A lovely 50 mile loop taking in some of the Cotswolds (Gloucestershire) and then passing through parts of Oxfordshire to visit the Great Tythe barn at Great Coxwell, then lastly along the Icknield way and back into Wiltshire.
I cycled just over 50 miles and had plenty of fuel in the tank.
The Insta 360 performed well but I held it wrong and managed to get a lot of the stitch line in some of the clips, (User error) I’m still on a learning curve with it but what a powerful tool it is, very clever tech!
Music used was all from the YouTube audio library:
Morning Mandolin – Chris Haugen
For Time to Disappear – Go By Ocean – Ryan McCaffrey
Barely Small – Freedom Trail Studio
Green Green Garden – Chris Haugen

  1. Lovely video – so much so I’m immediately going to watch it again! The 360 camera is a splendid addition to your filming arsenal and brings a whole new level of interest to your excellent films. I love that you carry a packet of sandwiches and a drink on your bike rides. I do the same. It was standard practice back in the day and I wish more people would use a bike to get out and about with a lunch stop in this way. The bike truly becomes a travelling companion.

Looking forward to your next video – I don’t care if it’s camping, gardening, dog walks, motorbikes or pushbikes – love the mix! Take care, and best regards to Mandy who looks after you so well as you do her 🙂

  2. Nice video. If you were to ride to Shilton (nr Carterton) you’ll see another of those pumps on steps, also a strange circular stone thing next to it. Again, next to it is a bench to rest on, right next to a lovely old ford which gets very deep in the winter!

  3. Hi Sandy, have you ever tried clip on TT bars on your bike ? Not for speed but for extra hand positions and giving your wrists a rest on long rides. I am 65, although I am a time triallist still, on longer solo rides, the last one being 117 miles with 7000 feet of climbing, the time trial bars were invaluable, even on my road bikes, for relieving upper body stress and making the ride more enjoyable because of it.

  4. Wow another brilliant day thanks Sandy, Tithe barn jogged my brain i remember one afternoon my mate David Pearcey asking me if I would go with him to see his Grand parents, I was about five n half so we walked to Little Coxwell along Faringdon Rd I remember it being a hot day and it seemed a long long way I slept on way back home to Shrivenham in Grandads car. I grew up with Dave n John starting out from Elms Row when my family and his moved up to Sandshill. I am fortunate in having many beautiful memories growing up in that village with those people yeah 75 years. ❤️ Robert

  5. From personal experience, nothing is too absurd to be worn by a commuter/touring cyclist. Comfort, function and safety is the game. Road cyclist are another animal. They prefer sleek and sexy 😂

  6. I for one enjoy all your videos, including all aspect and jacklore knives, my hope is one day you will have enough subscribers to allow you to just tick along making YouTube videos and not have to work so hard manufacturing the knives. Thanks as always for taking the trouble to take us along ATB Big Dave

  7. Nice one Sandy, venturing into Glorious Gloucestershire! If you ever wanted a one-way trip towards Cheltenham over Cleeve Hill (you’d like Belas Knapp) or Leckhampton (for its quarrying history) I could run you back to Swindon in the car no problem 👍

  8. Great upload Sandy thank you. A 360 tip from an X3 user, even though the camera captures everything, facing one lens toward the main point of interest minimises interference of the stitching line / jello wobbling. The software is good but it can't perform miracles 🙂

  9. A+++. The barn would need strong support for the weight all those slates for the roof. Amazing engineering for a building you say is around 1000 years old.

If you are into roofs of old buildings two of my favourites are the fan vaulted ceiling of King's College Chapel in Cambridge and Ely Cathedral which is so beautiful inside. Sandy if you are ever over East Anglia way they are both well worth a visit to marvel at the structural engineering as they are truly amazing.

The Kings College Chapel features the world's largest fan vault, constructed between 1512 and 1515 by master mason John Wastell. It also features fine medieval stained glass. The ceiling is only approximately 4-5 inches thick which is amazing given it's the world's largest span fan vault.

Ely Cathedral is just breathtaking. Easy cycling as it is pretty flat in the Fens. The wind are your hills.

Yes camping is so easy with a bicycle. Looking forward to getting back out myself soon.

Just spent 18 days in the Picos in Spain, camping and hiking, but travelling with motorcycle this time. Very beautiful region nonetheless. Not quite the same as cycling though. Certainly a lot less knackering riding up a hill on a motorbike, well, not having to struggle on a loaded touring bike, not knackering at all really on a motorcycle, except after a few hours in the saddle my legs start to ache for some movement which is what you get when cycling and you can't beat. As fun as motorcycling is, and it is, there is no place I'd rather be than sitting on the saddle of my bicycle on a nice warm sunny day riding through beautiful countryside, woodland or up or down hills or mountains. Nothing beats it.

You are looking pretty fit these days Sandy with all the cycling you are doing. Long may it continue.

Have you been riding your Brompton much Sandy. Have you still got it?
Also do you still ride your Suzuki V-Strom?

    Thanks for your videos.

    ATB.

  10. Another great video, you have some great cycling around you. Tythe Barn is impressive.
Like you said, that camera is very clever and it dose add another dimension to your videos.

  11. I thought i recognised that statue. I went canoeing thru that lock. Lechlade is lovely but in the summer it gets ruined with all the litter. Lovely video as usual 👍

  12. That view of the Coln where you stopped is a regular of mine. There's a very handy tap just inside the gate of the chapel where you stopped. Keep on rollin….:)
