I just got this 2023 Spectral 29 AL 5 last Thursday. I know that it comes with a Hyperglide-only Sunrace 12 speed cassette. It honestly shifts ok. It shifts like a worn out SRAM GX, which isn’t a bad thing considering how cheap it is; just slow to shift. It doesn’t skip gears that much, and a little tightening of the wobbly barrel adjuster on the Deore shifter gets rid of the slack.
Regardless, I wanna upgrade to a lighter and more accurate XT Cassette, chain and shifter after this current group wears out but it seems the main thing that hinders the AL 5 is its upgradability. For that reason, I wanna know what hubs this bike uses, as online info is conflicting. If possible, I want to be able to upgrade just the freehub body because I don’t ride trails hardcore enough to destroy these Raceface AR30 wheels anyway (and whatever these hubs are) and I want to be able to use them for as long as possible.
