Follow my off-road adv motorcycle adventure in Iceland with this travel documentary style video. I was lucky enough to explore the heart of Iceland on a motorcycle with RideWithLocals. Riding the Husqvarna 701 enduro adventure motorcycle we travelled 200-240 kilometres each day off-road.
PART ONE https://youtu.be/e4H6iTclzNc
Iceland offers motorcycle riding experiences like nowhere else on Earth and I hope this video will help you see why! Footage is from my GoPro, Mavic Air2 drone and iphone.
Over 2.5 million tourists visit Iceland each year to see the big sights. Hot spas, waterfalls, glaciers, geysers, tectonic plates and lava fields. They pack into coaches or hire cars. But riding here with RideWithLocals on off-road bikes changes your perspective. We can discover the must-see spots from the less trodden tracks, skipping the crowds, and seeing things most tourists might only glimpse from the plane window. We rode up close to Hekla, slept below the Myrdalsjokull Glacier, recharged in an abandoned spa, explored huge craters without a soul in sight, picked across lava fields, crossed valley basins and crested mountains, riding volcanic ash berms. It was riding heaven combined with cultural and geological discovery: A trip only motorcycles can make possible.
We did the trip with RideWithLocals, the only Icelandic enduro company and based just a 2h 45min flight from the UK. A fully-inclusive motorcycle Iceland trip on Husqvarna 701s with a support vehicle, fuel, food, mountain hut accommodation, trail snacks, beer and all the local gen from the Vikings running it. We had six days riding, covered roughly 1400km doing 9 to 11- hour riding days and got to see the real Iceland – which is unseen by most tourists. Expect to pay around €4400 per person. www.ridewithlocals.is

hey viking food biking slam [Music] amazing [Music] so this is a very good reason why you go with the local guys you know what we’re doing we are in the middle of the mountains there’s no petrol up here but there is when you have three vikings and we have a smile who’s a good boy well we got for you magento look at those little eyes wow mega a little bit [Music] [Music] wow [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] just casually eating an apple in front of four volcanoes at a lava field [Music] [Music] now we are entering a this canyon is like a volcano fissure it was like a 45 kilometers long and it erupted around 930 and the earth just opened up like a shipper and the lava flow came out of it so we are in that canyon now [Music] so see all these big lumps yeah that’s hardened lava and then we’re in like black sand now it is really wet in iceland right now so we’ve just parked up having a little bit of a break we’ve done about a thousand water crossings and thankfully day one day four in iceland and i pretty much feel like i’m standing in two buckets of water it’s been so where i think we’ve done a million water crossings but the most incredible moment of today was riding along in a lava field with heckler upstanding proud and then the volcanic ash was like sand weaving through these rugged lumps of i guess dried hardened lava it was absolutely mind-blowing we’ve pulled up to our mountain hut for the evening with the most spectacular view got a viking beer and that was i’d say the most incredible day riding i’ve ever had but i’d be lying because it was the fourth day of the most incredible riding that i’ve done and that has all been here in iceland mind-blowing scenery incredible cheers to day four [Music] it is a really wet day uh there’s a massive pressure of rain coming through but we’re all kidded up we’re in our waterproof we’re off to see a glacier and a lava field is someone being silly behind me no is that mini viking you’re just so suspicious of all these guys i am i’m suspicious it’s gonna be a good day though i don’t know how to describe this this is a lava field covered in moss as far as the eye can see iceland man like viking queue looking at the map of iceland i’m realizing quite why we need ride with locals guys because all of these are roads that you can drive on but none of the ones that we have ridden on are even on any map anywhere so there’s no way of discovering them unless you’ve got that no four knowledge from the vikings [Music] i’m so proud of my hip it’s been doing really really well i am all that physio’s paid off but we just decided to stop and walk through a waterfall put it down there and it was worth it for the waterfall but man my hipster one step after the other the good news is normally when you’ve got motorbike you don’t need to walk right unless it’s waterfall it was worth it it was worth it it’s also really wet really wet oh that was so intense we’ve had to walk them across because it was really deep and a really strong current in the middle you see it’s like above knees wow so we’ve just made it home toe rope lesson for everyone if you’re gonna taste someone don’t tie a loop in in the rope instead just put a knot in it and then stand on the knot on the foot peg and then that means at any point you can just jettison the the bike being towed it basically means that you’re not tied together so any point you can bang out let go the rope and get yourself out of trouble but yeah we’ve just towed about 15k um including some dirt track but we’re home and we’ve earned a beer most of the week we’ve been staying in mountain huts but we’ve had a little bit of luxury in the most beautiful sort of airbnb style apartment i’ll give you a tour and basically eight of us have invaded so it’s a little bit chaotic in here but it’s absolutely stunning really really gorgeous but the most incredible part is this way [Music] okay there is a massive glacier up there you can kind of see it we are going to be riding our motorbikes up to that we’re getting closer [Music] how mad is that that’s a glacier right there and i’m on a motorbike what are you doing um we are doing viking foraging there are little berries like this okay he’s a faster forager than me so i have to try it okay what do you reckon it’s going to taste like it’s very good with the cream just cream they’re really good wow i’m telling the truth that’s right biking food you’d have to eat a lot of these to get vikings hey good recovery [Music] just stopping for our sandwiches and we’ve just done the most amazing work look at that we made it was there a new one fell in you’re interested in coming to ride iceland ride with the locals is the most authentic way to do it it’s run by proper vikings and everything that you could need for your motorbike trip is included so from when you start your trip they are going to sort all the bikes the fuel the logistics your accommodation they’re going to feed you and amazing food some of the icelandic culture in that food protein bars road snacks drinks beers in the evening everything that you can need from the beginning of the trip to the end of the trip is included there are no hidden costs or anything like that so you can rest assured that they’ve got it sorted they know this landscape because they’re proper vikings like they know where to take your motorbikes i’m vanessa the girl on a bike and i’m on an icelandic adventure riding husqvarna several ones please hit subscribe to my youtube channel and here it is [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] we’ve reached a pretty uh brutal river crossing it’s both deep and fast flowing so right in the middle it was above knee height which is too high for the air intakes on these bikes so vikings have gone upstream let’s try and find something a little bit safer but you can see viking in the river on the right and it’s up to his thigh yeah she looks like it’s going to fall over [Music] [Music] so how was the glacier bath i’m angry i fell in the river so yeah i kind of just fell out of the river um i’m pretty wet thankfully the bike is okay but that is a pretty fast flowing deep river um so walkers are just going across try doing that depth with a massive light [Music] it’s all part of the adventure [Music] hey [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] nice we are about an hour and a half maybe two hours away from the end of our last day riding in iceland and my mind’s a little bit on overdrive how much awesomeness that’s the process my body’s definitely feeling a little bit tired so i’m looking forward to a hot shower at the end of it it’s been the most incredible days ridings thing i’ve ever had icelandic off-road motorcycle adventure is right up there on a bucket list a-bikes a-riders successfully home [Music] [Music] here we go here’s the stickers thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] they do small riders you’re wiping [Music] you

Your a nice girl. I went to Iceland 1994. It is amazing. Thanks for the video. You know the lack of foliage in Iceland meens it stays the same as for ever. What a super place
Wow. I can't even ride a motorbike, but now I want to learn just so I can do this.
In time to come, people will ask "What's a (insert extinct animals, plants, location's, geology, etc) glacier?" But saying that, we could say the same about LOTS of things we've already killed AND will continue to do so, because humans 😂 FFS 🤦🏻♂️
We have a splendid way of destroying everything and never seem to live in harmony. But saying that, were all at fault so.
Yeaaaaaaa 😕
My dogs eyes are like that that's why your hips hurt honestly now sit down only stand if u you really really have to for about 80 percent of the riding you did I'd be sat down your knees and hip rotates and flexors must be aggravated to say least I'm 29 and I know about this guessing u have a few years on me but please sit down x
What for a invitation to iceland, thumbs up for this.
Great videos. Wonderful experience that must be. I'm a girl who's wanted to ride bikes since I was about 5 years old. I'm now 45 and still can't do it. I think fear and anxiety would be my biggest obstacles to overcome these days. Thanks so much for sharing. 👍
And this is how and why the virus is spreading
Alex…. The drone videography is absolutely brilliant. 👏👏
Also a reminder why we MUST protect this beautiful, amazing planet of ours.🙏

Absolutely stunning! Such smartly put together footage. Felt like I needed a nice dry warm towel after watching all the water crossings. Thanks for bringing the rest of us along!
The pants you wore for this trip what brand?!
So cool you got to go through the Erso farm set area!
Bit like parts of Lesotho 🇱🇸 endless space and wow views
Amazing views and what a fantastic ride. That must be The dream destination for anyone on a dirt bike. I would probably take The ferry from Denmark to Iceland and bring my own bike because I live in Denmark. I really like your video it looks so nice when you drive on these dark volcano roads with black sand or stone. 145 kg and 70horse power must be great fun.😀
Best video's of Iceland that I have even seen! 👏
I did the same 6 days tour in 2018 with ride with locals…. it brings me so much warm in my heart to see this series of video. Everyday felt like being on a different planet. I could comment on every scene! but thanks for this video! Maybe one comment at 8.06 you say that you ride not on road… I agree many time on my tour i was like where is the road? and how come the leader does not have a GPS!! 🙂
Thank you Vanessa. In-credible!
Iceland Wow Incredible ❤️😊
