After much celebration in Frankfurt with Rex and his family we ride to Heidelberg. Unfortunately we leave late again and it’s pouring with rain so we bag the scenic route and opt for the direct route. This is actually in keeping with the spirit of this tour which is to see the urban cycling infrastructure. Living in Japan as I do you wouldn’t dream of riding the main routes anywhere and would quickly escape to the minor roads even if it meant going over big mountains but here in Western Europe it’s much safer and infinitely more pleasant. Here we have more examples of the wonderful cycling infrastructure of Europe. Perhaps it can’t quite compete with the Netherlands but it’s still very good.

Into The Fray we go okay well rainy day today up late so we’re not going the long way around going to go the uh easy way around and uh bike has no luggy today Rex’s wife kindly carrying it for me on the train feel like cheating a little bit W look at that over there RS dragging me along here now we’re on the bike path as we go down the main road oh [Music] nice not for the faint my little Gap that rail next year CZ I love those cars sit 2 CV they’re so cute [Music] okay now it’s time to get a coffee you can bring our bikes cool place anyway let’s get it on the video this is a funky Cafe that we found in damad what do you think yeah oh okay okay we got to take the other way say they have another entrance oh around here sorry aha this is where we go see oh yeah we have bikes here the only ones yes we just leave here then oh look at that it’s like made for it right oh God it hurts to sit down [Music] really what a cool car all cars should be like this in fact it’s not a car it’s a bicycle look at that that is so cool look happy chickens that’s what you call free range oh Castle my legs got nothing in them the city ahead well apparently we’re getting close to heidenberg but it doesn’t look like it at the moment is this it are we in the city we’re in the city it’s heidenberg we this that was relatively un painful wasn’t it yeah I just got to check there is the blue one over there so here we go Rex is now going to clean our bikes for us okay it doesn’t work sta then your destination will be on the [Music] right [Music] we your destination is on the right for
