The Irish Coast cycle and this stage in particular has been all about taking the long way around and that was also true of the final day where following the coast to Dunmore East I over doubled the distance from Bunmahon to Waterford. This took me through the rest of the Copper Coast and it’s punishing repetition of steep hills, a brief bit of flat cycling to through Tramore and then more hills on the road to Dunmore East and from there to Waterford. The photos are up to Tramore as after that low cloud closed in so visibility was poor but I pass just thankful that the heavy rain forecast held off long enough for me to be in a Waterford pub by the time it hit.
The forecast meant there was a temptation to just head straight for Waterford city but this final day was a big deal as filling in this missing segment means I have now cycled the coast all the way from Carlingford to Achill Sound. I’ve also cycled the coast from Sligo to Belfast so I’m not far off completion. I think I’ve now cycled about 3400km on the Irish Coast Cycle so completing it may push that over 4,000, some 800km more than my estimate before I began last year

Well done sir. I’d be nervous leaving my e-bike outside while I slip in for a pint. Or am I paranoid ?
