[Music] Ukrainian president vmir zalinski is asking for a noly Zone again Might Recall from previous news Cycles following zin’s call for a no fly zone that enforcing this would require direct military confrontation between NATO and Russia a nuclear power now in a new interview with the New York Times zinsky urged the US and Europe to do more to defend Ukraine let’s watch the article titled What’s the problem zalinsky challenges West over hesitations says that Ukrainian Army is quote struggling to fend off Fierce Russia advances all across the front and that zalinski is dismissing any quote fears of nuclear escalation propos that NATO planes shoot down Russian missiles in Ukrainian airspace so for context Ukraine’s Army has been retreating as Russia’s aial attacks decimate Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure which has caused brownouts throughout the country the bided Administration has banned the use of us-made weapons to strike Russia in an effort to prevent further escalation of this conflict zalinsky when calling for NATO help compared how the US and Britain helped Israel shoot down drones and missiles from Iran last month the times interview comes at the end of zelinsky’s five-year presidential term but Ukraine’s March election was suspended because because of the war and zalinsky will remain in power under martial law Powers some on the right were frustrated by the news popular ex-user Tim young wrote on x quote zilinsky banned opposing political parties and will now continue to remain in office without an election because of his own Declaration of Martial law thank God we spent over $200 billion to defend democracy in Ukraine representative marchu Taylor green called zilinsky a dictator and said quote American taxpayers should not be forced to fund Ukraine’s government $1 billion a month and nearly 200 billion for a war they cannot win but other Representatives including Republican Michael Turner and Democrats Jim Hines and Gregory Connelly have just urged the administration to expedite resources to Ukraine Republicans though have long been frustrated with the amount of money going to Ukraine Eric Prince a former Navy SEAL and founder of Blackwater worldwide joined tucko Carlson this week where the two questioned how helpful us Aid really was let’s watch most of that money goes to five major US defense contractors yes to replace at five times the cost what the weapons cost that we already sent the ukrainians meaning you know if we send them something that was built 10 years ago well now it’s going to costs four and five times as much so again it’s a massive grift paid by a pentagon that doesn’t know how to buy stuff cost effectively it doesn’t change the outcome on the battle popular streamer and political commentator Destiny disagreed and felt if Ukraine wants to fight the US should enable it I think there’s an important question to be asked about like who’s to tell Ukraine not to fight like if we have the ability to supply them with weapons and if we want to stand by them for as long as they’re willing to fight um does not send an important message to say China where we would say we would support Taiwan or we would support them in whatever capacity that we feel is responsible until we feel like the fight is completely over rather than like well we’re a democracy so if you can make the war last for a couple years it’s probably going to be unpopular we’re going to pull out which is historically like a Str a weakness that democracies kind of have so I think that showing support for Ukraine is important in two ways one is the moral way that if they if they want to fight they should be enable to um it’s funny I hear foreign people Express more concern over people dying in Ukraine in in this war than I’ve ever heard ukrainians Express like I’ll hear people all over the way like oh my God these poor ukrainians they’re dying we need to stop supporting them and then I hear ukrainians say we want to fight Russia is taking our territory so that was in a debate with Sebastian Gorka um that’s an insane kind of logic and you hear it a lot when in the Israel context and in the Ukraine context if Israel wants to fight and Ukraine wants to fight they’re allowed to fight but what is being asked is whether or not America a different country mind you thousands of miles away should be spending money to enable them to do to fight especially in the context of Israel I I would argue unlike Ukraine where they are an occupying a region and a more aggressive stance toward their opponents as opposed to Ukraine where the argument isn’t that Ukraine isn’t justified in fending off an illegal invasion of their own country but that the the party that’s doing it is a nuclear power and that the uh the idea of being able to use Force to force them out is not something that Ukraine has the ability to do that when settlements were on the table a month after the conflict started that could have maintained the bulk of uh Ukraine’s territory and prevented over 100,000 lives being lost the US and the west and the UK should not have thwarted those negotiations and now we’re even in a worse place because America in the west is not willing to engage in World War III with Russia so what is actually being gained from this exchange and what is meant by the idea that they want to fight like who’s the they zalinski wants to fight sure and he wants I mean office as long as this war goes exactly he wants the circumstances that could lead to World War I he wants us to shoot down he wants us to shoot down their planes but Ukraine is drafting people to serve in the Army I I just read in the associated uh uh press from a month ago that you know they lowered the constriction age once again so they’re going to draft even more people so there it’s not I’m sure there are people who are willingly taking up arms to defend their country as there are in every conflict and I’m I’m not at all mocking that is very brave again they were invaded however it it’s yes if they want to fight they can fight I I’m not saying they don’t have the right to resist their their lands being their Invasion by uh by Russia but do we have to facilitate it do we have to create the conditions again that could lead us into conflict with Russia which is exactly what zinsky wants yeah as you say he he he’s he’s you know remaining in power they’re not having the election he has banned opposition parties he’s banned opposition media um behaving in ways that do not befit a liberal democracy and we say that you know Europe is at stake that the values of the Enlightenment are at stake in this conflict when uh when the measures that Ukraine must Resort has resorted to I don’t know that they had to resort to them they have resorted to them um are very much counter to the Norms we profess and so you know we’re in this position and just it doesn’t it can’t be one our military experts know that his military experts know that they they are slowly retreating they are losing territory they their army is in shambles the troops are demoralized they’re in horrible situations I I’ve heard from um uh uh reporters who’ve spent time there on the conditions of the Ukrainian military that the constant having to sleep having to try to sleep being totally unable through constant bombardment hearing like explosions everywhere the toll it takes is has gone on for so long um it’s it’s not a sustainable winnable situation diplomacy must take hold or we will get to the place where all of Ukraine is swallowed I mean part of this story is also the access that zalinski has to come and do this sort of a sit-down interview with the Western media and make this kind of direct um appeal it does represent it seems a shift from I don’t know a year or two ago when he was being invited to award shows and regularly appearing with the president um we’ve shifted into a new Zone where America seems to be more invested in the conflict in Gaza uh remember right after October 7 zalinsky offer try to tie the things together to to come I think to to come to uh Israel when Biden took his trip and he was told no this isn’t about you this isn’t for you but you can see I think there’s something there’s a kind of like perverse wisdom in zilinsky trying to tie the fate of Ukraine to theate of Israel because there all these parallels here and that’s part of what we’ve been talking about all week since the ICC um uh warrants uh uh the prospective ICC warrant conversation emerged and I talked about this yesterday in my radar that I think a lot of people have to reckon with the differences between how America is approaching the situation in Israel and how it’s approaching the situation in Gaza why is it that when there’s an ICC warrant to arrest Putin who rightly is uh accused of committing war crimes in Ukraine Joe Biden applauds it even though America isn’t a part to the ICC and it really should be none of his business you know if he wants to maintain that standard but when it comes to the ICC issuing um warrants against Netanyahu and defense minister yov Galant Suddenly It’s this isn’t a jurisdictional problem they don’t have any right to intervene they have no jurisdiction over Israel they have no jurisdiction over Palestine Israel isn’t a party to the IC well neither is Russia so all of these hypocrisies are getting revealed that show that there is no sense of um uh Law and Order there is no sense of global law that democracies respect this isn’t really about protecting democracy whether it’s Netanyahu who wants to pursue this conflict so that he doesn’t get kicked out of office or zalinski who might have very similar incentives this is all about America picking and choosing winners and picking and choosing how it’s going to spend American tax money ostensibly on various forms of foreign interventionism that don’t have any direct relationship to the well-being of the average American and that the average American is deeply skeptical of yeah yeah we framed some of this by the way as you know Republicans think and Democrats think I think it’s worth noting that overwhelmingly establishment members of both parties are on board with funding both Ukraine and Israel and that is not to and the leadership of both parties 100% Charles Schumer yes Mike Johnson all of them Joe Biden and that’s not to detract from you know the margar Taylor greens and the like who are offering some push back who are in the Republican camp but I just want to be really clear that this is not um you know vote down ticket Republican to uh stop our involvement in foreign interventionism no this is a two wings of the same bipartisan bird that is going to fly us into conflict conflict am I fly us right into this kind of no fly zone situation which could bring us in direct military conflict with Russia yes the stop foreign involvement um contingent on in the Republican party and the Democratic party still very very small although hopefully larger every day yeah I will say Just One Last point this is why I think there is an appetite for third parties right now why there’s so much disaffection around both Donald Trump and Joe Biden and why people are very frustrated that RFK Jr is being kept off at the debate stage and that the one candidate in the race race or the two candidates in this Rays who actually are against all of these foreign conflicts not just Ukraine like RFK Jr who’s very supportive of the spinning in Israel Cornell West and Jill Stein have been especially blacklisted by the media well and the libertarian party National Convention meeting is this coming weekend uh here in DC actually and so at the outcome of that should be we’ll have a Libertarian uh party presidential candidate that I don’t know specifically what their views will be on this R likely it will not be RFK J but will likely similarly be opposed um at least to the funding of um all of these Foreign Wars more Rising right after this [Music]
