My tires are 30/32 Continental GP 5000 S TRs, run with basic butyl tubes. I’ve had 3 flats on them in the past two weeks—all from sneaky bits of sharp gravel on road shoulders. Even if I don’t get a flat on a ride, I have to pluck out gravel shards embedded in the tire after every ride. By now, each tire has 5 to 10 gashes on the surface, like those pictured.
Do these gashes trap debris and make future punctures more likely?
If so, should I just replace the tires? Any more puncture-resistant recommendations?
