Well yesterday when doing intervals I noticed a lot of noise coming from the rear of the bike. Got the bike home and noticed the derailer was loose. I backed the bolt out that goes in the frame and a lot of metal and threads came out from it. Contacted canyon and this is what they said.
Thank you for your email. I am so sorry to see this damage to your bike. Your Canyon warranty covers the bike for material defects. In general, stripped screws and / or frame inserts are not covered under warranty because they are not indicative of a material defect. These typically become damaged because they come loose over time and then vibrate while riding and damage the threads.
For this damage, we do not offer repair service. We recommend a frame replacement and offer replacement frames for incidental damage under our crash replacement program. The replacement price for your frame is $2799. Your ARO CFR R065 frame is out-of-stock at this time. We should have a restock ETA update by June 1st if you'd like to check back at that time.
At this time, we can offer you a 20% discount for a complete bike.
Kind regards,
Robyn
I ride 16 to 20 hours a week and race competitively. I find this shocking. I have not crashed this bike or dropped it and take great care of it.
All the threads are gone in the frame and don’t think that a longer bolt would help.
