Took a solo trip for my bday this week down to Yucca Valley to check out what's what. I was planning to do the Joshua Tree overnighter from bikepacking.com next spring but I'm thinking I'll probably need a beefier bike – these gravel tires aren't gonna cut it for most of this sand! It's been an awesome trip so far regardless.
Ryan Campground in the park btw has 3 sites for bikers, $5 each, 2 max per site. Pretty wide open during the middle of the week. There are definitely some connecting trails nearby, but again some sections can get quite sandy and require some hike-a-biking if you're running gravel tires. Anyone else play around with some 24 hr overnighters in this area?
