I’m looking to upgrade from my 2005 Specialized Dolce (23 lb aluminum bike with Shimano Sora groupset) to start getting into triathlons. Trying to strike the balance of allowing me to get faster while remaining comfortable for long rides (50+ miles) with an ideal budget of ~$1500 with ability to stretch to $2k

These were the best options I’ve found on Facebook marketplace.

Trek Emonda – all original components. 17.9 lbs from the trek website.

Trek Domane – 18.5 lbs from trek website. lists the following upgrades:
“Full ultegra Drivetrain -11 speed. Compact crankset 172.5 11/32 cassette.
New rotors/pads
New Bontrager xxx light- carbon 42cm bars
Bontrager full carbon xxx light 110cm stem
Specialized power pro saddle
New Industry Nine wheels
New Continental 5000 tires 32’
New bar tape
Bike is super clean and shifts and brakes excellent

Blackburn carbon cages included.

  • if you don't want the wheelset I will discount the price. I also have DT SWISS Carbon wheels if interested. “

Which would you pick and why? Are these fair prices, or is there room to negotiate?
