like you said Caron very difficult to kind of pick the bones out of where you’re at in this short time trial but I think the next few days will show us where where Riders are are definitely we’ve got I think any way kind a more open um race in our hands for the general classification so do I um oh you know I’m saying this about making the same noises every time they come off the ramp and it’s a disappointment Brian because I thought they would have been able to amend it Adria comes across the the line that’s not bad at all 17 seconds down uh finds himself in 30C position at the moment but 17 seconds only as a margin that was was as quick as we’ve seen most lately say that it’s probably the the quickest that we’ve seen um since the the rain came down yeah definitely but yeah look in that um start ramp you’re just off the start ramp and you’re into a left hand corner and then you’ve got two drains in the exit Okay they’ve marked it out but it’s not really kind of fast and easy um St to a Time Trav but I think most Riders are just wanting to stay out the way um you’re wondering where most of the Riders where that we’ve not seen probably tucked up in their hotel room in their bed just relaxing and watching it probably um 22 23 celsus so it’s reasonably uh warm I guess you might say but um the Swiss have still gone for the coats quite often in cold places as soon as you get the first lick of sunshine the t-shirts are out but still some of them here um yeah light constant wind today but I’ve seen it in a little bit it’s only supposed to be 11 kmph it’s certainly stronger than that not that long ago um but the rain is kind of holding on the Hills a little bit we’ve just kind of got drizzle that can actually be more difficult to ride with than out and out downpour because you’re never quite sure of your grip levels Brian on the variables the varying surfaces that you get naturally in any road no matter how good they are yeah I’d like you to rename those Hills mountains because definitely we’ll get mountains in this part of the world but yeah that’s always the case that when you get uh a course uh like this that you’ve looked at it most of looked at it this morning when it was Bor and dry then we had a bit of drizzle came down there unfortunately for a few Raiders and that’s why we had so many early starters early starters being riders that were thinking of doing it getting a result in this race um starting early because they wanted to miss these showers it hasn’t come too much and I think if it stays like this now Caron uh there’s a few late St starters may have got away with it I think you’re right gosh how motivated did stockle look when he got off the ramp there it looked like a a terrier been released um into a drain pipe it was quite remarkable let’s see what sort of pace we’ve got here this is the um where they get airborne Unfortunately they just just switched to the flatter section shrouded from us but nonetheless um motorcycle struggling to keep up often see that particularly on desense but on this the SEC they transitions more than Corners that we’re dealing with in fact these two corners Brian the one that comes away from the water and the one that’s up ahead next where they parked in a chicane where we’ve seen Riders indeed just bunny hopping and Landing again they’re far from easy aren they it doesn’t look like the stage map at all when you look at it in this um rectangle it’s one corner at start another when we come onto the the canal another when we come off it this one here and then it’s you know straight into the Finish but they’re not easy at all no that’s a that’s almost three and even four phases to that corner just the one we’ve seen now not nice at all then you settle yourself back down riding with stockley here this is an impressive start by him um they of to say of sports cars if they look fast they probably are fast and he looks fast Brian he looks absolutely determined love this yeah there’s a there’s a few Raiders are look fast um whether they are fast to wait and see come the end but um yeah we still got um Lampard B hater uh 1 two three for the moment um but you know there’s a lot of riders that can I think one of them you’ve already picked out y chrisan um definitely for me uh as a rider let’s not forget Los and CR don’t know what kind of form he’s on former um time Trav champion of the USA so and there’s a few others towards the end as well so but we we will not be um um deciding who’s going to be one not just yet Marco fro just about to get himself started he’s got the thousand yard stare takes it sensibly cheer on out the back of the shirro Italia as well one of those Riders that’s um re-engaging with his racing hasn’t raced since the end of the Ziro what not very long ago was it what are we talking about 11 days so something of a break that others have decided not to take but uh let’s see how he goes Jenny coming across the line 23 seconds down we’re getting some faster times now um we have had some moisture it’s not as bad as it was um but not as dry either as it has been earlier on here’s Yan Kristen we were we’ve been busy talking about him certainly somebody that has in the past turned a time trial pedal let’s see what he does this time by never looks the most powerful but the amount of power he generates for a very slight figure can be outstanding let’s see and away he goes um always exciting this man um saw in Roman D that um he’s um you know he can actually turn it on on a day such as this in fact joy to watch him actually in romandy I was blessed to be out there and on site for the race uh that in the French speaking part of Switzerland always thought it was in Congress that they have these two races one’s the tour of Switzerland which is very very tight in terms of its parkour and even tighter is the tour of romen D and it used to be romen D that had more Mountains than the tour of Switzerland and it’s completely the opposite this year Romany more Hills really um I think it’s fair to say this very much a mountainous event despite the fact that we’re playing in The Valleys at the moment the flood planes and uh the reason you have a flood plane is because there plenty of water and thankfully much of it staying in the sky we’re expecting a downpour in the afternoon that’s why most of the big names went off early that said it’s now dry and I wonder I’m actually wondering whether There is almost a modest Advantage because the way the wind’s blowing now this has been a Tailwind on the open section it’s kind of swirled around a little bit with the weather system moving close by but it looks like the wind has kind of abated this is a Tailwind still being described to us but a shrouded for the headwind section on the return so I’m wondering if the wind does pick up and because we actually turn into a builtup section which protects the Riders largely from what would be a cross headwind in the Finish whether it might be that there is an advantage to going late I guess we’re going to find out which means those of you who are wanting to do something cheeky um price Bon who goes on later and S C Anderson might be able to pull something out of the bag let’s wait and see it’s always a bit of a gamble when I saw those two big names going very late Brian I thought maybe they’ve just taken a chance on this one today with the the weather may change as kic starts here quite possibly um different teams have different strategies of course um you know you might take that risk you always consider the weather um you always consider you know who’s in who’s in your team as well whether you can go last or not um some of the Riders might get that opportunity but yeah once it’s down in black and white you know you have to go with whether there’s rain or not in the conditions but young Christian is definitely treating this very very seriously he certainly is now then he’s um he’s got to be careful through this section oo got all the way over to the gravel there and the Motorcycle struggling to keep up with him well always uh an exciting car to watch he always goes all in Brian you could never play poker with him yeah I love watching him uh there when he one his first stage uh one his wor um road race in a um a bro and yeah just one of these um real attacking Raiders I covered legu at the start of the year as well where he showed he showed well he’s got a multiple year contract and no no reason why not he has shown the credentials to be a big player over the next few years well he’s um he GED himself for this corner Brian he’s obviously got fear of it been warned of it I think and of course you can imagine the DS saying look just dial it down ever so slightly but look at him now this is where he said you can get on the power as soon as you come out that’s precisely what he’s doing this is brilliant love watching every corner every corner he’s come out he’s accelerated with probably a longer Sprint than anybody I’ve seen so far so he looks apart he looks strong and um see what he can do come the Finish but he’s he’s leaving nothing out there love this right let’s see what he brings in um if he gets himself a top 10 that will be outstanding considering he’s he’s one of the uh the late comers uh meanwhile fro getting some good times here 15 seconds down 28th and we almost Dar pull the camera away and watch him slow down here because this man’s coming through welcome back we’re being thrilled here with Yan Kristen look at that he’s got 30 seconds can’t see the markers at the side of the road as to how much he’s got but we’re getting some very quick times coming in quite late here this is great to see 500 M with a margin of uh what 16 seconds Brian yeah it’s going to be close he’s not going to be the fastest time today but it’s a another excellent performance from this young Swiss Raider and he’ll be happy with this he certainly will it’s going to go read against him I’m afraid but something to cheer for for the fans here top five would be lovely for him lot of riders encamped in the top 10 it may well be that he drifts even beyond that but we’re seeing some super times at the very end can he hold on to a top 10 for the locals here this will be brilliant no 13th Place you saw he volted from eth to 13th there Brian in about a third of a second but 12.6 seconds down is remarkable considering it’s a damper course and it had to be given respect and he gave that on the chicane for the return that he had to cope with and he coped very well indeed he did two seconds down and the fastest ra at the finish at the first checkpoint that’s after 1 kilometer that’s a TSO checkpoint an individual prize for the fastest man to that point currently being led by the Swiss Rider Felix styley um so he’s still there he’s been challenged um by team o Kilik who passed that point 800s of a second behind so for the moment anyway da will be in a Podium getting his t- show watch well we’ll be seeing him at the end today you staying with us on digital and I’m sure we’ll be uh waiting for the U for The Malt to be handed out um arcas also coming through and we’re seeing a lot of commitment actually coming into the corners here they mean this George arcas camera pans to find him and there he is I actually like this course spride it is it’s um it it looked when I first looked at it just like a rectangle um but these Corners are are are are clearly a little bit more technical um and further investigation but I would just looking at um stockley Yan stockley who looked good uh well he finished 115th at 46 seconds 46 seconds down yet that’s a shame I was looking good and being good well we did say it yeah when you look on the Ragged Edge that may be that you need to dial in some style of course uh Lots some credit coming in as you said Brian in the past he’s been able to pull it out of the bag but he won’t have liked this distance will he no uh maybe a little bit short for him um I think by the looks of things just going of going through the tions you see a couple of riders just throwing the bike towards the the line I think that was just I would say l and credit just done a professional performance there just get it out the way and then look forward to the rest of the week well I don’t think it’s probably a uh a route for Rodriguez who has uh is about a minute into his run now we’re riding with Aras um yeah Rodriguez will be one that we pick up I think a little bit later on as well that’s uh Oscar Rodriguez for Indus grenadiers I want to see how he goes I imagine when you have a team that’s got very defined pecking order Brian last thing you want is somebody showboating on a day like today especially if it’s getting a little bit dangerous and we might see some dialed in performances deeper into our run today but to be fair a lot of them look like they’ve been given free reain yeah with such a short time travel 4.77 km you can afford for everybody to go all in sometimes you can a back off coming into a race it’s good good to get uh you know open the lungs the breathing and things of that then this will certainly do that R Costa being counted in he’s got his pet sea turtle on his head do you know I’m actually getting fond of these helmets I know it sounds a bit odd but CU I’ve ribed them in the past but this was I mean this used to be the most outlandish lid we had and it’s been superseded by things that are actually make this look quite modest now Brian big lad there doing doing it for the big Lads yeah you’re lasting what 10 m there on a mountain bike look it’s it’s it’s the future um you know everybody’s looking at these Gams that they can try and make and it’s it’s minute um and they not just looking at helmets are looking at everything you know there was a case of sock blength look at the sock blength um here it’s supposed to come halfway up the um you know the calf um for me that looks rather kind of high but look at there’s a lot of these kind of small things that they’re all looking into ever had got on a recumbent BR I haven’t no no neither have I I like to have of you yeah I’m kind of leaving that that position to pedalos usually with a beer or fruit juice or milk kids let’s not forget um Oscar Rodriguez riding along with him doesn’t seem overly um comfortable I’m afraid for the time being with his helmet just making a light adjustment AAS comes home and uh 25s deficit good enough for 83rd Place shows you how tight it is here lollipop man almost uh chopping the helmet there um he’s not happy he’s still trying to adjust his helmet not quite sure what the issue is Brian but um he doesn’t look comfortable and it’s Disturbed him coming into that corner and this is not not the most focused Drive we’ve seen a way out of it either no it’s quite a contrast to Y Christian wasn’t it head s we’ve seen some great performances by him over the years haven’t we I think he he must be one of the most underrated Riders comp peleton uh every now and again he he pops up with a you know a really nice Victory um and as one of these Riders it’s just stealth mode the whole time now he’s looking at what time they finish who who’s still to come oh come on I’m going to miss out my starters my M bush he just all three [Music] Vols we tease um Sun’s come out Shadows are sharpening little Sun spot for rosta there you go um well the threat of rain it made itself felt but has abated still got time for it to come back I guess Brian um last Rider to go off will be in about half an hour’s time yeah I hope it doesn’t come back do I hope folded over water doesn’t come back as well but you’re never going to let me forget that no as long as it’s bright like this and um I’ve got big ears I remember everything there we are well one day he’ll release big ears and we can get that nauy program back on the road uh Rodriguez then uh coming home in 69th Place that was about as random as I can get today Mr random oh dear I’m looking forward to this week Brian I must admit tour of Switzerland are you yeah I am it’s going to be good fun provided you keep that smile upon your your chops which we know can have just a little bit you know if he doesn’t get his porge in the morning yeah it’s it’s not one of those settling days today we can’t really start describing time traling positions and and eror Advantage because the the the chance of actually using that even body form really is is quite limited on a day like this so tight a very atypical time trial for you today just 4.8 km in length it’s kind of more of a Sprint really than anything else if you imagine a a 4k’s out approach to a Sprint with a couple of pesky twists and turns before you’re allowed to open it up kind of explains the day today we’ve had um half decent performances by the likes of um considering what we’ve actually got here by the likes of V dear and Mark cish is not particularly targeting the Sprint tomorrow but the mountains he says that uh it’s all part of his buildup for the Tour of France of course you got to get through those mountains to get to the Sprints here’s one of his teammates spella it’s actually a strong team they’ve sent uh Mark C’s given principal status within aadar but um it’ll be backed up by case ball we might actually get a chance to go for the Sprint tomorrow so if the odds Along on case ball it might well be your chance toh watch Mark CES lead him out I mean I’m you know I’m imagining these things quis of ball is clouded at the moment um 54 the reason the Cloudy 54th place for Co the reason the cloud the the clouding in the crystal ball regarding Mark cavish is he’s got one aim this year Brian it doesn’t matter what goes before it there’s a t there’s a stage on the tour to France he wants y definitely he’s got multiple options but um that’s a decent time there from a Costa formerly Mr Twi that is true and somebody likewise who’s part of a very very accomplished team for EF education but Richard carapaz did not deliver when it came to the time TR that’s time he’s got to find when it gets to the mountains that’s made me wonder whether steinhauser is um who went much stronger here Brian is perhaps got the nod within e education well we’ll see it’s good to have multiple options I think we’ll have to kind of wait and see until we get the uh the first kind of Mountain Stage who’s got the form who hasn’t but you know Ry Costa always turns out a good performance multiple winner of this race in the past um nice to see turn out a good time travel isn’t his type of um discipline um but yeah they have got a strong team here definitely steinhouse is a kind of standout performance recently for them um and it would be good to see how he comes into this race from the jro toala currently running in second place with Stefan Biser our e education easy post um they also had a very strong run here by Alberto bettiol great Classics man somebody who you know um can really make a noise and in fact he’s on extremely good form at the moment the grer price uh the count on Aral I was hoping we were going to see that before this race but didn’t happen but he did win mayn stage race the credit Mutual there Milan Torino also went to him former winner of Flanders of course near 12 beses got himself a Podium spot this year as well so Beto has refound himself at the age of 30 and he’s got a very very good team underneath him with the EF education so be interesting to see how we go when we get to The High Ground but um as we said Richard caras today not having the best of time trials considering what indeed we know he is capable of doing on occasion but the mountains could tell a different story here’s Julian BAU from Leal Trek they come here with defending Champion shelm Mo the Great Dane you know say about Great Dan Long Legs like sausages let’s see mattius Shellos could be your man um let’s see what else they’ve got I think he’s just plan a plan a b c and d is mattius shos they got t-bo nice for the Sprints tomorrow but really it’s all about one man within little Trek I think right it looks that way anyway uh and theyve got a good team roundabout just saw Julian Bernard start and he’s one of these Raiders that will either if he gets let off the leash got in the away all day or sit at the front all day Conrad produced a good time so did MMA mosa he’s such an engine uh tibo nice be good to see how how he gets on in this race samman as well so they’ve come here I think with a team of trying to win this race again let’s get on I think they’ve got a good chance as well let us see ring with Julian man now good pace of about him and trimming the road nicely as well something you’ve always got to be very mindful of of course leans it [Applause] in that’s been not as difficult a corner as um I thought perhaps it might have been to be honest yeah it’s all about shell MOS um T nice impressed in the mountains but um I guess when we got to Norway and that kind of really is the nearest we’ve had to this in terms of ter bra that really uh kind of trimmed his feathers just a little bit um bu mon he’s not the man named underwater um it’s not I wouldn’t have thought to be at the absolute pointy end today but you never know um Patrick Conrad Sam Omen yes let’s see um I think it’s all in for Shellos as far as legal Trek are concerned but you know they’ve gone all in for him before and um he’s here as our defending Champion so you know doesn’t get much better than that um yeah in fact I was just looking at last year when it was that he took the lead of it it was into V ol on stage three so yeah um time to be bowed wind seems to have Eed it was these trees were much more Disturbed earlier on I think we’re going to a smooth finale here Brian which we weren’t expecting no when I looked at just beforehand um it was there was very little wind at all um and then when I saw some of the uh the Riders when we came live it was you know blowing a little bit bit more of a Tailwind along this canal here but um yeah it seemed to really have eved let’s have a look at this I want to see it we got the ride through here that’s nice that was one of the best lines I’ve seen taken through there actually got it very very close to the gravel that was well and truly in control the situp comes in a few moments time it’s the next transition um as we hook back to uh Xander balma for Vin fantini glad to see this team still thriving Brian um I was worried about them a few years ago um you can never miss them can you no it’s a very multim national team um this is a young Swiss Rider on here and yeah it’s you know one of the teams that’s been renowned for having so many sponsors on it um of course they’ve got a Scott um they’ve just finished the race in zlm tour Mar Stewart who just finished that race earlier today but yeah good to see them here Q 365 um Damon hon of course is their main their main man at um David La Cruz Rose his head up in uh romendy but uh it’s uh it’s going to be a long road to try and indeed do something here they have got Mr Bad milk um Mr sour milk bad ly doesn’t mean that by the way um they’ve also got bambia and um yeah I hope hope they go well back with Alexander balma I think he’s possibly the best bet for this team actually the Swiss um local knowledge local support and just the desire to go that give that extra little bit of percentage when you’re racing on home roads it counts for something Brian it does uh we are in lonstein this is the uh to SP the producers are always going to favor um the Swiss Riders when you know they’re looking at you know who to follow and who not to follow there’s only so many camera bikes they can’t follow everybody um most of the can of faster Raiders have already gone but still two or three other Raiders very capable of challenging evil art who’s still our leader at the moment this is a very strong performance by Julie berau yes 31st base but 16.7 seconds down he properly went for that I’m impressed Brian yep well his dad was a very good um time trialist in the past but Julian Bernard is known for being that ruler type of Rider um clearly going well and and we were just talking about a moment ago that they’ve sent a team with defense in mind for scalos and you know they’re all popping up with some strong performances nice tracking shot that we’ve got here by pass a bridge that they’re very very fond of let us see how we roll today um apologies momentarily just uh telling Brian to boot his sound he’s looking very confused yeah my sound okay yeah you were roboting a little bit not just the dancing here’s Mark Hershey just uh about to get himself off the ramp and underway and this is one of those riders that is so exciting quite frankly in so many ways may have just gone off the boil the last couple of Seasons but you start thinking about yourself a couple of seasons ago and he was very much there he’s been on the ascendency and I think Mark Hershey might produce something today let’s have a look how motivated he is it’s kind of smooth off the ramp which makes me think that uh maybe not let’s see Hershey is like the uh the Earth while spawning salmon Brian no need to take the bait but sometimes he does he just very instinctive Rider yeah a few years ago when he first came to prominence it was like wow where where did he come from and he just kind of plateaued a little bit um but certainly this year he’s starting to pop up some real strong performances but he’s been there for a long period of time let’s see what you can do here in the welcome back those of you who’ve been away um yeah Mark Hershey super Talent as um I’m sure you all know he’s just got himself off the ramp as we’re riding along here with Zander balma meanwhile Q 365 with B LTI come through smoothly there that’s a man who knows this course like the back of his hand he scoped this so often iag the local police force have been quite happy to close the road on his behalf he actually looks like a time trialist as well Brian yeah big and strong um this has just going through the first checkpoint but not getting these um you know taken using all the road watch me uh we’re not getting the the times very very quickly but one of these riders that super motivated to do well in this right from the start and um so far so good taking every inch of the the T mark to try and get to one of the quickest times just uh the clouds have come back to us we had a momentary uh laps in the rain and I think it is still dry thankfully just looking to see if the the wind is actually helping him down the uh the ramp here just looking at the way this man is riding this course BR and he he looks smooth as silk at the moment and this may well beely something very special I hope so um because I want him to keep his options open he’s part of a team that is um very much part of a support network if he goes well today and indeed picks up some bonus seconds when he gets to the Sprint tomorrow and that’s not beyond the RIT of man depending on how hard um uh Sprint stage the only one of this race is ridden um he can pop up on days like that and on days like this as well yeah very versatile by a lot to just finish in 35 seconds down but yeah her she um yeah can can stay with the best um over every kind of area of of cycling um he does looks smooth good here like I was saying just a moment ago that um it seems as if he’s been there and thereabouts for for quite a long time now um over the last few months he’s been kind of racing quite a lot others haven’t but you know if he’s not motivated to do Tois swis then you know why not and I think by the looks of things taking a few risks early on to try and get that top result today well let’s see if it comes his way he’s certainly been trimming every single one of the Apex is like he’s done it in his sleep yeah quite remarkable um he took he’s almost 5 seconds behind in that first checkpoint really well that’s an awful lot to do let’s see almost hard to run a negative split on a short day like this B There is um very difficult he went through that checkpoint at 121 uh 87 um East Lampard was 117 the fastest is 116 of course but they are just going for that prize uh his sink was 122 a little bit further behind so I’d be surprised if Hershey was uh was pushing the the top three [Music] here let’s see through the tunnel of Love here plenty of that abounding in the tour of switzland 2 kilometers to go so he’s um just over the halfway mark as it stands right now always has this offset cleat just a slight turning to his right foot um almost the mirror image of me I have a turning on my left foot strangely you got to get as comfortable as you possibly can be back with Mark Hershey no rolling time on him I’m afraid Brian but that’ll pick up as the wind is just venting between the buildings here so you can see the cordons some of them blowing some of them not depending on whether he’s in the gaps I want Mark Hershey to go well not only here today but in the entire race just coming up to 500 me go he certainly giv everything he’s rocking all over the bike um wants to get you know pulled back as many seconds as as he can almost 5 Seconds down after 1 kilm but certainly leaving nothing out there um Johan yobs the Swiss riding for mine here comes Mark Hershey 200 me to go he’s going to find himself in the top 20 I’ll be bound possibly lucky even to be there the way that everyone’s encamped and indeed it starts to spin out and away from him right now but a strong performance by him 19.74% ran really did spin away but Mark Hershey still riding beautifully this year and it goes on he meant that yeah he did s you could see that at the uh the first or the second turn after the uh he started his efforts using every inch of the road um just looking at Stan Van Tri um of Al indon he’s 1500s of a second uh at the atiso kilometer so whether he can keep that going we’ll have to going to wait and see but it’s another super fast time there 400 met remaining for hessin again one of those riders that um we used to speak in hushed terms very much part of an effective team though Brian they’ve sent a decent one here Ben tet actually gets principal status best I think chance for them is possibly Shan utre you also come with Stein MIT and wilker Kerman strong strong outfit definitely def not the best of luck heavy with injuries and you know I’m really interested to see how Ben tul goes he’s still on the the list to potentially go to the to France um but let’s see what he can do here I think that possibly expends explains some of the investment that the teams are putting that the Riders are putting in here um they’re not hard and fast the team rosters for the tour just yet there’ll be a few places that are open for grabs and this is the last chance for many to actually make take a claim for the trip yeah most of them have already um put their documentation in with a with a list of potential they’ll have their team plus reserves um and you have to be on that list if you if you want to race uh of course and we know that Ben tet is on that list just in case um certainly a good substitute um you know kind of fresh ground for him he’s here let’s see what he can do he hasn’t raced too much for his new team my ler bike but um it’s never late they never I’m hoping that the rain comes late in fact once we’ve actually finished today we’re hearing there’s an electrical storm um now if that all starts up then it can actually compromise our pictures as well so um don’t start keyboard worrying if uh indeed we start just having some bumps and bruises with the pictures cuz electrical storms are a real nightmare when it comes to microwave links and the like and uh the organizers transmitting these pictures to us meanwhile back at the start R Fabian linhardt gets himself underway viny as he is um affectionately known I’m not his mate but you know open to office looks like a pleasant chat we have then we have U Marine Vander then it’ll be Valentine perip always like watching him uh we have Alexis Rena Johan price Pon who could go very quickly Benedetti Velasco who won’t be bad gulami then Crow Anderson and mosa to finish us off today this is vanab the last of the EF education boys to come off the ramp here and they’ve had a good run today albeit looking like they’re good for second place with Stefan Biser let’s see how this B goes well the start ramp doesn’t look the threat it has been and um no fear at all of the storm drains there just went straight over them good lad well we haven’t seen those who are likely to be making a big noise deeper into this race not too we missed a few of them I’m afraid because so many of the big names in this race went off early and the reason they did was they were trying to avoid rain it did come however it has abated um the drizzle that we had the breeze keeps coming and going I must say um you can see the the trees just nodding a little bit and indeed we’re going to finish it in the dry by the looks of things as b b gets off and underway like watching Perry PTO in action I never quite know what to expect physically when you look at him he looks like he’d struggled to deliver but he can be phenomenal bran he’s nothing of him isn’t it but when the road goes upwards he really shows his strength um had a magnificent jro detal didn’t he with that stage win came of age and um yeah it was a really emotional win for him yobs comes home 18 seconds down good run but uh out in the 45 you won’t see him on the graphic at the end today he’ll be there but just not included we’re seeing our top 10 and uh as it stands at the moment that top 10 um yeah I mean it’s it’s not unexpected um it rounds out with Wilco kelderman but we’ve had some strong performances being close at hand some very good runs as well and Nic see Mark cavish just keeping it very smooth here is the aforementioned Barry p who just started I mean there’s there’s nothing more to him than a couple of bread sticks but boy oh boy does he generate power when it comes to the mountains an absolute joy to watch as Brian was saying in the juralia I expect we’re going to get some greatness out of him here that is the line they’re all taking they will have seen Hershey go through and thought do you know what that’s worth doing by yeah exactly and you you want to get a clean enough right you don’t want to put anything at risk of course A lot of these Pro bike riders now spending so much time in their time travel bikes um it’s such a different feeling to your normal road bike um so yeah spending time on it going around these Corners using every inch of the T mark to to try and keep your momentum up and here we go Steve dialing in he was uh with me in Glasgow for part of my standup tour and very much enjoyed himself and um I enjoyed myself as well I’ve got to say glad go was just living up to the billing as the friendliest city in the UK it was just fantastic loved it um Hauck coming home this is a very strong performance Brian I must say he’s at the end of his run he had 50 met to go and suddenly we’re getting these out of the bag performances very good look at that yeah it was um German Rider um can it come in a w now uh starting to show some strong performances um rode well in the first kilometer and and kept that momentum up busy uh Roy kein want to know if uh any of the stages will be shown live uh on Linea um I don’t know how you’re asking me Bri Roy maybe you found us now but yes they will be deeper into this week the uh tour of Switzerland um questions coming in as well as to whether Riders would um benefit from a a mirror on the um the bars to help them in these eror positions I think it was actually proposed at one time and then um talking about a scope for Chris FR back in the day the now patriarch it seems of uh Israel Premier Tech want a guy to have on board to impart his his knowledge and support phenomenal uh but yes um it was not to be allowed go uh very strict rules in fact they put the time trial bikes on a jig at the beginning of the day it still has to look like a bike even if it doesn’t feel like one Brian out there yeah it’s it’s it’s something that um you know everybody’s looking at this these kind of small margins and it’s small it’s not even 1% nowadays um but it’s constant working to get the best possible position of course and you know most of these wind tunnels the wind is facing some you know in most bik races it’s coming from different directions but yeah the the big worry is about you know where the the head is positioned you know looking down so you put your head into your hands look at your front wheel that’s the the best possible aerodynamic pos position we’re talking about um C and you know that’s the the danger uh with everything when you put your head down van B comes in a 16 second margin um he might actually feature quite strongly when we get to sprinting tomorrow actually and don’t be surprised if he has a go in the Hills likewise the day after and he can go over the hills he’s already shown that this year um he can get over climbs can Sprint well and doesn’t mind a hly race well that explains why he was so dialed in for that time trial and good good luck to him as well and the team price pederson’s just going through the first kilometer in 120 96 so about 3 seconds behind our current leader at Finish Wow Let’s see um to me it looks like the conditions have now become rather favorable Brian for the some of the late Runners so yeah why not good to see s Crow Anderson this is going to be another decent performance here Brian you know it look at that that’s properly dialed in he’s ready for this so we I think he’s the only Rider now left no disrespect to anybody else out there agre he’s done it in the past I’m not sure what form he’s in at the moment but if he’s close to his best then I think he’s the only Rider that could possibly take this away from from a lampar let’s see if he gets there son crra um the distance that we’ve got and the terrain let’s see um it’s been a long time since he had a good time trial result but I think this might well suit him certainly looks like he wants it and the first rider for a long time Brian we’ve seen actually accelerate down the ramp because it’s dry enough for him to do it here we go yeah power’s away disn’t he uh around the first Corner um no worry about the the drain covers cuz it’s dry and off he goes um we get the first point um in just just over a minute’s time at 1 kilometer yeah he might actually steal the Tissa watch from um the Swiss rid who is at the top of the timing sheet there at the intermediate um Felix sty holds that at the moment 8 hunds of a second clear of Teo Kish the nonetheless price pedon we with him and check that out Brian that is up for now 19 seconds with 5 minut to go he’s not going to get there it’s going to be time no it’s going to be outside 10 seconds isn’t it by the looks of things 400 m to go so um yeah could be closer to kind of 20 seconds now let’s see 200 M I think uh yeah should we say 14 we’re running a a little sweep here three four I’ve said my number he’s cted on he’s not allowed to say it now last 50 m let’s have a look oh 12.6 14 place for price pson so last man is sa C anderson2 they are clowns that’s 5 Seconds slow than than lampart at the first kilometer so he’s going to have to do something down this stretch down by the uh the canal here and you know really pull out the bag because it does look as if um e Lampard was going to do what he did at Jody France only a few years ago it does and all credit to him as well 3 seconds to the goods ahead of stepan viser and Ethan hater that’s your Podium as it stands and unless we get a very very surprising uh unless we get an extraordinarily surprising uh negative split being run here which is very difficult to do on a very short course like this cuz it’s all in this is a Hoy Al vad this is the local football team Brian um it’s a bigger Stadium than Paisley is it no no of course not the buddies are got a better Stadium than that we go to Europe we might be playing the uh the the Buddy Stadium Brian who are you you and me ah wa I haven’t told ran yet yeah yeah yeah yeah you thinking cheffield Wednesday no that’s not um not for a while preseason training maybe right let’s have a look come on do you know what the shot I always want um it’s being Demir to me too often um deep section front here yeah let’s see how he goes means business but um I think the hopes of pulling this out of the bag are pretty pretty slim here Brian yeah with with no running clock it’s very hard to see it’s you know we’re looking at body language here and everybody’s looked fastest whether they are or not um it’s only the time that will tell but to take back 5 Seconds over the short period um of 4.7 km I think it’s it’s going to be very difficult for him to do I think e lampart he’s probably falling asleep already uh someday we’ll have to kind of wake him up because I think this is the the only Rider he was going to possibly worried about so it does look as if as we come into the the the last corner for sing crow that EES Lampard could be um doing it for a second time kind of stealing the victory came in here under the radar you have to say good time Trav in the past one the stage of the the first stage of to France and took the yellow Jersey but um and a former national champion at discipline so yeah it’s just the former guy coming into here suggested that you know there were some good Riders and I think Stephan bisser probably deeply disappointed he was um 3.18 uh seconds shot indeed and this despite the absence of a a running clock here unfortunately is not going to be our um that dramatically close um by the time they do fade in the clock for you it will be green but I’m afraid he’s not going to have enough of a cushion Brian although he’s giving it his best shot I’m must say yeah they all have he’s he’s come here he was one of the most animated off the the start ramp really you know wanted to get a good result here uh one up for grabs he’s done it in the past but you know still waiting it’s not going to be today um again it’s going to be a around the uh the kind of 14 seconds Mark um in deficit 21 there we go let’s see Brian looks like he’s got a good shot here add it oh look at that 150 me to go St CR Anderson clock’s gone red against him h no chance of a Podium 14 says Brian will work out who got there quicker uh yeah I think my previous guess was actually closer than yours by uh so volon on you um some C Anderson more or less draws this to a close we still have have to wait for yakobo mosa to finish um he came off the ramp but we thought we’d stay with cry Anderson cuz he had a good chance of getting the victory today uh thanks so much for those of you who’ve dropped in today there’s moska coming right now um we’ll uh we’ll pick him back up in a a few moments time there’s the target time for lampar 5 05 and 58 mosa well countdown for him as uh we hook up with his right now for Leal Tre he’ll be keeping his powder dry to help lead out T nice tomorrow I think this may well feel like something of a ride through clock’s already red and there he is not bad run what have we got to look forward to Brian no disrespect to this man but he’s uh he’s going to be uh way down in the 40s I imagine by the time this finally happens for him possibly 80s there it is 94 it was ’90s Brian holding up a sign saying ’90s all right on his even well it’s a um I guess you could say a quietistic in a bad way I I guess on this day uh had the rain come in and spoiled proceedings we kind of got away with it there Brian and a good winner we did we did indeed we just had a a slight shower of rain um the qus the way through can slowed up some but I think most had taken the heat in the weather uh forecast and decided to start early unfortunately we didn’t see them um and pretty much uh it was actually Binger it just finished in as we came on air um but Lampard Binger hater your top three today indeed there it is sh maer just nicked out of it fin Fisher black in fifth place today confirmation of how they finished with evil ire winning the day by a margin of 3 seconds over Stefan biger Ethan hater setting his stall out for en grenadiers very good result for him gets a Podium 4 seconds in a re Almeida as you saw and the rest um not too damaging for many there’s a few that would have liked to have gone better um but that’s the nature of the game Brian um you can only play the hand you given and some went extraordinarily well one man better than others Eve Lampa in the [Music] sunshine nice work # ride for Gino in acknowledgement of Gino made of course sadly no longer with us after this race last [Music] year if Lambert it’s your second stage win here at the to the Swiss 5 years after the first one at the age of 33 it’s a pretty sweet day for you isn’t it absolutely uh didn’t expect to to beat the Swiss specialist besser and Kung and uh I’m really proud that I that I could do it I know the distance fits me fits me well and uh yes I’m really really happy and proud yes you were waiting for two years for winning a world tour race um since you’ve won the time trial at the at the tour to France were there some times in which you were doubting about winning again yes uh at one moment I started to doubt myself but I never gave up the belief and uh I kept training as good as possible uh so uh it really gives me a lot of satisfying feeling that I uh that I could take the victory today and now you get also the leader Jersey are you ready to defend it yes I think tomorrow is a really nice stage uh probably uh a lot of sprinters can make it also so uh let’s hope it becomes a Sprint stage with a small group and uh let’s try to keep the Jersey thank you very much congrats again I will see how long they manage that task um by the time we get to The High Ground I don’t think it’s going to be in their uh possession we shall see that’s um this how it stands at the moment Evan p no Bon seconds today but they will come taking the day little bit further down the order um surprises for you Brian and disappointments as well from this list um it was always going to be a mixed bag uh with the distance of 4.77 I think Eve Lampard just said Binger and and Kung Binger got second Kung was a little bit further down um so I think uh Kung was maybe the the disappointment nice to see Ethan hater so motivated went out an an appropriate time was able to get the power down no fear of those drain covers or indeed of a sticky ramp didn’t quite upset Evan par out there made sure that he had indeed stake a claim to a Podium Place Ste biger would have loved to have done it for the locals all of these Riders going off very early before we joined our live transmission uh but Biga super effective and indeed made it count very very strong performance by him just missing out on the uh
