Hi everyone. I currently ride a Canyon Ultimate CF SL 8 from 2018, mostly doing road biking for years, but lately have been venturing a bit more on gravel roads, and I'm hitting the limit of what my bike can do with 28 mm tires.

I'm looking to do some gravel riding as well as light bikepacking (a few days at most). Initially I was thinking of assembling a bike starting with a steel frame like a State 4130, but the weight just seems unappealing given I'm in quite a hilly spot.

I'm now thinking of just going with an aluminum build as a good balance between weight and cost.

I'd love your input on these 2 bikes. Both are $2000 new, and seem to have good frames and components.
