I want to upgrade the brakes on my road bike from something like the first picture to a shimano dual pivot (either 105 or Ultegra I see both for sale often) but I’m worried my housings, especially the rear won’t be long enough because the arm where the cable enters the barrel adjuster seems quite a bit shorter on the 105 caliper. Has anyone done this? Another option would be to find Tiagra calipers which seem to have a longer arm than the 105/ultegra design. Would tiagra also be a significant braking upgrade over entry level?
