I can’t find a concrete answer as to whether or not bicycle tourists can purchase and use LTVA permits for camping. I plan on spending the winter of ’24-’25 in southern AZ and CA, and want the option of camping in one spot for an extended period, with a few amenities, until spring of ’25. The verbiage on the BLM/LTVA website says something like “the permit must be placed in the lower right hand side of the vehicle’s windshield” … And I know non-self-contained campers must camp within 500 feet of the restrooms, etc …

There is nothing about bicycles in any official BLM/LTVA info I can find. I have emailed both the AZ and CA offices about this, but no response as of now. I also emailed [recreation.gov](https://recreation.gov) … they didn’t even know what an LTVA was …

Does anyone have any experience camping at LTVA’s while on tour? If not, any idea as to how to get an official ruling from the US BLM as to whether or not a valid LTVA permit will be honored if a bicyclist rolls up to the entrance of an LTVA ready to camp for a while?

There is quite a bit of info about camping on BLM land while touring, but not specifically LTVA areas that require a permit. An info or ideas?
