Croatia vs France World Cup Final in Zagreb!
When Croatia made it to the final against France, we had to take the opportunity to race through Slovenia, east into Croatia to be in Zagreb for the finals. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity!
The city centre was absolutely mental, the home crowd was boozing and partying for what felt like days straight. They might not have won the match but you wouldn’t have been able to tell with how they were celebrating.
We managed to escape the city the next day and started cycling east towards the Danube, the days were pretty chill but not a long going on in that part of Croatia. In fact the closer you get the Serbian border the obvious the signs of recent war are. It’s a such a shame to see, but also made me question a lot about my knowledge of these very recent wars and how much I didn’t know.
We ran into some colourful locals along the way including a bastard dog that stole my pants. I also got my first and last puncture and flat tyre of the trip!

I was getting the empathetic tremors imagining you getting more and more stuck in the crowd haha. Another smashing video! #10:43hasthebest
Haha wow, sounds like this was a pretty intense part of the journey! Being stuck in the center, the this is it guy, hahaha
This is something special! 😉
Just halfway through binge watching your vids at the moment dude. I did a 6-month cycle tour of Europe back in 2019. I caught a ferry from Bari in Italy and cycled up the coast of Croatia to Rijeka and then headed inland and crossed into Slovenia. Croatia was probably my favourite country. I swam every day as it was July and stinking hot and the sea was warm. The people were the friendliest of any I met across Europe. Countless times locals would give me food or go out of their way for me. I’d stop at restaurants to ask for my water bottles to be filled and they’d fill them with ice without me having to ask. It was just sublime, everything about it. Along the coast there are deserted fire roads that are perfect for wild camping, usually with an insane view of the sunset on the Adriatic, watching the sun dip into the sea or behind one of the islands. It was also cheap as chips and the burek was out of this world. Good times.
