Tires with low rolling resistance are a good idea on commutes or long-distance rides. By default, my Canyon gravel bike comes with the Schwalbe G-one bite 40mm which showed a rolling resistance of 25W with sealant and low tire pressure. It's pretty good, but I wish to try some alternatives and see if there is a difference. Some people recommended the Schwalbe Marathon Efficiency, which is better at 18.5 watts. However, the tires with the lowest rolling resistance goes to road tires, and many also recommends Continental GP 5000, with a rolling resistance of 8.3W, less than half of the other options.

I'm not doing races, but tires seems like the cheapest thing on a bike that I can change to gain speed. Are there any downsides to using those road tires for commuting?
