to me owning a car or driving in the UK is a necessity honestly the days when I used to take the bus it used to take me about an hour and 40 minutes to get to work when I got my car it takes me less than 1550 minutes to drive to work the same distance plus when I used to take the bus I would have to get off somewhere and walk for several minutes before I get to my workplace and the weather was sometimes so unfriendly I start of seeing the effect on my skin to me I think if you’re just moving to the UK or if you’re a family person you know depending on where you live it’ll be very necessary to get a car but when it comes to buying a car or driving in the UK in general I know the exact person to speak with or to speak to to give me all the information I need so for this video I drove all the way to a friend’s house this person I believe is the best person to discuss this topic with you know why just listen to this first Honda Civic there was the blue Jazz then there was another blue I can’t even remember the name but it was an automatic and then there was um the one I sold I bought it and then I made some profit from it and then there was the Ben and there was the Nan juk and then there is a poo so cars this is excluding the ones that your husband has bought yes of course you he that right yes she’s bought seven cars so who more to discuss this topic with so I’m at D’s house to bring this info to you if there’s anybody that knows about buying of cars in the Yuki there’s no other person that knows it better than Adama why am I saying this how many cars have you bought since she came to the Yuki how many years have you been in the Yi well uh nearly 5 years now like yeah like 4 years and8 months there about and how many cars have you bought in in in in those four years eight months how many cars have you bought if I’m counting rightly it’s like so okay wait there was the first Honda Civic mhm there was the blue Jazz mhm then there was another blue I can’t even household yeah getting to 10 in 5 years wow years my good wow so guys when it comes to buying cars and knowing about purchasing of cars you know as migrants in this country I honestly think that she has more experience and she obviously has more knowledge based on her experience that she would be willing to share so she be the best person to talk about this topic with honestly for those who are topic after that so I’m not going to in uce her to tell us all about herself cuz we done that in other videos right so today we’re just going straight to the topic So today we’re talking about cars right y when you’re buying your cars all those seven cars like where’ you buy them from the first few ones I bought those were like used cars they’ve been used for a very long time I bought those ones I think the first two was from Facebook Marketplace I honestly don’t trust Facebook Marketplace that was just whenever I just come in you okay the first was from Facebook Marketplace in fact the one I actually sold I made more profit from was from Facebook Marketplace yeah and then the other two was from a garage okay and then subsequently the other good cars then I had bought from uh a car dealership C Used direct actually okay did you ever have any issue with you know scammers on Facebook Marketplace regards to buying a car well I didn’t have any bad experience but though a lot of persons have had bad experiences like you see a car that is not good enough and then they just put on the marketplace my brother actually bought a car from the marketplace and whenever he picked the car up and was driving down the car broke down the middle of the road so those are the kind of experiences you can get buying off Facebook Marketplace and don’t be surprised that the next day the number just might not even go through you can’t actually get hold of the person again so that’s you you’re stuck with this car with whatever issues are arising from the car that’s just your problem now so really you wouldn’t trust that I wouldn’t recommend it right now for anybody so um let’s explain the buying process but I want to enjoy this new car cuz I haven’t so what’s the buying process like so uh the first two cars like I said was bought from Facebook Marketplace so the buying process of course was just like you go you see the car if you like it you make payments that that was literally it but then whenever I had to buy like the better cars I would say uh I had bought from a car dealership like a very renowned car dealership here in bers and that’s that was uh the use direct Char specifically I think I know him yeah yeah and they have lovely cars guys so um you go down to them and then it’s actually up to you what you how you want to buy do you want to buy and pay off completely it’s up to you do you do you want to do a higher purchase or do you want to do a PCP what’s the difference between the PCP and then and the higher purchase for the PCP I’ll just explain it this way the full value of this scner might be £20,000 right and now you have let’s say deposit of £5,000 so what is like £15,000 so the £15,000 now they are going to take out a huge sum of you they might take out £5,000 and keep and call that end of contract payment and then what is left £10,000 is left so then the £1,000 will be split into the period of time you want to pay let’s say 4 years you’re explaining PCP now yes I’m explaining PCP so in that way you’re literally going to be paying like £10,000 cuz that £5,000 is just kept aside for whenever the end of your contract comes and you still want to keep the car then you can pay the £5,000 and take the car but in the case of higher purchase the total cost of the car is going to be split over the period of time so the total cost of this car now which is 20,000 will be be split over 4 years that’s if you choose that’s if you choose higher pchas and if you choose four years so in PCP you can keep the car for a year 2 years you take it back to them they will revalue the car here I’ll tell you remember whenever I sent back my Mercedes-Benz uh can you believe I got a refund of £2,000 wow after using the car for a year and 6 month I took it back uh to the dealership and I like oh I want to upgrade I want to get a new car and they revalued the car and at the time the car was worth like 2K more than what the car was at the time when I so they paid me 2000 after using their car for a year and months but that would never happen in a high so I’m I’m a fan of PCP PCP does it for me but it’s all up to you okay it’s all up to you what do you want do you want to keep the car are you somebody who wants to keep a car for a long time then you should go for higher purchase okay you see way she’s explained it to make it look like ABCD even me I honestly not really understand really understood wow the buying process for the Facebook Marketplace of course you just like uh you pay your money and then they give you the they hand you the v5c the v5c is like the tax uh certificate something like like the ownership certificate of the car and then at this point you expected to insure the car yeah to make sure it’s you have to insure the car get an insurance certificate before you can go to get the car taxed okay because without an insurance certificate you can’t tax the car okay all right so that will be the process if you buying from of somebody or of the Facebook Marketplace but whenever we had bought from the Char husk they will also give you the v5c but they can also help you do like the taxing of the car for you now there are some cars that got from England and those cars you just have to tax them online you don’t have to go to the post office but meanwhile there are some cars that you have to still go to the post office to get it taxed yes to get it taxed okay like my husband’s car was taxed online he didn’t have to go to the Post Office I’ve always done it online yeah but my may I had to go to the Post Office it wouldn’t go online oh why yeah I don’t know they just like he was trying to explain some difference why this one can go this one can go so some you still have to go post to the post office get it Ted and then give them the sleep for the new ownership okay and then whenever it’s processed by dvla it gets sent back to you like your new viic certificate which is like your ownership certificate of the car and you just have to keep that pass so what I should look out for is the v5c v5c certific certificate when I’m buying from somebody or from Faceook or from dealership and if it’s like a good um dealership it’s the same process right yes process yeah okay everybody they you have to get it from whoever has the car whoever is giving the car over to you has to hand that over to you I think for my first car the person sent it to the dvla so I received the one with my name later on so I think when you get to you have to send it to dvla now if the person had already done it for you that was half of the job done but most of them just hand it over to if they hand it over to you have to send it to DV yeah you have to go to the Post Office and then they send it to DV you fill a form and then send it to DV and DV sends it back to you with your like with your name on it okay now let me ask you how much you were paying for cuz as somebody who’s new to the UK usually our car insurance is really High you mentioned that you need to get the insurance certificate first before you can get it taxed right so how much were you pay when you first moved into the country uh I think our first Insurance in the country was around £1 120 120 yeah that was because at the time my husband was using his Nigerian license yeah but whenever we got licensed in the UK the insurance shut up and that’s one thing I think is very unfair because for your husband he has Driving Experience in Nigeria right for several years but his experience was not cons in the UK once you are new to the UK they are going to say that you do not have UK and then they will disregard all your experience so that is why if you’re new to the country I would recommend a company called marshmallows okay with your car insurance so with them they do consider your Driving Experience wherever that you are coming from and then they’ll give you your no claim bonus from your country like counting back from the number of years you did not claim in your country so beautiful yes and I think that’s what is fair cuz back in our countries the driving can even be more scarier than here but you able to drive safely cuz for me I realized that as I drove here each year the insurance reduced so with marshmallows they do give you discounts based on your driving experience from wherever that you are coming from into the UK like when your husband first came he was using his Nigerian license right so for your husband if he had gone to marshmallows right they could insure him with his Nigerian license without any issues at all and they will not say that because he’s new to the country he should pay a high amount well that’s really lying so honestly like I heard I was like that’s really cool cuz lots of people you know it’s not even sometimes buying the car that’s a problem it’s the insurance so they can cover you with licenses from all over the world or any country and then they can also you know give you discounts based on your no claim bonus in your country they will also give you fair prices you know taking into account your license from your home country so the good I’ve got you for some people me as well you know I use that my old car my old years you know why I’m afraid of debt I don’t want to owe oh really I don’t want to owe so if I want to buy a car that’s 20,000 I rather save 20,000 and go and buy the I’m buy the car I was so afraid what what do you think for the people are afraid what do you think like me I really don’t know what to say because well I’m of the opinion that life is just for the living guys like why should I fix myself on this particular thing and live in fear when I actually do have the resources not to okay so this cars I get is not like I have too much money truth be told I sort of recycle the deposits of this cars okay so the deposit I used in paying for this car at the end of the day I’m end up getting it back and use it to deposit for the other car and I use it for the other car that’s just how I sort of like leave and then get this cars like why should I be stuck after working so hard why should I be stuck driving one retti car I can actually drive a new a good car a good car so when at what point in my life I begin to live life okay to actually begin to get things nice things for myself is it when I’m like 6 years old well that’s just my personal philosophia and that’s so for those who are wondering all the seven cars that we mentioned she doesn’t have them packed in her house no at a time it’s one at a time she buys and then she’s not happy with it and then she sells or she changes and there was one time that she bought a car and I think we didn’t the same week she sold it and she even sold it and made profit i800 800 I remember this about four years ago but I I bought the car I bought the car today and I sold you tomorrow morning and I made £800 I like business yes can you imagine for you who has a family I’m sure having a car has really been beneficial of course of course School runs yeah School runs we couldn’t do without the cars yeah yeah and especially for a place like Northern Ireland where the weather is bad the weather is very bad and then even the BS times is very bad you miss the bus and you have to wa let’s say an hour for the next one and so if you have a car is really really convenient and for most part of the UK honestly if you have a car it makes life easy for you it’s actually one of the first advice I would give to anybody who just in into the UK I’ll be like get your driving sorted get your provisional license get yourself a car it will save a whole lot of stress like imagine imagine closing closing work by 10:00 on a weekend you know there’s no bus there’s no bus yeah you spend so much money taking the taxes you spend so much time on the code you have to leave your house so so early so you can meet up a boss which is going to like take you 2 hours to get where you’re going to Meanwhile just a 15minute drive before I got a car I used to get a lift from Q yeah hi Q thank you so much I realized you watch my videos the last time she commented I remember Q too yeah and God bless her for doing that but days that she was not working and I had to take a car or a bus bus it could take me 1 hour 30 1 hour 40 minutes to get to work meanwhile when I got a car it was only like 14 minutes drive 60 Minutes drive and it was taking me over an hour you have to go early because if you miss that other bus another one hour yes another one hour another honestly and then in that bad weather and is raining and it’s so stressful you close work at 8 you get home at 10 10 that’s 2 hours of your sleep period gone like to having a car honestly is very necessary in the UK and you don’t have to buy these expensive cars we all started from buying the very cheap ones the very first car the very first car like the very first one was £800 wow that was £800 first car was 2,000 something at least you you started big now at least at Le but I know people that bought cars that were like 7000000 and then they were using it very well and like very very safe okay so your final words for somebody who’s still contemplating whether to get a car your final words and then my final words is you should just go ahead and get the car guys like do it’s a necessity for me it’s not a losery is a necessity like you need it if you’re in the UK so please get yourself a car it’s going to make your life 10 times easier than what it is now trust me on that
